INTRODUCTION Dear IVAO Member! We would like to welcome you to the Slovenian IVAO IFR Tour With 15 interesting legs, you will get to know Slovenia and neighboring airports. In this document, we would like to introduce you this tour and rules that you need to follow to successfully finish all legs. The main goal is that pilots have fun and enjoy the Slovenian and neighboring countries landscape flying IFR using Instrument Flight Rules. The other goal is to increase popularity of IFR traffic in this region and to increase overall traffic so that not only pilots can enjoy the IVAO network but also the Air Traffic Control that is available for all traffic. With this tour we would also like to refresh knowledge or to teach pilots how to correctly plan a IFR route, how to fill a Flight Plan and how to navigate along the IFR preplanned route. I hope that you will enjoy reading this document and flying Slovenian IFR Tour Completing this tour, you will achieve Division IFR Tour Award. Kind regards, Klemen Kaltnekar IVAO Slovenia Director

1. RULES AND GENERAL CONDITIONS There are few basic rules that you need to follow so that you successfully finish this IFR Tour. I. Follow IVAO Rules and Regulations. II. Legs must be flown online and with real weather (daytime is allowed). III. Legs must be flown with ATC online (maximum 2 legs can be flown without ATC). IV. Legs must be flown with normal simulation speed (1x). V. Pay attention to your flight plan. PIREPs with wrong ICAO codes, wrong flight rules, etc. will be rejected. VI. User may fly up to 2 legs per day. VII. Full guidelines are available in this document as well as on the tour reporting system in the specific section. VIII. Fly legs in the correct order and follow the recommended route. IX. Check for the latest sceneries so that all pilots use the correct airport layouts. There are many freeware sceneries available and are listed at each leg. IMPORTANT: please log on at least 6 minutes before departure and log off at least 6 minutes after arrival in order to let IVAO tracker log your flight data. Legs will be rejected if you do not comply with this. Aircraft for this tour must be one from the general aviation section. I. Piston engine aircraft. II. Category A aircraft (approach speed 90 knots or less). Forbidden are below aircraft. I. Medium and Heavy aircraft. II. Military non-training purpose or fighter aircraft. III. Category B, C, D, E aircraft. IV. Jet aircraft. For each completed flight you have to fill a report via IVAO Tours Reporting System. How to use this System is available in Guide. Note that you have to fill out the report correctly that it can be accepted. I. All times must be in UTC. II. Make sure to fill in the report with the same callsign used for the flight online. III. Maximum disconnection time 15 minutes, report disconnections in the PIREP's comments. Click to make your first report for IVAO Slovenia IFR Tour 2018.

2. AWARD For completing this IFR Tour you will be awarded with Division IFR Tour Award. 3. ADVICES 3.1 HOW TO CORRECTLY PLAN A IFR FLIGHT TRY TO LEARN NEW SKILLS WHILE FLYING IVAO SLOVENIA IFR TOUR To successfully complete any journey in a lifetime you have to start prepared. The main thing is to preplan your route of each flight. Before that, you have to check out for current and forecasted weather and check the latest NOTAMs on your route. For Slovenia and airports included in this tour, an excellent free weather service is available by the national meteorological agency. National Meteorological Service of Slovenia (Click Print, to get all METARs and TAFs from the map) Also, aviation wind, GAFOR and SIGMET charts are available. Free login for AIPs in Europe and more as well as for NOTAMs is available via Eurocontrol EAD. Also looking in AIPs, free charts are available for each airport and country s airspace. When you are fully aware of the meteo and navigational situation, you can start planning your IFR route. For things to be easier, examples are provided for each leg. On how to prepare for your flight, there is a nice tutorial form the IVAO in document General Aviation Flight Operations.. When you know where you will be flying you should check altitudes that you need to overfly the obstacles and when you have that, you should check which kind of airspaces you will cross. Note that airspaces classified G, F, E are uncontrolled, while D, C, B are controlled.

