Ken explained that although he has enjoyed the last year he feels that his family commitments are going to be taking up more of his time as his and Becky s parents are elderly and they have to keep travelling back down south so he feels it is not fair to be in the role and he would not be able to commit fully We have had one applicant for Vice Rep so I am going to hand over to Jo to propose the nominations for the new committee. 6 Write Up Chill Out Weekend August 2018 The chill out weekend this year proved to be a bit of mission as a lot of sites do not allow groups or we couldn t find anywhere with somewhere to walk to etc etc Eventually we remembered a site we had visited a few years ago that had a barn that groups could use so although some people didn t travel far we opted for Ribchester because after all it doesn t matter where you are when in good company. Dale Hey Caravan Park at Ribchester was the chosen place and for those of you that have a caravan/motorhome this is a great site so try it one time. The camping area was in a little wooded area slightly away from the caravans and was lovely. We all camped, we had about four bikes and everyone else came in the car with comforts! Brian, Liz, Bob and I had barbecues to bring so that was our excuse so of course we packed pillows and duvets!!! Friday night was down the local pub, Black Bull. Google said it was a twelve minute walk down a hill so of course that meant uphill back but I convinced Sarah it was just a slight brew. Sarah led the merry party to the Pub where we had some good home cooked food and a few beers before us all gradually disappearing to go back to the tents. Sarah loved the walk back with three fella s helping her along up the slight brew by placing their hands on her backside and giving her a little push along! She disputes it was a slight brew! The next morning was a leisurely morning with us all sat about chatting and having breakfast before walking down the brew for the little local bus into Clitheroe for the food festival. The queue formed at the bus stop and we soon realised it was going to be a squeeze and it was, we had to stand for 40 minutes into Clitheroe, whilst the bus went down country lanes at speed with us all laughing with the locals. Clitheroe was packed, all the streets lined with food stalls so we made a decision that there was no way we would keep everyone together, so we would meet at 2pm onwards at the Bowland Brewery and get the 5.00pm bus back. The Bowland Brewery is well worth a visit if you have not been and one of the rooms has still got the old engines in from the old mill it once was. Some visited the famous sausage shop to get provisions for the evening and others mooched about. The weather was kind to us thank god but we knew the evening was not forecast well and if we were not careful we would be barbecuing in the rain. We all decided to go early for the bus as we had a fear of not getting on it and what a good choice, it was packed again. We had a good laugh with the locals again and then the bus made an awful noise and we all thought great we are going to break down. The bus Driver got off and Dave shouted have we got a bus mechanic on board, knowing Steve was, this created a bit of a laugh on the bus and Steve went through the fire escape to see if he could assist. On climbing back on board everyone cheered but he noise was still there but we knew it was the turbo so hopefully it would get us back if not slowly. On arrival back into Ribchester I asked the driver if he would throw us out at the top of the brew, Music to Sarah s ears that was, and he did, what a great bloke. We said our goodbyes to the locals and waved at them as we trotted off to the site to to set the barbecues up before the rain. Rain was due at 7.00pm. Thankfully I had asked if we could use the barn that night and Catherine the owner was smashing and

7 for the small price of we had shelter, tables and chairs, not forgetting table football and snooker although both tables were a bit dodgy it caused some competitive streaks to appear! We managed to set the barbecues up just outside the entrance to the barn and we had just finished when the rain came. Thanks to Brian and Liz for bringing along another barbecue to help us cook everything. Liz and Bob make great Chefs! Barbecue over and the snacks came out, no matter what happens Dave and I have to have doritos, not forgetting the big tray of pastries courtesy of Steve Ryder, he didn t have any honest!!! The rain kept coming but we were nice and dry and having a good laugh with a few beers of course and it was an enjoyable night. We had a line up to prove who the t shortest person was, think Sarah won that one? Before we knew it, it was 11pm and we felt obliged to keep to the site rules as always and off we all went to bed. The rain poured all night and at about 7.00am it stopped so when I crept out of the tent at 7.15pm to the toilet I was surprised to see a good few already packing up whilst they had a break in the rain. Joy needn t have bothered creeping about to the shower as she had to go to work, she came back to everyone chatting and local caravanners slamming doors so if you can t beat them join them and it did make sense to try and get packed dry so before long we were all up and packed away early and off home so we all had the rest of the day to enjoy. A great weekend, hope you all enjoyed it, the feedback was good so thanks for coming and joining us.
