3 Welcome to the 2013 Bungay Summer Festival For over 25 years the Bungay Festival has celebrated the diverse activities our many organisations have to offer. This year we have organised additional events for everyone to enjoy as well as many of the old favourites As a result of the poor weather that we have experienced over the last couple of Festivals, we have hopefully weather proofed some of the bigger events by retaining the marquee on the Castle Meadow for the second week. The marquee will be the venue for the popular Festival Ball, the Happy Monday Community Meal and two concerts one by the renowned Clare Teal & her Band and the other Magical Musicals. There will also be a World Wine Tasting & Quiz This year s Festival theme is Chickens a reference to Bungay s connection to the famous Chicken Roundabout. Join in the shop window competition. I am sure the Kids Fun Day and The Teddy Bears Picnic will be popular with the children and for the adults the popular Ale Trails make a welcome return, Shakespeare*, Exhibitions and lots more detailed in this programme. Many, many people have devoted time, effort (and funds!) to make this year s festival a success. To them, my thanks. To you: enjoy everything Bungay has to offer! Keith Parker Festival Chairman * Watch out too for the Globe Theatre s return to Bungay later in the summer. Events which run for more than one day are indicated in the programme. 3
