This year is my first year as Chairman of The North Lancashire Centre and I am very much looking forward to seeing you on a rally field. We have an exciting rally programme for 2018 with some new venues for you all. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our retiring committee members who have put a lot of time and hard work into the running of the Centre. I would firstly like to thank our retiring Chairman Mr Roy McFarlane who has served four years on committee, three of those as Chairman. Secondly, I wish to thank Len Wiseman who has served an amazing seventeen years on committee in various roles, his final role being that of Secretary. Thanks also to Barbara Beardsworth who retired last year but then kindly came out of retirement to help the centre for one final year as Treasurer, thanks also go to Sue McFarlane who was a committee member for four years and who gave support to her husband Roy during his time as Chairman. This year it gives me great pleasure to welcome back to committee Tony McAteer as Treasurer and Julie McAteer as Secretary. I look forward to working with this year s committee on behalf of you all. Our Centre Charity for the next three years will be High Five Lancashire This is a small local charity whose work isn t always recognised and who don t have the funds to market their charity on a larger scale as all the monies they receive are used for the charity. This charity does a lot of work to help those with disabilities and also their families. My thanks go to all the Centre s sponsors for their continued support, without which our Rally Brochure would not be possible. My final thanks go to you the ralliers for your continued support of The North Lancashire Centre as without you there would not be a Centre. Michael Williams Chairman

5 WHAT IS A RALLY? GUIDE FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NEVER RALLIED BEFORE A rally is a gathering of Caravan and Motorhome Club Members who enjoy weekends away with fun and fellowship thrown in for good measure. THE RALLY OFFICER Your Rally Officer isn't an official like a traffic warden, but a friendly face to meet you when you arrive and who has arranged the weekend for you. HOW TO BOOK ON TO A RALLY Details of events including booking forms are available from our website Please download a booking form and return with your cheque to the rally officer. Forms for future rallies are available in the field book on every rally. Except for events lasting more than 3 days, the details for weekend rallies will be available no more than 16 weeks prior to the event. The booking form should then be completed and returned to the rally officer together with the relevant remittance. Forms for holiday rallies should be available any time after the AGM. WHAT TO DO After you have booked your rally, and the weekend arrives, just follow the instructions on the booking form. As you approach the rally field you will see direction signs with NLCC on them to help you find the entrance. On arrival, you will find the rally officer waiting for you at the rally office, which is usually the first van you see and has another sign outside, so you can see him. Once you have booked in you will be handed an envelope containing the programme for the weekend and shown to your pitch. The field is marked out with ample space between caravans, and it is intended that the front offside corner of your caravan is on the marker (peg) and your car is parked on the nearside. You will also be shown where the fresh water tap is and the elsan disposal. SOCIAL ACTIVITIES NORTH LANCASHIRE CENTRE HONORARY MEMBER Ms B Beardsworth PAST CHAIRMEN J. Davies F. Carroll I.C. Campsie L.B. Jakens J. Bolton B. Moxham E Scowcroft J. G.Atkinson D Peers (Mrs) A Toal K Toal R Sherwood A Dunbar (Mrs) A McAteer G Dunbar K Ryles R McFarlane The rally may include a social on the Saturday night which is a family event, sometimes a dance or a fancy dress and in the summer a barbecue. Your weekend often includes a competition or games for children and adults alike. All these are entirely optional but are always good fun and you can watch the games even if you don't want to participate. ROUND THE FLAG You may have heard of strange things going on around the flag, but don't be alarmed because this is also a fun event. This is where you and your fellow ralliers gather to hear results of competitions, welcome visitors and new ralliers, announce forthcoming events and, most important, thank the rally officers. WHAT DO YOU NEED To be a rallier you need all the usual equipment plus a few extras. Your own toilet facilities (which must never be taken near the fresh water tap) and a few blocks of wood for levelling your van on any sloping field. You will also be requested to take your dry waste home with you. Enjoy your caravanning and come and join in the fun with North Lancashire. Please note that in order to meet the requirements of the Data Protection Act and to safeguard our members, we will no longer be publishing the addresses of Committee Members or in this Rally Brochure. Please contact the people concerned by the address provided. If you wish to book a rally, you may use the booking forms contained in the Rally Field Book, which will include postal details of rally officers or if using internet forms off the website, you can contact the rally officer by phone or in order to register your interest in the rally and to obtain a postal address.

