This is related to the conference venue, travel from Delhi to Roorkee and some tourist information. (a) By Road: Roorkee is connected with Delhi by National Highway No. 58 and is about 200 km. Road at some places is very good but also some places are very bad. It may take about 4 to 5 hrs travel from Delhi to Roorkee depending on the time of travel. S. No. Particulars Cost (in INR) 1. At present 1US$ is about 44 Indian Rupees (b) By Rail: There are two good trains from New Delhi Rly station to Roorkee Rly station 1. Train Jan Shatabdi Express (Tain No. 2055): Depart Delhi 1525 hrs Arrival Roorkee 1855 hrs having class Chair Car and ordinary seat Following trains are also available for travel from Roorkee to New Delhi Railway station 1. Train Jan Shatabdi Express (Tain No. 2056): Depart Roorkee 0715 hrs Arrival Delhi 1115 hrs having class Chair Car and ordinary seat 2. Train Shatabdi Express (Train no. 2018): Depart Roorkee 1853 hrs Arrival Delhi 2240 hrs having class Chair Car and Executive The travel by train requires advance reservation as these are in heavy demand. For train reservation the age and gender of the passenger is also required. The cost of the travel by Executive Class is about 850 INR and by Chair Car is about 450 INR. In such case the cost of receiving of the participants at New Delhi Airport and dropping at New Delhi Rly station is 1200 INR. 3 Transport to and from the institute/hotels Institute Guest House (NC Nigam Guest House and Khosla International House) and Motel Polaris are within walking distance from Alternate Hydro Energy Centre building. If you are staying at the Hotel Centrum, Cars (Air Conditioned) and an institute bus (non Air Conditioned) shall be available to pickup and drop. Money All Credit cards are also accepted at many places (including Hotels of your stay) in Roorkee. However Institute Guest House accepts only cash or cheque (not any type of card). Bank Inside the IIT Roorkee campus, there is a branch of State Bank of India (SBI) having the facilities of ATM & Foreign Currency Exchange.
