We have been paddling these lakes for more than 30 years, as guides, as parents, with friends, for fun. Shelby and Daniel began taking canoe trips as infants.we love these woods. Your northwoods experience will have begun. Our location provides easy access to some of the most remote areas in this Minnesota-Canadian Wilderness. You can paddle away from our docks on Round Lake or Saganaga, or we will transport you to one of several entry points in our area. We ll help to customize a canoe trip for you. When you drive into Tuscarora, you will see immaculate grounds that indicate the kind of care and attention that we put into everything. What we do Plan your trip We will facilitate this crucial step for the success of your BWCA/Quetico Wilderness adventure. Having paddled these lakes, we are eager to customize a trip for your group. We are ready to listen: How far do you want to paddle? Have you been here before? What kind of fish do you seek? Do you prefer larger lakes or smaller waters? Are you looking for moose? Let us help to plan the trip that is right for you. Overnight facilities are available before and/or after your trip. Your private bunkhouse is a convenient, clean and quiet place for making your final packing decisions and preparing to embark. Serve your breakfast You will want to reserve a spot for a hot breakfast served in our dining hall the morning you start your trip. Offer our Trading Post For your convenience, we have a Trading Post with fishing tackle, personal items, souvenirs, snacks, t-shirts, and Minnesota DNR fishing licenses. Provide tow service on Saganaga Lake We have a launch service to give you a head start and save you approximately 6 hours of paddling across Saganaga. Many clients entering Quetico Park use our motorized tow service to reach the Canadian Ranger Station early in the day. Arrange for fly-in or guided trips While most customers have successful trips without guides, we offer guide service and/or fly in services for those seeking more remote trips. Offer fishing advice You will find excellent fishing in this region. We have lake trout, walleyes, northern pike and bass. We carry a full line of fishing tackle. We ll advise you on recommended fishing areas as well as the types of lures needed. Secure your permit The BWCA and Quetico parks have entry quotas. We would like to secure your permit as soon as you can specify a date to enter the woods. You can pick up your BWCA permit at Tuscarora, or we will arrange for a Quetico permit to be issued at the Canadian Ranger Station. Supply your equipment We have the latest in ultra light gear. Be assured that your equipment is clean, well maintained, and perfect for traveling the BWCA. Need complete outfitting? This is a great value, and you arrive with only your personal items and a sense of adventure. Just need a canoe? We are pleased to help you in any way that we can. Pack your food We assemble an ultra light food pack with high quality fresh and freeze-dried foods packaged conveniently per meal. The meals have generous portions, are lightweight, delicious and can be prepared quickly. See our website for food choices. 4 Suggested Canoe Routes Listed below are a few of the many canoe routes in our Route #4 Start at Gunflint landing traveling north to Magnetic Lake. Travel north via an old Voyageur route down the Granite River which flows north through Clove, Gneiss, Devil s Elbow and Maraboeuf. End at Saganaga. This scenic trip with some rapids to portage around is considered fairly easy, and takes an average of 4 days. Great fishing for Smallmouth Bass, Walleyes and Northern Pike. Route #1 averages 4 to 7 days and is moderately difficult. The loop starts at our dock on Round Lake. Portage to Missing Link, Tuscarora, Owl, Crooked, Gillis, Bat, Green, Flying, Gotter, Brant, Edith, West Round and end at Round Lake. Fishing includes Lake Trout and Northern Pike. Route #5 is a challenging, more advanced trip within Canada s Quetico Park that takes an average of 7 days. Start at Saganaga, go to Cache Bay on the Canadian side, then to Saganagons. Take the Kawnipi River to Kawnipi Lake and return by the same Falls Chain. Excellent fishing for Walleye, Smallmouth Bass, Lake Trout and Northern Pike. Visit many gorgeous waterfalls. To save you up to six hours of paddling on either end of your trip, take a tow boat shuttle across Saganaga Lake to American Point. immediate area. See for additional maps and details. Please feel free to call us at so we can most effectively help to customize your trip. Route #2 starts at the Cross Bay Lake landing just down our driveway, and is considered moderately difficult. Travel south through Ham, Cross Bay, Rib, Lower George, Karl, Long Island, Muskeg, Kiskadina, Omega, Henson, Gaskin, Horseshoe, Caribou, Lizz and finish at Poplar Lake. Walleyes, Northern Pike, Smallmouth Bass, and Lake Trout. This route takes an average of 4 days and features 21 moderate portages. Route #3 Starts at Seagull Lake. Travel to Alpine, Jasper, Kingfisher, Ogishkemuncie, Eddy, South Arm of Knife, turn north to Hanson, Ester, Ottertrack, and end on Saganaga. This moderately difficult trip takes an average of 4-5 days. Great trip with excellent fishing for Walleye, Bass, Northern Pike and Lake Trout. Some larger lakes make it possible to see a lot of land without excessive portaging. Route #3A Starts at Seagull Lake. Travel to Alpine, Jasper, Kingfisher, Ogishkemuncie, Eddy, Knife, Ottertrack, and end on Saganaga. This trip takes an average of 5 days, has 9 portages, and offers the same great fishing as in Route #3. Route #6 is an easy 4-day trip by canoe or kayak on Saganaga Lake only. Start at Tuscarora private dock at Saganaga, travel to American Point on Day One. On Day Two, travel to Red Rock Bay for your second night camping. Day Three travel east to James Bay and stay for your last night. Return to Saganaga dock. No portaging necessary as you explore this large lake. Excellent fishing for Walleye, Smallmouth Bass, Lake Trout and Northern Pike. Route #7 is a challenging 8-10 day trip that starts at Round Lake. Travel to Missing Link, Tuscarora, Owl, Crooked, Mora, Little Saganaga, turn south to Elton, Bear, Pan, through the Kawishiwi River to Alice, Insula, north to Thomas, Frazer, Kekekabic, then east to Ogishkemuncie, Jasper, Alpine, and end at Seagull. This adventure takes you through the best canoe country in Minnesota and is very remote. Excellent fishing for Walleye, Smallmouth Bass, Lake Trout and Northern Pike.

