5 3rd Bone Final Pr En pr :09 ÂÏ 5 INVITATION LETTER Dear colleagues, We would like to invite you to the 3 d International Bone Strength and Quality Meeting, which will take place in September 29 and 30, 2007, on Samos Island, Greece. Bone Strength has always been the main investigational and therapeutical target for scientists and therapists in Bone field. Bone Quality has lately emerged as an umbrella term to shelter new information, beyond bone surface density and surface mass, leading to a better understanding of bone strength. The Quality concept is rapidly evolving flooding with information that certainly need evaluation and explanation. This is the reason we continue and organize this meeting for a third time, bearing in mind the elegant presentations, the vigorous discussions inside and outside the auditorium and last but not least the enthousiastic social atmosphere. Those of you who participated in the 1 st and 2 nd meeting in Rhodes and Corfu island will notice that the 3 d meeting is more clinical oriented. This is meant so that research knowledge is made available and thus tested in practice by clinitians and on the other hand feedback clinical information can be transferred back to the laboratory. As on the past, plenty of time for discussion will be available in both days. We are certain that the Meeting will be of great value both for clinicians and basic scientists providing the chance to exchange ideas and information on the most recent advances in Bone Science and at the same time to contribute to the better understanding of Bone Biology and the impact it bares for clinical practice. The mixture of the highly scientific and comprehensive program with a varied and exciting social program is the recipe for success and we have therefore adhered to these vital ingredients. The Combination of the excellent accommodations, conference facilities and the wonderful climate guarantee the success of the meeting. 16 3rd Bone Final Pr En pr :09 ÂÏ 16 Final Program The Secretariat will provide the final program of the Seminar for the participants, upon presentation of confirmation of pre-registration. The schedule will also appear in the electronic address: Slide Reception Speeches can be projected during the course of the Seminar, either using slides, or through a computer data projector and overhead projector. Speakers are requested to deliver their work in electronic form to the Slide Reception, at least 1 hour before each event. Badges For safety reasons, entrance to the area of the scientific meeting will be permitted only to guests wearing the badges issued specifically for the occasion. Participants are kindly requested to wear their badges throughout the meeting. Badges Red - Participants Blue - Speakers Green - Exhibitors Yellow - Accompanying persons Certificates of Attendance Certificates of attendance will be handed to the participants on Sunday, the 30 th of September, upon receipt of a completed request for appraisal. (Appraisals are anonymous). For the participation to the scientific meeting, 8 points for continuing medical education mutually acknowledged by P.M.S. and U.E.M.S, will be granted to the participants Excursions Guided Tours During the Scientific Meeting optional excursions and guided tours will be available to the accompanying persons. Special invitations, (delivered by the Scientific Meeting Secretariat, upon confirmation of participation), will be required for the entrance of the participants and accompanying persons in the areas where social events are being held. Transportation by bus Private busses have been hired for the transportation of the participants and accompanying persons from the area of the Scientific Meeting, to the place where the Opening Ceremony and Welcoming Reception will be held.
