Through the XCPPNQ, Xstrata s copper and zinc businesses have formed partnerships with North Queensland charities, community groups and government departments that make a real difference to the way we live in rural and regional North Queensland. In 2010 XCPPNQ entered its sixth year of operation and continued to deliver results through partnerships in Mount Isa, Cloncurry, Townsville and Bowen, where many of our employees and their families live and work. Our partnerships are delivering results in the areas of health, education, social and community development, enterprise and job creation, the environment and arts and culture. As our partnerships draw to a close, we take this opportunity to congratulate our outgoing partners on the successful outcomes they achieved under the partnership program, and to review the highlights of their achievements.

Queensland Health: Mount Isa Diabetes Clinic Diabetes is a serious chronic health problem affecting 7% of Australians and approximately 24% of Indigenous Australians. The clinic targets prevention, early intervention, treatment and self-management of diabetes while also providing training for health workers and community education on living with and preventing diabetes.
