5 GENERAL INFORMATION 1. MAIN BENEFITS We seek to design the est-possile solutions for mountin enthusists sed on our philosophy of creting strong & light products. We understnd our users needs nd provides the right fetures nd enefits for them to enjoy their dventures: Strength & durility Our design tem crefully nlyses the exct functions of ech prt of ckpck to define performnce requirements, select n optimum comintion of mterils nd engineer the strongest ger for the longest use. 2. CARRYING SYSTEMS SALEWA hs two different crrying systems. Depending on size nd re of use, its ckpcks re equipped with n AIR FIT or CONTACT FIT system. Our AIR FIT system mximizes ventiltion nd minimizes the ckpck surfce in contct with the ody; the CONTACT FIT system keeps the lod rycentre of the ckpck close to the ody for mximum control on scents nd provides good ventiltion through its ir chnnels. Lightweight design Our sophisticted design solutions use the est mterils to minimize weight. Lightweight frics, uckles, strps nd ccessories lso help keep weight down. Optiml lod distriution SALEWA trekking ckpcks re fitted with Custom FIT nd Custom FIT PRO crrying systems. Their esy-djust torso lengths, men tht even hevy lods cn e crried comfortly for long periods. For optiml lod distriution, ensure tht the crrying system is properly djusted, including the lod control strps. In ddition, mke sure your pck is set up correctly, oth horizontlly nd verticlly. Ventiltion Sweting cools down the ody vi evportion. Conventionl ckpcks stop this hppening s their ck pnels prevent the ventiltion swet requires to evporte. The wet ck pnels men you get chilled. All SALEWA ckpck ck pnels re designed to ensure good ventiltion.
6 GENERAL INFORMATION 3. ADJUSTING YOUR BACKPACK How to get the est fit: 1. Loosen ll strps (shoulder strps, lod control strps, wist elt, compression strps) efore you lod the pck. 2. If your ckpck hs ck regultion system, follow the instructions in the tle to identify your torso length nd set the correct ck length. torso mesurement fixed ck length size CUSTOM FIT PRO ck length mle CUSTOM FIT PRO ck length femle 38/40cm SHORT SHORT 40/45cm SHORT MEDIUM 45/50cm MEDIUM LARGE REGULAR 50/53cm LARGE 3. Pull in the wist elt so tht it sits just ove the pelvis. Mke sure tht your ilic crest is centred etween the wist elt pdding. Close the uckles. Secure the loose ends of the strps. 4. Tighten (ut don t overtighten) the shoulder strps until the crrying system meets the ck. The ttchment point of the shoulder strps should e out one inch elow the seventh verter (C7). If necessry, redjust the ck length. 5. If your pck hs them, tighten the lod control strps t the top of the shoulder strps. 6. Close nd djust the length of the chest (sternum) strp, nd mke sure it sits t the right height (t your sternum). A snug fit will help stilise the pck. Tke cre not to crete pressure points. 7. Check the lod control strps gin nd ensure tht your shoulder strps fit snugly round your shoulders. 4. PACKING YOUR BACKPACK We recommend tht you never pck more thn 70% of your pck s volume. The extr room will come in useful if you hve to unpck the contents nd quickly pck them gin. Spce is limited, so it mkes sense to pck systemticlly. This lso mkes your pck esier to crry. We recommend pcking s follows: store lighter items, such s your sleeping g nd reserve clothes t the ottom; keep hevy items such s your cooking equipment or tent in the re of your upper ck. Store vlule item such s documents, money, keys etc. in the dedicted pocket. Pck items you wnt close to hnd t the top or in outside pockets: extr clothing, wter ottle, mps, compss, sncks, etc. Fsten longer items, such s tent poles or trekking poles, to the side of the pck using the compression strps nd store the loose ends wy in the side pockets. If required, lrge nd ulky items (sleeping mt, tent, etc.) cn e ttched on the outside using compression strps. Store your cooking equipment, food, spre clothing nd other items in the min comprtment. Keep your most frequently used ger close to the top. Less frequently used kit (e.g. ivouc sck) cn sty t the ottom. The seprte ottom comprtment is ment for your lighter items, such s your sleeping g or spre se lyers. 