2 Dusseldorf, Germany (direct, non-stop destination from RSW) Dusseldorf is a regional economic powerhouse straddling the banks of the Rhine River. It is the capital city of the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia and the seventh most populous city in Germany. Düsseldorf is an international business and financial centre, renowned for its fashion and trade fairs. Altstadt is not just Dusseldorf's lovely old town, but also where the city's nightlife is based and where Altbier, its native dark beer, is plentiful. Königsallee (Ko to the locals), Dusseldorf's famous shopping street, has many high-end stores. And the Museum Kunst Palast has one of the Rhineland's best art collections. The Old Town is definitely the heart and soul of Dusseldorf. With its historical flair, plenty of major museums and galleries, over 260 cafés, restaurants, breweries (along with one of the longest bars in the world), night clubs, and local boutiques, along with being located by the beautiful Rhine river and within proximity to other areas of interest; this vibrant Old Town is a great start to your visit. The Königsallee Boulevard, affectionately called KÖ for short, is a stimulating shopping paradise and at the same time an exciting mecca for going out both a catwalk for the daring in fashion and a resting place for those who like to enjoy life. Though the gigantic Rheinturm telecommunications tower has overlooked Düsseldorf and its environs since 1981, the tower s observation platform saw the opening of M 168 in 2013, a club and lounge named after its height in meters, offering grand views of the twinkling skyline until 2 a.m. Over a final nightcap at 550 feet above the ground, you should have no trouble figuring out just exactly where your hotel is. Dusseldorf's Media Harbor is an example of urban planning at its best. You can devote an entire day to strolling and exploring the unique architecture, including three stunningly fluid buildings by Frank Gehry, as well as new hotels and recently converted industrial spaces. Watch the sun set behind the colorful constructions, then head for Gehry s, a restaurant named after the famous architect. Architecture fans will love the neighborhood and the unusual Haus Roggendorf, with its plastic people scaling the facade. You just don't see this every day. With its wealth of history, culture, and nature, harmoniously blended with a metropolis vibe, it seems like there's so much in Dusseldorf to discover and yet, so little time! This project will evaluate all pavement and recommend rehabilitation measures to correct existing pavement distresses and extend the useful life of airport infrastructure. Design services contract is scheduled to go to February Airports Special Management Committee (ASMC) and March Joint Board meetings.
