Gurmeet handed over to Michael Bruce, Vice Chair to chair the meeting as Gurmeet is standing for re-election. There were no introductions as this was agreed to be done at the Board Meeting which was following on from the Annual Meeting. Minutes of the previous Annual Meeting The minutes of the 2012 Annual Meeting held on 13 March were agreed as a true and complete record. This was proposed by David Greatorex and seconded by Jo Richardson. Matters arising There were no matters arising. Chairs address Gurmeet referred everybody to the Chairs report which was circulated before the meeting. As of January 2013 we are a Regional Board. Gurmeet thanked Paul for attending the meeting and commented on the good attendance. Over the last year the Board has carried out a range of free activities and would like to continue to deliver the same service for the year ahead. The Board are currently arranging their joint 10 th Annual Midlands Conference which will have a new look and feel to it. The

3 Board wants to ensure they keep members up to date on the work they do by encouraging them to look on the website and read the s. Review of Board Reports and Questions The reports were circulated before the meeting and Jo Prior brought her membership report on the day and circulated. Jo Prior reported that the Board are in the same position as last year with East Midlands making up 5% of the overall membership total. At the end of February the region had 50 fewer members than in February The greatest number of lapsed members are students that have not continued with their membership after completing their course. The region has passed their BME target. Membership has increased by 3% but with fewer Chartered members, the Board need to look into this. The Member get Member Campaign met the overall target, East Midlands numbers were very low. The campaign has been extended into Michael asked if there were any questions on the reports, there were none. Election of New Regional Board Members Michael asked the Board members who are standing down to make themselves known. The members standing down are: Christine Ashton Tim Brown Caris Henry Sue Taylor Jo Prior Martin Field The applications received for Board places are listed below. As there were no contested places, the applicants were duly elected for a three year term. Sue Taylor Caris Henry Inti Popat AoB David Greatorex and Julian Beaney thanked Jo Prior, Tim Brown and Chris Ashton for all being long standing members as they are standing down. 4 Enclosure 2 REPORT OF EAST MIDLANDS REGIONAL BOARD In 2013, the CIH East and West Midlands Boards arranged a joint conference which focussed on success and business transformation. There were lively debates throughout the event, with master class sessions providing practical tips, case studies and keynote sessions from high profile speakers. We were delighted to have Mark Easton, Home Editor of the BBC to chair the day and the keynote session how we do business with our customers in the new world. He was extremely good at pulling the different speakers and sessions together. If you had the energy and were one of the lucky ones to get tickets to the sold out (twice over) Awards Dinner, then you were in for a surprise (you had to be there) from comedian? Lester Crabtree and the brilliant (they stole the show) Vocalized Beatbox Group. The Vocalized Beatbox Group has gone on to entertain at nearly all the CIH regional conferences, so it s a pity Michael Bruce (Board member who found them) did not tie them into an on commission basis. We continued with our seminars throughout the year, one of which included John Bird of the Big Issue holding a free (yes free, he normally charges in the 1000s) breakfast briefing for those that appreciate the work done by a well know anti poverty campaigner. Another seminar of note was a discussion panel for housing leaders, the feedback from the most senior people in organisations that attended said it was excellent, thought provoking and very informative. Indeed an annual event is now planned. I am very pleased to note that our seminars provide excellent value for money (we have started charging non-members a nominal 15) and contribute to continuous professional development. Other successful seminars we arranged included a legal update and customer insight seminar. The seminars are always topical, lively, well attended and most importantly remain free for members. The Board is keen to reach out to all and we arranged some informal lets get together in pubs in Leicester and Nottingham. We work hard, and like to have some fun and are always open to suggestions where the Board can meet CIH members to have a chat about the world as only those in housing know it. Finally I would like to say a big thank you to the Regional Board Members who have worked together to ensure you were enthused, challenged and went away having learnt something new, meeting old friends, making new ones (also known as networking) and having an enjoyable time at our seminars. We are always keen to hear and read your comments about your experience of what the Board delivers and ideas of what to do next. It only leaves me then to say, thank you for coming and supporting CIH in the East Midlands region. Please encourage colleagues to join the CIH and attend our seminars.