5 Tow Service Policies We offer tow service across Saganaga Lake from our private landing. We will transport you, your canoes and gear to or from entry points on Sag, thereby saving you up to 6 hours in paddling time. Tow rates below are per person, with a two-passenger minimum charge. Shuttles are complementary with Complete Outfitting, Partial Outfitting and Canoe Rental within nine miles from our base. Shuttles more than nine miles away will incur a charge of $2.00/vehicle/mile one-way from our base. We will be happy to secure the required BWCAW permit to be picked up at Tuscarora, or arrange for a Quetico permit to be issued at the Canadian Ranger Station in Cache Bay. To ensure your choice of date and route, we would like to apply for these limited permits as soon as possible. Traveling groups are strictly limited to nine people. If your group has more than nine, we will obtain different permits to facilitate different travel routes. The applications are processed through the Canadian Immigration Center (807) ; A link to the application is also availble on the Links page of our web site (). The processing can take up to 6 weeks, must be handled through the mail, and will cost $30/person (or family). You cannot cross into Canada remotely without this permit. U.S. Passports are required for re-entry to the United States. $64 $ 39 $24 Is this your first trip? Many of our visitors are first time BWCA paddlers. We will help orient you to the woods, introduce you to the gear, give you camping tips and orienteering tips, and choose a trip just for you. You need not hesitate: we will make sure that you feel comfortable and confident as you head out into the woods. There is no more perfect time to take a canoe trip. Reservations We request a $100 deposit per person for complete outfitting, $50 per person for partial outfitting, plus applicable permit fees. Housekeeping Cabins Tuscarora offers six housekeeping cabins located on Round Lake. There are no other resorts or private homes here, only Superior National Forest to surround you.

It has a double bed and two single beds in a combined living/bedroom area. Open May through mid-september. This three-bedroom lakeside cabin with a deck has 3 queen sized beds and a woodstove.

All of our cabins have full kitchens and full bathroom facilities. Cabin rental includes sheets, towels, kitchen utensils and firewood.

We ve never been to an outfitting business where the dining, sleeping and shower facilities were soooooo clean.