6 NORTH LANCASHIRE CENTRE The North Lancashire Centre was formed in 1966 following the division of The Lancashire Centre of The Caravan Club. The inaugural rally of the new centre was held appropriately in Lancaster in We are now one of 69 local units known as Divisions or Centres of the Caravan and Motorhome Club. The Caravan and Motorhome Club is the largest caravanning or camping club in the world. Its membership now stands at more than 376,800 in Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Members should correspond direct with the Club Offices concerning Caravan, Motorhome, Car and Home Insurances, Club Sites, the Red Pennant Foreign Touring Service, Recovery Service and Membership (except Centre Membership) The Caravan and Motorhome Club East Grinstead House, East Grinstead, West Sussex, RH19 1UA Tel. No The address for contacts concerning Centre matters are listed on the Officers and Committee pages. For Centre Membership matters contact the Hon. Secretary. ATTENTION Have you renewed your centre membership with East Grinstead? Centre Membership is renewable annually when you renew your Caravan and Motorhome Club Membership. We strongly advise that you complete your centre renewal on the internet, as this avoids any mistakes. GENERAL NOTES 1 The spirit of good caravanning is based upon consideration for other people. Therefore, conduct by members, their families (especially children) and visitors at the Centre events must not be prejudicial to the good repute of the Centre or the comfort and convenience of others. In case of abuse, the Caravan and Motorhome Club rules permit Centre Committee to take disciplinary action. 2 Please remember that event organisers,, Centre Officers and Committee Members, indeed everyone working for the Club at Centre level are unpaid volunteers who devote a great deal of their own time and effort to ensure that you enjoy the Centre activities. Please in return give them your full co-operation. 3 EVIDENCE OF MEMBERSHIP. Membership cards should be available for inspection. 4 CENTRE REGISTRATIONS AND RALLY PROGRAMME. Members and Centres benefit from Centre Registration. Rally Programmes are only issued free to those who annually send their Full Members Registrations Form to East Grinstead. Centre membership records consist of the current registration cards of both Full Members and Family Members. You may register with the Centre of your choice, which does not need to be the Centre in whose area you live. 5 If you know of a Centre Member who is in hospital or is seriously ill, please inform the Centre Chairman. 6 Members are reminded of the obligations which they made when joining the Club i.e. to observe the Caravan Code and the Country Code. 7 DETAILS OF EVENTS including the booking form are obtained by sending a stamped addressed envelope at any time to the event s organiser as listed in the programme. Except for events marked with an *, i.e., social events or rallies lasting more than 3 days, the details will be available NO EARLIER THAN 16 WEEKS prior to the event. 8 BOOKINGS must be made on the official form and be accompanied by the relevant remittance. The organiser cannot guarantee a plaque for bookings received less than SIXTEEN DAYS prior to the event. It is not policy to acknowledge a booking except on a specific request and when a stamped address envelope is provided. 9 CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS. The remittance less 3.00 administration charge will be refunded on cancellations more than 10 days prior to the event. Should cancellations be received less than 10 days prior to the event the remittance will be refunded less 3.00 administration charge and any expenses incurred. Should no cancellation be received there will not normally be a refund. Should different conditions apply to special events the relevant booking form will state details. 10 SIGN POSTING. Events are signposted using only official signs displaying the letters NLCC. 11 DURATION OF RALLIES. With the exception of rallies on licensed sites, do not approach the landowner to extend your stay. Unless otherwise stated rallies commence on Friday at 4.00pm.DO NOT ARIVE EARLY ON ANY RALLY AS THE CENTRE IS NOT INSURED UNTIL THE RALLY OFFICIALLY OPENS (i.e. The time on the booking form). 12 DRIVERS AND SAFETY. A maximum speed of 5 mph (walking pace) is imposed at all times within the precinct of the rally. Only fully licensed and insured drivers are permitted to drive, excepting that an insured learner motorcyclist may drive directly from the entrance to the caravan they are visiting and later drive out. Ralliers visitors should report to the Rally Office before venturing onto the site. 13 VEHICLE MOVEMENTS PUSHING AND TOWING. In inclement weather to avoid damage to the field the unnecessary use of vehicles must be avoided. When vehicles become stuck, ralliers are asked to come out of their vans and help with the pushing of vans etc. If it is deemed desirable for caravaners to be towed on and off by other towing vehicle, members must co-operate with the Rally Officer. Towing is undertaken at the caravan owners risk and he or she must hitch and unhitch their own outfit to and from the towing vehicle because of insurance problems. Landrovers etc when towing in four-wheel drive have incredibly poor fuel consumption and consequently their owners will be substantially out of pocket unless they personally receive (from those being towed) reasonable donations towards fuel costs for each tow. (As a guide line, the Committee consider that a donation of 1.00 is reasonable).

