6 LABEL YOUR BAGS! Label your bags so you know they are yours. At the Opening Ceremonies your bags need to be labelled: Your Name UK Contingent Patrol Name and ID Road Name and ID The UKC are producing a glamourous contingent branded ID badge for you to print and complete (TOP TIP Use cable ties to secure your label to your bag it will stay attached to your bag for longer!)

7 PACKING Make a list...check it twice Lay out all your kit before packing Put heavier items at the bottom of your bag. Use dry sacks or bags to keep your kit organised and dry Put in a few extra bags for laundry Rucksacks are preferred

8 TRAVELLING WITH YOUR KIT If flying make sure that all straps are tucked in! You can get bags to put rucksacks in but these aren't recommended by baggage handlers. Check the baggage allowances (WEIGH YOUR KIT!) Check what you can and cannot carry in your hand luggage AND in your hold luggage. Keep your kit with you at all times.

10 PATROL KIT Tents share out so the weight is even Tarpaulin (to be used as a dining shelter) First Aid Kit Travel Wash (Lush Shampoo bars work as shampoo AND travel wash and last for 2 months!) Sewing kit String, cable ties UK Accessories for the Festival of Culture Travel Adaptors (phone charger pack?)

11 HANNAH S TOP KIT TIPS! I am the worlds worst packer!! I am what you call an over packer and often find myself with lots of things that I don't need and none of the stuff that I do need! Over years of international travel I have learnt some tips and you will be pleased to know my packing is improving. Use a list. Lay everything out before you start packing so you can check you have everything Think about your own personal comfort kit (for me it s a nail care kit, hair towel, eye mask and ear plugs!) Memory foam travel pillows are your friend, they're small, compact and dead comfy! Treat your neck to some comfort whilst you are away! They may be more expensive than a blow up pillow but they are OH SO worth it especially when sleeping in a tent! Foldable hangers for your uniform- unless you want to look slightly creased in your uniform!

12 HANNAH S TOP KIT TIPS! Take a little bit of home with you (I travel with a picture of my family and a good luck charm) If there is something that you always forget then pack it twice sounds mad but it works! I always used to forget toothbrush and toothpaste! I now pack it twice which means that I always have some and have a spare incase someone else forgets! Have a patrol kit chat can you share stuff?

14 2 ND AUGUST ACCOMMODATION If you requested accommodation for the 2nd August you are guaranteed a place to stay. The Organisers are confirming the campsites/ halls that you will be staying and will have this information by the end of June/ early July. As soon as we have the venue names we will pass them on to you. If you are staying elsewhere on the 2nd please let us know the address in case we need to support you.

15 TRAVELLING TO OPENING CEREMONIES Before you go research the routes suggested Give yourselves a bit of extra time! Carry some Euro change to pay to get on buses/ trams Look online to see if you can pre-book bus, tram or) train tickets. Print out maps (even if it s a screen shot of Google) - don't rely on having Wi-Fi

16 TRAVEL BEFORE SETTING OFF Make sure you label your bag, using the UK Contingent label Kit List Check you have everything If flying consider hand luggage and weight allowances Communications back home planned Emergency Contact Sort out Uniform Money Be Prepared!

18 IT S TIME FOR ROVERWAY! On the day.. 1. Wear your uniform and Contingent necker 2. Please leave enough time for check-in/ getting to departure location 3. Have all valuables on you at all times 4. Once in France, remember the time difference 5. Lookout for CMT member in your opening ceremony city. We are hoping to send a member to each one, so we can welcome and help you 6. Need to arrive together to opening ceremony together to register 7. First meal is on 3 rd August dinner don t go hungry If anything goes wrong on the way, please let us know ASAP (via wristband numbers)

20 EAST: STRASBOURG 10:00 REGISTRATION OPENS Patrols: 5, 17 and 21 There have been delays with the confirmation of the venue for this crossroad. The Organisers will not be able to let us know until July 5th. We will let you know as soon as we know!

