2 Page 2 Presbyterian Harrier Club 2013 Annual Report Club Captain s Report Thanks to all of you for helping to make the 81 st season a success. A special thanks to those who did the timekeeping, getting access to venues, the time handicaps, the making and serving of the tea, the dishes etc. Prizegiving was well attended. Most club members were there, and also all 9 of our Life Members, four of whom are no longer participating in the weekly club meetings. It was good to be able to catch up with them Warren, Paul, Doug and Arthur. Also at that time Isabel and Jack were made Life Members and were presented with a memento to mark the occasion. Other celebrations during and after the season were for significant birthdays 1 x 13 yrs, 1 x 50 yrs, 2 x 60 yrs, 1 x 65 yrs, 1 x 70 yrs, 2 x 80 yrs and 1 x 85 yrs. Thank you for allowing the rest of the club to share in these milestones with you. The season also saw Janette, Mary Jane and Mohijit sign up to do the inaugural Cancer Society night time walking half marathon fundraiser. The club held a gold coin charity day and raised $131 for the Cancer Society. Also other club members sponsored them along with their friends and family to raise over $3,000 of the $280,000 total that the Walking Stars half marathon raised for the Cancer Society. The walk took place on Saturday 30 November 2013 and started at sunset (8.30pm). They were all finished by midnight. During the off season there have been three events. 16 November 2013 Atiu Creek Regional Park attended by 18 people. 18 January 2014 Wairere Falls attended by 28 people. Some stayed 1 or 2 nights in Matamata and some just came for the day. 15 February 2014 Rotoroa Island attended by 24 people. All three days were sunny but not too hot. All were worth going to, to enjoy God s creation and mankind s modification to it. At Rotoroa Island it is possible to walk through the hole-in-the-rock and visit both the north and south poles in less than two hours.

4 Page 4 Presbyterian Harrier Club 2013 Annual Report Treasurer s Report Full membership reduced by 9 from Year ending 2012, but 2 new members joined, finishing the year with 48 adults and 2 juniors as financial members. Subscription for 2013 remained at $25 per member, and $12.50 for juniors. A total of $720 was paid in donations to churches or schools for use of facilities which is $40 (1 event) less than last year. Our $5,000 term deposit with PSDS (Presbyterian Savings and Development Society) is earning 4.25% interest and is now at $5,119. We ended the year with an operating surplus of $480 Events The only funded event held this year was the Annual Prizegiving Dinner which made a small surplus. Prizegiving Dinner Receipts 1,546 Expenses 1,405 Surplus (Deficit) 141 Uniforms Uniforms are sold at cost, and the club covers freight and any rounding costs. It is more economical if we can make bulk orders, so please order early in the season. 5 more members purchased uniforms this year, and there is still one new Jacket (size Small) in stock if anyone is interested. All uniform details and prices are on our website. Several running shorts and singlets are still available for sale at a nominal price. Notes to Accounts General Accounting Policies The accounting principles recognized as appropriate for the measurement and reporting of results and financial position on a historical cost basis have been adopted. Reliance is placed on the fact that the club is an ongoing concern. There have been no changes in Accounting policy. Particular Accounting Policies Income and expenditure have been matched through the use of accrual accounting. All statements are prepared on a GST inclusive basis as GST is not applicable.
