Euro-Mini-Jam For several years the idea of a joint Scouting/Guiding event and further cooperation amongst the small nations of Europe had been discussed. The ASSOCIATION DES GUIDES ET SCOUTS DE MONACO (AGSM) attended a meeting that was held in Iceland in March The goal of the meeting was to develop the idea of a Euro-Mini-Jam with participants from all of the NSO s/mo s from the small nations of Europe. After two very successful Euro-Mini-Jams AGSM offered to host the third Euro-Mini-Jam in Monaco in the summer of 2016, and now it is becoming a reality. Participants from the following nations will be attending: Cyprus Faroe Islands Gibraltar Iceland Liechtenstein Monaco Let us recall the aims of the Euro-Mini-Jam: To create a common platform for the members of the NSO s and SAGNO s to experience and embrace the similarities as well as the differences between the nations. To strengthen the relationships between Scouts and Guides from the small states of Europe. To introduce the different cultures to the Scouts and Guides. To give Scouts and Guides opportunities to gain awareness of being a member of a world movement and to emphasize the kinship of Scouting and Guiding. To reinforce individual development of participants through joyful experiences. To give participants the possibility of challenging themselves and of competing amongst each other in friendly Scouting and Guiding games. To provide opportunities for NSO s and SAGNO s to host an international event and to provide opportunities for the leaders and staff to develop their individual skills by organising and executing an international event. Theme and Slogan The name of the event is Euro-Mini-Jam. The theme of this 3 rd Euro-Mini-Jam in Monaco is: "Take the plunge!" Page 3 of 12

Cooking There will be a central cooking facility during the Euro-Mini-Jam. Meals will be provided. The dinning location will be shown upon your arrival. Menu We have given great attention to quality and a healthy menu (Mediterranean diet). You will be introduced to some of our typical dishes. We will also make sure that all participants rehydrate well because, in summer, Monaco temperatures can be really high. Breakfast will be served on the campsite; lunch will generally be a cold take away pack and dinner will be a hot meal. Special dietary requirements must be advised in advance. Please contact Marie-Hélène Gamba. On-Site Information Board At the Euro-Mini-Jam camp there will be an information board. There we will post all changes (if any) to the programme, post information about the programme (meeting points and times), and more. Wifi and Electricity We are planning Wifi on Site. There will for sure be Wifi available at the camp headquarters. There will be limited access to electricity in the camp headquarters Medical insurance Make sure you have your own personal medical insurance. Make sure the policy covers Scouting activities Prerequisites to be sent before travel: Medical certificate stating no contra indication to any water activities Proof of swimming ability Ruby Card You will be receiving a My Ruby Card from one of our sponsors. 8 Equipment List Since you will be camping, you need to bring a lot of equipment. However, you don t have to worry about bringing kitchen equipment as the cooking will be provided by the hosts, and the site will have a centralised cooking area. You will have to bring your plate, mug, cutlery and any other personal utensils to be able to eat the food, but transporting such things is not a problem. You also need to bring personal belongings such as tents, sleeping bags and mattresses. July is characterized by warm, long days. Plenty of sunshine and very little rain (aver temp. 24 C). Our Mountain activity will take us for 2 days in the Mercantour National Park where weather, whilst hot during summer days, can change rapidly with chilly nights. We want to make sure that you will be comfortable during your stay in Monaco, so here are a few guidelines: Sleeping bags: You need a sleeping bag that is comfortable down to 0 C (not for our Monaco campsite though but rather for the hike that will be held in the Alps approx. 2,000m alt). Not that we necessarily expect such a low temperature, but just in case. Tents: We understand that everyone has different needs when it comes to tents. Make sure that there are no poles or pegs missing, as it might be hard to replace them once you start putting up your tent in the middle of nowhere in the mountains. You have to make sure that your tent can sustain quite a bit of rain and that it is safely fastened to the ground, as you never know when the wind might start blowing. Hike: Tents will NOT be provided for the hike. The tents, your mattresses and your sleeping bags will be transported by car to the sleeping destination, along with breakfast and lunch for the next day. You have to bring a daypack for the hike. It has to be big enough to carry food for lunch and water for the entire day, warm and waterproof clothes, clothes. Sleeping mattresses: Bring one. It is really cold lying on the ground. Backpacks: As always, the most comfortable way to travel is to have all your belongings in one big backpack. You also need to bring a daypack for the hike. Clothing: For chilly evenings in the mountains - A good sweater and a wind proof jacket and/or trousers should be fine. It is advisable to bring at least: - Rain and windproof outer garments, a heavy (warm) sweater. - A medium heavy shirt, waterproof hiking boots; - A pair of warm socks; - Hat (warm), gloves, underwear. Page 8 of 12

