From here we head North East passing steeply terraced farmland and houses that seem to be clinging to the hillside (a gradual climb of 20km). The rest of the day is free for maybe short walk to Barkhor Square to stretch our legs and follow the crowds into the square which gives us the sensation of slipping into a medieval carnival. This is the cardinal landmark and a structure that deserves a place as one of the wonders of eastern architecture and it looks best from a distance. It is also great to view in the evenings from either the rooftop of our hotel or taking a stroll to the front of the Potala Palace. Meals: breakfast Accommodation: Hotel. Day 6: Acclimatisation day - Lhasa - sightseeing - 3,680 mt After breakfast we will start cycling to Drepung Monastery. On a clear day you will be rewarded for your effort with your first view of Mount Everest. After a 40 km descent down you will arrive in the town of Pelbar (Often referred to as Shegar).
