Your tour begins in Chiang Rai Destiny Rescue s base, and unravels along aproximately 1500 kms of fantastic biking roads around Northern Thailand encompassing both the stunning and bizarre! Days will be full of interesting scenery through corkscrew winding stretches and traversing mountainous landscapes. Nights will be a time to unwind, connect with fellow riders and partake in some of the country s finest food. 2 Ride For Freedom - Itinerary This itinerary is intended as a guide only. We need to be fairly flexible with our itinerary as some things are often outside of our control in this part of the world. Weather and road conditions can change without warning. TRAVEL DAY 1 Fly into Bangkok (overnight in BKK) Fly to Thailand, landing in Bangkok in the morning or early afternoon, depending on your flight schedule. Take the free shuttle bus to your hotel. The shuttle will return you to the airport the following morning. TRAVEL DAY 2 - Fly to Chiang Rai (from Bangkok) Fly to Chiang Rai in the morning landing around 10am. We will pick you up from the airport and check you into your Hotel; then get you introduced to the bike you ll be riding. Dinner and ride briefing will occur with the team at the Destiny Rescue Café before an early night in preparation for the big ride the next day. RIDE Day 1 Destination - Bo Kluea We depart in the morning after a big breakfast at the Destiny Rescue Café for our first day s ride on some of the most amazing winding roads through the ranges east. We will arrive high in the mountains at Bo Kluea where we will check in, relax over a few drinks and prepare for the next day s ride down the mountain. RIDE Day 2 Destination - Phayao A ride down the mountain to Nan for lunch then west across a few amazing ranges to the lake city of Phayao. We will check into our hotel and relax. You will have time for a massage if you like. The lake is an amazing place to walk and photograph. Dinner will be your choice of either Thai food or Burgers overlooking the lake. RIDE Day 3 Destination - Chiang Mai More great roads with plenty of twists and turns awaits you this day as we head toward Thailand s second biggest city. The final 30 minute ride will be in and around Chiang Mai s bustling streets on our way to the hotel a ride you will not soon forget. Dinner will be your choice of Thai Market food and there is plenty to choose from. RIDE Day 4 Tourist Day in Chiang Mai This day is set aside for free fun time. Go Zip lining through ancient Thai forests, fish for massive catfish in a nearby lake, take an ATV ride (quad bike) through the jungle or simply take it easy in town, do some shopping or take in a movie. Dinner tradition in Chiang Mai is Miguel s an amazing Mexican Restaurant. RIDE Day 5 Destination - Pai 762 curves on the road to Pai need we say more? RIDE Day 6 Free Day in Pai A fabulous little mountain town with much to see and do A day trip to Lod Cave in Pangmapha is planned where you will take a traditional bamboo raft journey up the river that runs through the bat-lined caverns. A photographer s dream adventure. RIDE Day 7 Back to Chiang Rai This is a full ride day to make it back to Chiang Rai. The route takes us right to the edge of Thailand s Westerly border with Burma through some amazing mountain roads. Lunch at Fang before heading off to Chiang Rai. Get settled back into the hotel and then off to the Destiny Rescue Café for dinner and Night Bazaar Market shopping. TRAVEL Days 8 & 9 Chiang Rai / Bangkok / Home The end of a fantastic journey. We return the bikes to the hire company in the morning after breakfast. By this stage the Ride For Freedom has officially ended. You are free to have your home flights booked to leave Chiang Rai this day. Alternatively, stay and play in the lovely North, it is entirely up to you.

3 Ride For Freedom - Price & Details $3,500 + $1,500 Rescue A Child Fundraising Component Fundraise for the $1,500 or for the entire amount, it is up to you. Payment of the entire $5,000 is required prior to takeoff. INCLUDED: Flights from Major capital cities to Bangkok. Bangkok to Chiang Rai - then back home. Accommodation during the period of the ride. All Meals during the ride. All Non Alcoholic Drinks with each meal. Bike Hire (Likely to be a Honda CRF 250L.) 1 x fun outing of your choice in Chiang Mai. 1 x fun outing to Lod Caves in Pai. NOT INCLUDED: Travel Insurance Vacinations Extra Riding Gear - (ie. Rain Gear, Gloves etc.) Alcohol (Beer, Wine & Spirits are not covered.) Personal Shopping (ie. 4 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS 1.) What bike will I be riding? The bike options are: Honda CRF 250L (included in your package) Honda CB 500X (will cost AUD$350 extra, payable up front with Tour fee payment) 2.) Can anyone come? Yes, if you hold a full, valid drivers licence from the country in which you reside, and an open motorcycle license with more than 2 years open road riding experience. Plus your Tour Application is approved. 3.) What kind of riding experience will I need? The Northern Thailand route is quite good for 95% of the time, and there are vast sections of open road highway riding within traffic. However condition are always changing and weather can also play a big factor... Therefore, we require at least 2 years on an open license with open road riding experience to help you navigate changing and sometimes challenging road conditions. 4.) Can I tandem with my friend? No, we ve found there s no room for a pillion and luggage you will need for 7 days on the road. One bike/one rider. 5.) How much luggage can I bring? We recommend you have a backpack, and/or an equivalent sized bag that could either be strapped to the back seat behind the rider, with room for 7 days clothing. Some riders have had both a backpack/camera travel bag on their back and a bag (like the Caribee Waterproof Bag pictured) strapped on the back seat. All bags should be either fully waterproof, have waterproof covers or wrapped in plastic bags prior to being strapped down as rain storms can be unpredictable. * Please also bring a couple of Bungee Cords, if your travel bag doesn t already come with tie down straps.

5 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (continued) 6.) What would be essential for me to pack? Definitely your Passport & ID & emergency contact details. Protective riding gear, including Helmet, Jacket, Gloves & some sort of Rain Gear (if you don t plan to buy it here). Sun screen, insect repellent, a little spare Thai Baht, Smart Phone & headphones, spare jeans, jacket/jumper (it can actually get cold if you get wet!... a few pairs of shorts and t-shirts, thongs/sandals for wearing around town. 7.) Do I need an International Drivers Permit? Thailand now requires that all foreigners must hold an International Drivers Permit (IDP) - and these are very easily attained. See link below as a starting point. Do not leave home without this. Fines and quite a lot of inconvienience await you (and the rest of the tour riders) if you are pulled over. The Thai police in both Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai are increasing their English speaking staff to target foreigners. 8.) Who will be hosting us on the ride? Your hosts are members from the Destiny Rescue staff and volunteers, including a mechanic. All are seasoned riders and have ridden this Northern Thailand Route many times. 9.) Should I take out travel insurance? Personal travel insurance is mandatory and not included in the cost of the tour. It is a condition of your booking with us that each person or each member of a group booking, has travel insurance covering for riding a motorcycle of 250cc or more (not in competition). If you fail to take out travel insurance, you understand that you do so at your own risk. We advise that your travel insurance covers medical, repatriation, liability insurance and personal accident cover as a minimum. 10.) Can I buy any riding gear in Thailand? Yes, some riding gear can be bought in Chiang Rai. (Dealer website: Although we cannot garantee the stock you see on the website will be there for sale when you want it. However, we would much prefer you arrived with your own tried and tested, well fitting riding gear, to avoid any problems. *NOTE: Most of the gear is manufactured in China, and to be fair, most of it is actually fairly good quality for the price. We doubt it would meet Australian or USA safety standards. Jackets and trousers, rain proof gear, helmets and gloves can all be bought in Chiang Rai.