For warm Monaco days: - Swimsuit x 2, goggles, and towels x 2 => Take The Plunge; - Sun cream factor 50, cap, sunglasses; - Water bottle; - Sneakers or other comfortable, everyday outdoor footwear. - Shoes that can go in water Other: - Passport or EU Identity Card; - Your own medical insurance; - Items for personal hygiene (soap, shampoo etc.); - Small flashlight... Country items: Your country s flag (for a regular flagpole); Something to represent your country on the international evening; please follow the instructions set out above. REMEMBER THAT THIS IS NOT AN EXHAUSTIVE LIST. THIS LIST CAN ALSO CHANGE, SO CHECK THE WEBSITE AGAIN A FEW DAYS BEFORE DEPARTURE. Camp rules 1. Park rules Due to Monaco peculiarities we invite you to an urban Jamboree. The campsite has been organized in a public park which will be closed to the public. We therefore have to abide by the rules set out by the park. A translation of the park's rules can be found in addendum Uniform and Clothing Scout or Guide uniforms must be worn for official occasions as outlined on page 6. Additional activities where Scout or Guide uniform should be worn might be added during the event. In order to show respect to different cultures, participants must be appropriately dressed at all times. 3. Identification For safety and security reasons all participants must wear their Euro-Mini-Jam Identification bracelet during the entire time of Euro-Mini-Jam. 4. Interpersonal Relations It is forbidden to indulge in attitudes, actions or activities, which go against the physical, psychological or moral integrity of a person, or which may damage his or her emotional stability. Participants are expected to show mutual respect and not to display attitudes of intimacy. Page 9 of 12

5. Punctuality It is very important to observe timetables. Being on time is essential for the proper organization of activities. In order to ensure that all Scouts/Guides are capable of participating fully in all activities, silence will be observed from 22h30 to 06h Alcohol and Tobacco For health, educational and safety reasons the Euro-Mini-Jam is a non-smoking and nonalcoholic event. Smoking is only allowed during rest periods and in areas specifically set aside and marked for that purpose. Throwing cigarette ends out in the nature is strictly forbidden. It is not permitted to carry, consume or sell alcoholic drinks during the event. Violation if this rule will lead to expulsion, at the cost of their delegation, without exception. 7. Drugs Possession, consumption or supply of any kind of illegal drugs is strictly forbidden. Anyone found in possession of, consuming or supplying such substances will be expelled from the Euro-Mini-Jam immediately. Possession and consumption of drugs (other than for medical reasons) is strictly forbidden by Monaco law, all such matters will be handed over to the Monaco Police. 8. Commerce and Gambling Only the Euro-Mini-Jam Planning team can promote or allow authorised commerce on the site. Gambling is not allowed at any time. 9. Damage and Losses Participants will be personally responsible for property damages resulting from improper actions and their consequences. Serious assault or theft will result in an immediate expulsion from the Euro-Mini-Jam. All such matters will be handed over to the Monaco Police. 10. Personal Belongings Participants are responsible for their own belongings at all times. The Euro-Mini-Jam Planning team or the AGSM cannot be held responsible for any loss of or damage to personal belongings. 11. Weapons It is not permitted to bring any kind of weapons, such as firearms, knives or laser lights, to the Euro-Mini-Jam site, or to possess them. During the activities held within the city (Monaco) no knives will be allowed. Pocket knives can be tolerated in the camp or in the mountains only. 12. Fire During Euro-Mini-Jam, open fire is only allowed in the camp hearth and in prepared fireplaces approved by the camp staff. Please respect the fire regulations. Page 10 of 12

13. Vehicles Traffic of motorized vehicles is forbidden at the Euro-Mini-Jam site, except with permission from the Euro-Mini-Jam team. Only service, security and emergency vehicles are allowed to enter when necessary. 14. Security Camp security at Euro-Mini-Jam is the responsibility of all leaders and staff. Everybody in the Euro- Mini-Jam is kindly asked to cooperate with their leaders. 15. On-site presence In case of emergency, the Euro-Mini-Jam staff must be able to locate all participants. In the event of the need for any absence from the site for safety and security reasons the national leader and member from the Euro-Mini-Jam team must be informed and must give his or her permission. 16. Swimming Swimming in the sea is only allowed during the agreed timetable and conditions. 17. Toilets Toilet areas should be treated with respect for privacy and in a way that ensures the correct functioning of the toilets. 18. Waste We need everybody s help to keep the area clean and to protect the environment. An easy way of helping us is to put all waste (sealed in plastic bags) in the bins available for this purpose. Do not forget to separate the waste. 19. Environment Nature (in the mountains) or the public park (in Monaco) is sensitive and therefore we ask you to keep the following in mind: - Please walk on the marked trails and paths whenever possible. - Use shampoos and soaps that are environmentally friendly and as little as possible. - Turn off the taps if you are not using them. - It is absolutely forbidden to cut, carve on or damage trees. - Bushes may not be cut. - Separate the waste. - Never throw any waste in the countryside. 20. Phones Participants must keep their mobile phones on silent during activities. The Euro-Mini-Jam team will evaluate any problems or cases where these rules have been disregarded and will involve the national leaders in the actions to be taken. The Euro-Mini-Jam team will also consider and evaluate any omissions or exceptional cases that are not addressed by these rules. Page 11 of 12

Triathlon Challenge 1 We believe that intergenerational link is essential. We will therefore meet with some elderly members of our community. We ask you to prepare at least two songs that are typical from your country and or scout patrol. You will offer a five minute recital and help the staff serving the residents whilst visiting four retirement homes Challenge 2 The second challenge will test your powers of observation and your acting capabilities. You will be asked to make a short presentation (3min) of what makes your country unique and remarkable. During the closing ceremony you will then be asked to adapt what you understand about the host country (Monaco), for the stage (3min). Challenge 3 The third challenge will test your ingenuity, your decorating talent, your team work, and team coordination. At this stage we do not want to disclose any further details. However this task will be fun and challenging Page 12 of 12
