The publication is a travel guide book by Penguin Random House, a leading publisher in Europe. The endorsement comes barely a month after Kenya was named the world s leading safari destination at the World Travel Awards (WTA) held in December last year in Morocco. World s famous game reserve; Maasai Mara and Diani beach were also voted for the second time as Africa s leading National park and Africa s leading beach destination respectively. The government in partnership with the industry players will soon launch beach product improvement initiatives in light of charter incentives that are expected to increase visitation to the Kenyan coast. The government has rolled out a Kshs 1.2 Billion Charter Incentive Program that will see all tourist charters with passengers terminating at Moi International Airport Mombasa and Malindi Airport enjoy landing fee waiver.the charters will also benefit from a 30 USD passenger subsidy per seat filled by international passengers who terminate or disembark in Kenya over the same period. Majority of the tourists docking at the port of Mombasa are from the US, UK, Germany, Australia, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Canada, France, Ireland, Spain, Brazil, New Zealand, Ukraine, Mexico, Russia, Denmark, Netherlands, Norway,, Italy, Belgium, Portugal among others. While in Mombasa, cruise tourists are treated to a full day excursions within the city and its environs. The excursions are undertaken in Bombolulu, Haller Park, Amboseli (by air), Shimba Hills, Mwalughanje and other city tours. The Ministry of Tourism has launched a Kshs 30 million SMS campaign to woo in domestic travelers as part of its recovery strategy. At the same time, the government will soon be unveiling a collaborative strategy on tourism promotion with the county governments to enhance tourism product diversity in the country.
