3 Love Field Aviation Camp Love Field was opened on October 19, 1917 as a military airfield It was named after First Lieutenant Moss Lee Love, who died in an airplane crash in San Diego, California Love Field was opened to civilian use in 1927

4 Love Field is located approximately 3.7 miles north northwest of downtown Dallas. Love Field is easily accessible by automobile, approximately a 15 minute drive from downtown Dallas. Love Field is conveniently located along DART rail and bus transit rides, approximately 30 minutes from downtown Dallas.