7 Motorhomes Please note it is not the responsibility of the to tow your vehicle due to the weight involved. 14 YELLOWFLAG. When the yellow flag is flown ALL vehicle movement on the rally is curtailed. 15 SITING OF CARAVAN AND TOWING VEHICE. Caravans must be sited as directed by the Rally Officers with the front offside (right) corner of the van positioned over the allocated peg. The Caravan and Motorhome Club insists on a minimum of 6 metres (approx. 20 feet) between facing walls of caravans, i.e. 27 feet between pegs. The towing vehicle should be parked on the nearside unless otherwise directed by the Rally Officer. Drivers of additional vehicles should consult the Rally Officer regarding arrangements. 16 TENTS. Pup tents are permissible on rally fields as sleeping accommodation. Each pup tent must be pitched within the pitched area of the outfit to which it belongs. 17 PLAQUES are earned by sleeping in your caravan at the rally. DO NOT ask for plaques if you have not complied. 18 NOISE from ralliers, parties, radios, televisions etc, must be kept to a minimum after 11p.m. 19 SMOKING by law is not allowed at social events. 20 WATER TAPS. Toilets and waste water containers must not be washed at taps used for drinking water. 21 SANITATION, RUBBISH AND LITTER. Members must provide their own sanitation at all rallies. Chemical toilet contents must only be emptied in the facilities specified by the Rally Officer. Dry or wet rubbish must be stored and then later taken home unless advised of other arrangements by the Rally Officer. At all times please keep your rally field clear of litter. 22 GAMES, TRESPASS, PARENTAL CONTROL. Games must not be played, or bicycles ridden to the annoyance of other caravaners and where possible they should be kept well away from the caravans. The use of guns, air pistols, catapults etc, are strictly prohibited. Kites must not be flown in the vicinity of caravans and overhead cables. Ralliers must not trespass on or damage the site owners or other people s property and PARENTAL CONTROL MUST BE EXERCISED OVER CHILDREN AT ALL TIMES. 23 DOGS AND CATS must be kept under proper control and on a lead not exceeding 3 metres in length (10 feet). They should not be allowed to foul in the vicinity of the caravans and whenever possible should be exercised off the rally field. are authorised to ask the owner of an animal which is a persistent nuisance or which has worried lambs or other animals to leave the rally. 24 SALEABLE EQUIPMENT. Pennants, badges and other items of equipment are available from the Saleable Equipment Officer. 25 MOTOR CARAVANS. When the towing vehicle is a motorised caravan it must be booked in as a separate outfit if it is to be used for living or sleeping purposes on the rally. 26 FIRE RISKS. Members are advised to always carry a fire extinguisher and/or fire blanket in their caravan. These should be regularly inspected. 27 GENERATORS. Between the hours of 10am and 5pm, generators can only be used for a maximum period of two hours and it is expected that the same time span will be used to minimise inconvenience to other ralliers. The exception to this would be for a specific medical need or safety/emergency issues approved by Committee or the Chairman s Representative on the rally. Generators should always be located adjacent to your own unit. Industrial generators are not permitted, and the noise level measured at 7m should not exceed 60db. Running generators should not be left unattended at any time. 28 RALLIES IN OTHER AREAS. Rallies which are to be held outside the North Lancashire Rally Area have to be cleared with the Centre concerned and sometimes with planning authorities or National Parks Boards. These negotiations may not be complete when this programme goes to print, and it should be understood that venues may have to be changed or rallies cancelled. ALL RALLY OFFICERS PLEASE NOTE SITING OF OUTFITS ON RALLIES AS DEFINED BY NATURAL ENGLAND ARE AS FOLLOWS FOR CAR AND CARAVAN MEASUREMENT PEG TO PEG 8.3 METRES FOR CAR, CARAVAN AND AWNING MEASUREMENT PEG TO PEG 10.8 METRES THERE MUST BE A MINIMUM OF 3 METRES BETWEEN CAR AND NEIGHBOURING CARAVAN KEEP THAT CHILD ALIVE DRIVE AT FIVE Remember the speed on the rally field is walking pace 5MPH PLEASE DO NOT ARRIVE ON A RALLY BEFORE THE TIME STATED ON THE BOOKING FORM.