3.2 HOW TO CORRECTLY FILL IN THE FLIGHT PLAN Explanation of all fields of the ICAO FPL form is available in this document published by the EuroFPL. While IVAO explained very well on how to fill in a IVAO FPL in a training document Flightplan Understanding by the IVAO. Below is an example of correctly filled IVAO FPL for leg on. Note this is a short version while on the next page is a screenshot of an IVAO form. Filled Flight Plan in a form: The same Flight plan as above in a message: (FPL-S5DME-IG -C172/L-SDF/S -LJLJ1400 -N0115F090 VALLU -LJMB0030 -DOF/ REG/S5DME RMK/TRAINING FLIGHT)

Pay special attention to: I. I is for IFR flight and G stands for General Aviation flight. II. Check for correct aircraft type and check for your equipment in the cockpit (tick only what you have), usually new aircraft have Mode S transponder and that is the last letter in second row. III. Aerodrome of departure and time in UTC. IV. N is speed in TAS (in cockpit you see IAS which you need to convert to TAS according to your expected enroute altitude) while F is the filled level which expect enroute. Note that you need to use semi circular level which are 2000 / 4000 / 6000 to the west ( deg) and 3000 / 5000 / 7000 for the east ( deg). V. Destination is in fifth line with estimated time enroute from the departure aerodrome. VI. The last row is remark filed, where you can fill in the Date Of Flight, Registration, Estimated Elapsed Time when entering new FIR, Remarks IFR PHRASEOLOGY Phraseology is the way to communicate between the pilot and air traffic controller (ATC unit) for the purpose of ensuring uniformity in RTF communications. How to communicate while flying IFR is written in a training document IFR Phraseology by IVAO. Note that for a IFR flight it is mandatory to establish two-way radio communication at all times!

5. RESOURCES 5.1. SCENERIES On Slovenia scenery website, we have some recommended updates, that are made for the whole world or Europe or Slovenia. If you do not have any payware installed, I suggest that you check a free and very detailed (LOD10) mesh for the whole world that is available from FreeMesh X Global. With this addon, you get nicely shaped landscape around the world or you can just install the European continent. Hervé Sors makes monthly updates to the navaids and waypoints with updates to the magnetic variation included. FS Real Time updates time zones and correct DST movement. FREEWARE SLOVE NIA IVAO Slovenia division is trying to provide free sceneries for Slovenia airports. While learning the complexity of creating FS sceneries, some great add-ons were made and are updated when knowledge improves. Sceneries are available on IVAO Slovenia division website. X-plane, prepare 3D and FS9/FSX are supported although not for all airports. Ljubljana airport is available for all flight simulators while others are mainly made for FSX. PAYWARE Slovenia Scenery Team has made Slovenia 4 FSX Part 1 that covers eastern part of Slovenia and is available from Simmarket.

FREEWARE AUS TRIA Graz Airport is available from FS Terminal website and is available for FS2004 / FSX and X-plane. You can get a nice free Klagenfurt Airport scenery from Gianni s world website. PAYWARE Newly release Graz Airport scenery made by FSDG is available for FSX and Prepare 3D from their website. Also, Austria Professional X (and HD East) are available and covers part of the tour. PAYWARE ITALY Trieste Ronchi Airport is available from simmarket made by TropicalSim for FS2004 / FSX and P3D H UNGA RY FREEWARE For whole Hungary, very detailed addons are available from LHSimulations for free! Check their freeware zone to download FlyBalaton Sármellék LHSM airport and many other free sceneries.

CROA TIA FREEWARE Rijeka Airport is available as freeware and can be found on division webpage.. Also Pula Airport can be retrieved for free from Flightsim. PAYWARE Both Pula and Zagreb Airport can be bought on Simmarket. Specially Pula airport is very detailed and comes with a nice photoreal scenery of the south part of Istrian peninsula.

5.2. AIP AND CHARTS Charts and the information from the Aeronautical Information Publication are a big help to pilots before flying and also during the flight. Here will be listed the charts and information that you have to check and read before flight. For this, as suggested, you should create your EAD account for free access to all AIPs from the Europe region and further. Unfortunately, not all ANS providers have Electronic AIP available, that is why you have to access to them via EAD login. Check Eurocontrol website to see, which country has eaip and which one has only one published and accessed via free EAD Account. In every AIP you find enroute charts in Part 2 - ENR chapter 6, while aerodrome charts are in Part 3 - AD chapter 2 inside every subchapter of the relevant airport - charts are at the end of each aerodrome chapter SLOVE NIA Always current eaip Slovenia is available via Slovenia Control website. On IVAO Slovenia website we have links to the appropriate chapters. Ljubljana Airport charts are in chapter LJLJ AD The same goes for other airports, for IFR flight you should check Aerodrome layout and Standard instrument departure and arrival charts for your correct arrival and departure AUS TRIA Austria s eaip is available on this link. IVAO Austria has links for aerodrome charts to current eaip via their website ITALY IVAO Italy has available charts via their dedicated website. Although for official AIP of Italy you should access via EAD H UNGA RY eaip of Hungary is available via their website. IVAO Hungary has all charts available on the following link CROA TIA Croatia s official eaip can be found on this link.
