3 2. Weather Synopsis: Cloudy skies along with showers and a risk of thunderstorms as a north south frontal system works its way eastwards through the day. Manitoba border areas and as far east as Dryden will see some sunshine as a dry slot develops behind the front helping to clear skies, but patchy moisture will develop cumulus by afternoon along with some mid to high cloud as well. Areas under the cloud shield will see spotty sunshine, but not enough to cause a deep drop in RH values. Once again if enough afternoon heat reaches the surface daytime heating will trigger afternoon thunderstorms. Temperatures will remain in the low to mid 20C range with moderate westerly winds developing by midday with gusts reaching 40 to 50km/h with the highest gusts in the eastern portion. Morning precipitation once again will be wide spread then light. However, if afternoon daytime heating develops expect higher amounts. Clouds redevelop out of the west by evening bringing showers and a risk of thunderstorms back into the region overnight. Fort Frances: Sunny to a mix of sun and cloud in the west becoming cloudy in the east. A good chance of a morning shower or isolated thunderstorm giving a trace to 2mm with locally higher amounts in thunderstorms. Areas under cloud will clear by late afternoon into the evening. Winds will shift from southwest to northwest through the morning 10 to 15km/h with gusts 25-30km/h then become westerly by early afternoon reaching 15 to 20km/h with gusts 30-40km/h. RH values will range from the high 20% range in the west to 60% plus in the east. High 25C. Low 16C. Kenora: Becoming mainly sunny with patchy afternoon cloud. Winds northwesterly this morning 10 to 15km/h gusting 25-35km/h becoming westerly by late morning 15-25km/h gusts 35-45km/h. RH values will be in the 20 to 30% range. High 24C. Low 15C. Thunder Bay: Cloudy with showers and a risk of a thunderstorm giving trace to 2mm in the morning then redeveloping by afternoon giving 1 to 8mm and locally higher in thunderstorms. Gradual clearing developing by evening. Winds northwesterly this morning 15 to 20km/h gusting 30-40km/h becoming westerly by late afternoon and gradually diminishing for the rest of the day. RH values 50 to 60% plus. High 22 to 28C. Low 12 to 15C. Red Lake: Mainly sunny with patchy afternoon cloud. Increasing evening cloud with a chance of a shower and risk of a thunderstorm giving a trace to 8mm with locally higher amounts in the thunderstorms. Westerly winds 15 to 25km/h gusts increasing to 40-50km/h by late afternoon and diminish to gusts 25-35km/h overnight. RH values will be 30 to 40%. High 25C. Low 13C.
