1 Centre 9 East Midlands February 2019 Centre Rep Chattering Hi Everybody It was a bit odd not having a Centre meet in January due to New Year s Day. I know several of our members have been abroad to sunnier climes and have returned to awful weather. I am sure you have all had a great time, we have enjoyed your photos. We started the New year at The Newark Bike Show with our VSOC stand erected by our Lincoln crew. There were a number of our members visiting over the weekend and they chatted to prospective members, more from Rachel in her write up. Thanks everybody for your support. A big welcome to our new Members, all joined at the Newark Show, Max Baker, Rob Rodgers and Georgina Statham. I met Stephen Neale at the Railway Inn who was invited by Chris Healey to his Leicester meet to experience Lostriders hospitality. He signed on the dotted line welcome Stephen. Then came Captain Dave s annual cruise down the River Trent, it had a Mexican theme and raised 128 for Blood Bikes, thanks Dave and Jennifer, more from Dave Back to Lincolnshire to Springfields at Spalding for another bike show organised by Steve and Katie. Steve and Katie showed their bikes with Andy and Challey, with a few members dropping in over the weekend, thank you all for your support, more from Katie and Steve Don t forget if you have any ideas for our Events or ride-outs calendar please contact me asap as I would like to print the years programme soon, it is 95% complete. I am taking bookings for the annual Bowls Carvery bonding lunch on Sunday, 17th March at Long Eaton. The flyer is on the website and in the Newsletter. Please support this event, this will be the last Raffle for Blood Bikes. The Gathering of the Clans route and the day s events are now finalized, Fat Skeleton AKA Paul Burdass is kindly sponsoring the patch, this has saved the club over 200, thanks Paul on behalf of the club. Don t forget Fat Skeleton gives all members 10% discount and has lots of special offers online and in the shop. At the Vale Club we will be presenting Members anniversary patches for 5,10,15,20 and 25 years, Best Bike trophies, roast pork cobs, hot drinks and Bev s cupcakes, Lostriders merchandise, Blood Bikes cheque presentation, welcome incoming Charity for 2019/20 and a Raffle. Membership Renewals are due, please check your details are correct. Your BMF code with YOUR new membership is CLB 19FJH. We must vote for our incoming Charity at our March Centre meet, the proposed charity so far is The Friary drop-in centre, West Bridgeford. This charity was our secondchoice last year, they work with the local homeless and vulnerable adults to rebuild their lives by offering them practical servers, advice and emotional help, food, clothing, health and hygiene facilities, soft furnishings, bedding and lots more. We can help, not just with money but warm coats, sleeping bags, and even tents etc. Looking forward to hearing your views. That s all folks, looking forward to riding my bike it s been 10 months but I m getting stronger by the week. Ride safe Kevin K

2 Editor Hi Folks Well, it s February already, January seems to have whizzed by. I m glad to say my bike s now back together and Ron s treated me to a new exhaust. I m really looking forward to riding it, just need some dry days and a few more degrees of heat. I m not keen on riding in the cold, as I m always telling Ron I m a delicate little flower not sure he agrees though! After hearing the virtues of heated jackets from Rachel and Cathy I ve got myself one too, so hopefully that will keep me snug. Both Ron and I went to the Spalding Bike Show on the Sunday and it was lovely to meet and see so many Lost Riders. I was very impressed at those displaying their bikes as it must have been freezing riding there and back. Cathy was displaying her Bolt with a personalised paint job it is lovely, I ve so got sparkle envy now! As you ll see from the Events Diary, in July there s a ride-out ending at ours for a BBQ. It would lovely to see you here. There s also a Bike Night in April at one of the local pubs in North Somercotes, the Axe & Cleaver great pub perhaps if it s a nice evening some of you might be able to make it. I didn t get any response on the Wanted, Sales or Freebies so I m not sure if it s a good idea or not. If you have anything you d like me to advertise or any views of whether to continue with it not please drop me an . Well, that s it for this month from me. Lots of thanks to all that have contributed to this Newsletter. Ride safe Fran Lincolnshire Area Rep The weekend of the 5/6 January saw us at the Newark Classic Show. Trevor and myself set off on Friday with our 2 Virago s to meet Mike Turner and Terry Ashby. A few hours later the stand was ready for the start of the show on Saturday. Saturday morning Neil Armitage arrived on his Dragstar and Charlie followed shortly behind with provisions for the day. This is a lovely show and is a welcome break after Christmas. The show seemed busier than previous years and people started filling the hall from 09:30 which was surprising as we were in the hall furthest from the entrance. There was a steady flow of enquiries and visitors to the stand until well after 3. Sunday Steve and Cath joined us and again, it was another busy day and we managed to sign up 3 new members all of which are Centre 9 which is great. A big welcome to Rob, Max and George.

3 It has been too cold to get the bikes out this month and hope things improve soon as I m starting to get withdrawal symptoms. A big thanks to Steve and Cath for once again manning the Springfield s Show. We were due to visit on Sunday but got half way there and had to turn around due to car issues. I understand that they had plenty of interest. They didn t manage to sign anybody up but it s always good to get our name out there and hopefully they may become members in the future. Thanks also goes to Wendy and Dave who came to the rescue and brought the items from the stand back for us. On Friday 8 February we are off the Butlins, Bognor Regis for the bootleg weekend with fellow members of the VSOC. If it s anything like last year we are in for a brilliant time. Our next meeting is on Tuesday 12th February, at the Jolly Scotsman. Look forward to seeing you there. Ride safe. Rachel Up-date from Leicestershire Area Rep There was a good turnout at the Leicester meeting in January with 14 members attending. A new member joined at the meeting, Steve Neale we d like welcome Steve to the club. Paul Harrison has confirmed the 3 rd August for the Jukebox Party at his house. Thank you Paul. Chris Healey Message from Ryan, Webmaster Please can you send any photos taken on Ride-outs or at other events to webmaster@lostriders.co.uk. They can then be uploaded onto the website for all to enjoy. Many thanks Lost Riders River Cruise 2019 Well, we've had another great day out on the river Trent for C9 and some of our friends from C8 on our 5th trip! My how time flies! We all arrived safely and cast off at We made our way up the river for an hour and a half to the turning point. Along the way we enjoyed a lovely roast beef Sunday dinner and apple pie and custard to follow, served by the friendly and helpful staff on-board who came around with extra helpings for those who had room.

4 Over all a fantastic fun day out, especially at this time of year when we can't get out on our bikes. There was 128 raised on the day: 37 raffle on a hand-made model bike, 35 for the quiz and 56 on our usual raffle. So Well Done to everyone who made the day a great success. A round of applause and many thanks were given to myself Deputy Rep and Captain for the day David and my First Mate Jennifer. David The fancy dress this year was Mexican, with a few hombres and senoras entering into the spirit of the theme, wearing sombreros and ponchos. The winner of the best fancy dress chosen by a member of the boat crew was Gilly Bywater, who received a prize for her efforts of a "Fajita Kit", which made her smile for some reason! There was also a quiz and the team winners received a box of chocolates with a booby prize for the losers as well.
