3 President s Report Page 3 Hi Ulysseans, The year has kicked off with two rides with BBQs. The first was a new event Family Day Ride where we are encouraging members to bring a family member on the back of their bike or even family members to come along in a car & enjoy a BBQ lunch with us. And our first Family Day was well attended with great weather and a fantastic BBQ lunch at Parsley Bay, Brooklyn. Thanks to Brenda & Christine for towing the BBQ trailer, setting up & cooking lunch. Also thanks Steve Whitehead for leading the ride. Next was our annual Australia Day Ride lead by John Purcell for a short ride followed by a BBQ breakfast at a secret location on the water edge of our beautiful Brisbane Waters. A great way to start the day and celebrate AUSTRALIA DAY ON THE 26 th JANUARY! We have a large group of members going to the national AGM in South Australia in May but we will still be having local rides while we are away on 6 th & 20 th May. NOTE: Don t forget our branch AGM will be on 16 th March (the second half of our social meeting) Don t forget to bring your membership card! Nominations Close this Friday Night 16 th February. Lois is organizing a ride to Broken Hill in October, details will be announced soon & numbers are limited. We are planning to sell sausage sandwiches at Mitre 10 on the 31 st March (Easter Saturday) 8am to 2pm to raise money for charity. Please let me know if you are available to help out on the day even if it is only for an hour or two would be great. 4 Secretary s Report 2018 Page 4 Hi all Well we are at the end of another Ulysses year and another Woy Woy Peninsula AGM next month. Currently we have only three nominations for all positions and committee. I can only urge you to think about having a go and you will be rewarded with a wonderful experience. It will also give you the opportunity to influence the direction of the club, something I know many of you have expressed ideas about. Nomination forms will be available at the meeting on Friday. 5 Page 5 Family Ride Day January 21, 2018 This social ride was set up to keep the hardcore riders happy while encouraging family and friends to participate. That's exactly what happened, spot the new faces among the photos. Riders and numerous pillions set out from Woy Woy for a scenic cruise via Brisbane Water, Kangy Angy, Yarramalong Valley and Bumble Hill to our morning tea stop at Corrugated Cafe. Sunshine and glorious curves put a smile on every face. New member Mike met us at the Cafe and began the process of memorising members' names. A smooth run down Peats Ridge and the Old Road brought us to Parsley Bay at Brooklyn for lunch. The unsung heroes had the BBQ in full swing with a new menu, drinks on ice and comfy chairs under shady trees. What more could you ask for? Steve Whitehead #44360

6 Australia Day BBQ Breakfast January 26, 2018 Page 6 The short run up to Somersby Falls again provided the perfect backdrop for a group photo and rendition of the national anthem, much to the amusement of other visitors to the Falls. We even managed to hit a note or two. The ride is, of course, strategically designed to give our master chefs one hour of breathing space to work their magic. Riders arrived at Couche Park to find a mouth-watering bacon and egg breakfast which promptly disappeared. More singing followed to celebrate birthdays for Monica and Mark. Great to see new and returning faces joining in the fun. Thanks again to our ride leader John Purcell and master chefs.

They will be crossing the Nullarbor to Perth, then up to Broom, across to Darwin then down the center to Port Augusta then home.