21 SOUTH WEST: BORDEAUX 13:00 REGISTRATION OPENS Welcome Teams will be at the airport and railway station from 10:00 14:00 Patrols : 1,3,7,15,19,20 GETTING TO THE OPENING CEREMONY: From the Airport: Take Bus Line 1 to Les Quiconces THEN take Tramway Line B to Montaigne Montesquieu From the Train station: Take Tramway line C to Les Quinconces THEN take Tramway line B to Montaigne Montesquieu

22 NORTH: AMIENS 13:00 REGISTRATION OPENS Patrols: 9 and 11 GETTING TO THE OPENING CEREMONY: From the Train station: 10 minute walk to opening ceremony. Please speak to the CMT if you want help planning a route.

23 MEDITERRANEAN: MONTPELLIER 13:00 REGISTRATION OPENS Patrols: 6 and 22 GETTING TO THE OPENING CEREMONY: From the Airport: Take Shuttle bus to Place de l'europe THEN take the Tramway line 1 to Place de la Comedie From Train Station: 10 Minute Walk please speak to the CMT if you would like help planning a route.

24 WEST: RENNES 10:00 REGISTRATION OPENS Welcome Teams will be present at the south exit of the station from 09:20 until 14:00 Patrols:8,12,16 GETTING TO THE OPENING CEREMONY: From the Airport: Take the Line 33 Bus from Pommerais to Le Triangle From the Train station: Take Metro Line A from Gare Poterie to Triangle

25 MASSIFS: LYON 12:00 REGISTRATION OPENS Patrols: 2,4,10,13,14,18 GETTING TO THE OPENING CEREMONY: From the Airport: Take Tramway line Rx to Gare Part-Dieu Vilette THEN take Metro line B to Stade de Gerland (53mins) From Perrache Train station: Take Tramway line 2 to Jean Mace THEN take Metro line B to Stade de Gerland. (25mins) From Part Dieu Train Station: Take Metro Line B to Stade de Gerland (18mins)

26 ILE DE FRANCE: PARIS 10:00 REGISTRATION OPENS All IST Roverband GETTING TO THE OPENING CEREMONY: From Charles de Gaulle Airport: Take RER line B to Saint-Michel Notre- Dame THEN walk to Cluny-La Sorbonne Metro Station THEN take Metro to Cardinal Lemoine. (1hr) From Gare du Nord: Take Metro line 5 to Gare d'austerlitz THEN take Metro line 10 to Cardinal Lemoine

28 CEREMONY TIMES The Opening Ceremonies begin at 16:00 on Wednesday 3 rd August. You should aim to be at your Opening Ceremony location at 15:00 Remember to leave enough time for travel from the airport/train station. Members of the Oragnisers will be at the main entry points on the 3 rd. UK CMT Members will be at each opening ceremony

29 OPENING CEREMINIES CHECK IN You must arrive as a full patrol Find the UK CMT say Hi! check in with them. Register at the sign in desk to be given your ID badges You will be asked to put your main kit into a storage it will be monitored by security guards during the ceremony Wave your UK flags and celebrate the party atmosphere

30 AFTER THE CEREMONY The ceremony will finish by 18:00 Each road will be taken to their road by coach. Maximum coach journey will be 3 hours. You will be given a picnic tea. We suggest taking snacks in case you get hungry during the afternoon. Remember any meals before the Opening Ceremony are your responsibility.

31 HELP! RUNNING LATE? PLAN ensure you have some extra time to spare in case of mishaps! If you hit travel difficulties or are going to be late to the ceremonies then you must let the CMT know as soon as possible. We will assist you with getting to the Opening Ceremonies, and ensure that you join the rest of your Road promptly. Keep in touch throughout the delays

32 CLOSING CEREMONY 14 th AUGUST ENDING AT 14:00 CENTRAL PARIS, UNDER THE EIFFEL TOWER You will be transported from Jambville into Paris by the Organisers. After the Ceremony it is your responsibility to organise transport to your port, airport or train station. Again manage your time to ensure you can get your flight or train on time.

34 SAFEGUARDING GIRLGUIDING All Girlguiding members over the age of 18 must complete the Safeguarding e-module (unless you have completed it in the last 12 months). This includes Participants and IST. This will remind you of your safeguarding responsibilities. It counts towards your Leadership qualification, and as part of your ongoing training and development within Girlguiding. Those who require this training will receive an with instructions on how to complete the module.