5. CARE AND MAINTENANCE Bckpcks do not need much cre nd mintennce. Stins cn e clened off with wter. Luricte the zippers occsionlly with silicone or oil. Although, if you use your pck in dusty res, don t use silicone or oil s they ttrct dust. 8 SAFETY INFORMATION Plese rememer: This child crrier is designed solely for the trnsport of children y dults. Do not leve your child unttended in this crrier. Do not use until the child is old enough to sit up unided. The child s hed cn e higher thn the dult s when sitting in the crrier. Py ttention to hzrds such s door frmes, low tree rnches, etc. Adults should e wre of the following when using the crrier: A ody movement y the child or the dult cn cuse the dult crrying the child to lose lnce. The dult crrying the child must move prticulrly cutiously when ending over. This crrier is designed for leisure ctivities, not for sports ctivities. Be extr creful when when putting on the crrier or removing it. This crrier is only suitle for smll children who weigh up to 15 kg mx. nd re not tller thn 105 cm. Additionl lod of mx. 4 kg llowed. Ensure tht the child is properly strpped in s soon s he/she is sitting in the crrier, nd tht ll strps nd elts hve een djusted in ccordnce with the mnufcturer s instructions. Sitting for long time in the crrier is tiring for child nd cn impir lood circultion. It is recommended to tke frequent reks. Be wre tht child in the crrier cn suffer from the effects of the wether nd temperture efore you do. On very hot dys the exposed metl prts of the crrier cn ecome so hot tht the child in the crrier cn suffer urns, likewise on very cold dys the metl prts re hzrd. Do not plce the crrier on tle or ench. Ensure to void injuring the child s foot when the crrier is on or close to the ground. Only use ccessories nd replcement prts from the mnufcturer, nd purchse them through your specilist retiler. A Setting up the child s set: For the child s optiml sfety nd comfort, set up the child crrier s descried elow. Check the individul steps when plcing your child crefully in the crrier. Tke the child out of the crrier efore continuing. 1. Open out the metl stnd () nd set the crrier down on level ground. Mke sure it is sitting stle on the ground. 2. Loosen the elts (), (c), (d), (e), Adjust the set height with the centrl djustment t the sliding uckle. (f) The set height is optiml when the ck of the child s hed is on the level of the neck pdding. Plese rememer: Thred the elt ck through the sliding uckle (f) so tht the set position does not slip out of plce. 4. Now djust the height of the shoulder elt. To do this, loosen the shoulder elt s centrl Velcro fstener (g) nd pull the Velcro t out from the holding loop (h). Insert the Velcro t t the desired height, strting from elow nd pssing through 2 of the holding loops, nd then close the Velcro t gin. 5. The child s shoulder elt is t the correct height when the shoulder hrness fully hugs the child s shoulders nd the centre prt of the elt rests etween the shoulder ldes (i). B Correct djustment of the crrier s ck support system. 1. For est results, only lod the crrier with relistic weight. When you plce your child in the crrier, ensure the child is correctly strpped nd uckled in. 2. First loosen ll strps on the crrying system, then put it on your ck. 3. The hip elt should sit centred on the hip one (Fig. ) nd clsp it snugly. 4. Close the hip elt nd drw it snug tight (Fig. ). 5. Drw the shoulder elt only lightly tight, so tht the weight of the rucksck is still on your hips. 6. The shoulder pd yoke should lie etween the shoulder ldes nd the shoulder hrness should enclose the shoulders snugly. (Fig. c). If this is not the cse, you need to djust the ck length: 7. To do so, open the Velcro t nd pull it out from the multi-fit ldder. 8. Slide the lower Velcro t in t the desired height, nd tug the crrying system down s fr s it will go (Fig. d). 9. Then thred the upper Velcro t into the ldder gin two rungs further up. 10. The crrying system is fixed into position y closing the Velcro fstener. (Fig. e.) 11. The lod control strp (the strp on top of the shoulder hrness, see Fig. f) should run upwrds t n ngle of : Thred the lod control strp into the correct slide uckle. Use the lower slide uckles to djust the lower positions of the shoulder elt. If the shoulder elt is fixed in higher position, use the upper slide uckles.
9 SAFETY INFORMATION 12. Now tug on the lod control strp to get etter contct etween rucksck nd ck. 13. Close the chest strp when needed to get n optiml fit of the shoulder hrness. The height of the chest strp cn e djusted individully. 14. When needed you cn tug the lod control strp tut t the hip elt: This improves stility on difficult terrin, however reduces moility somewht. C How to secure the child correctly into the crrier: 1. When the crrier when hs een properly djusted, open the shoulder elts nd plce the child in it. 2. Plce the shoulder hrness round the child s shoulders. 3. Close the uckles (Fig. nd Fig. ) - the precise design of uckle will depend on the model nd might not look the sme s in the digrms. 4. Crefully tug the shoulder strps tut. There should e only the width of finger etween the shoulder strps nd the ody. 5. Slide the centre chest pdding (Fig. c) to the desired height. 6. Crefully tug the centre strp until (Fig. d) tut. There should e only the width of finger etween the centre strp nd the ody. 7. Lock the side compression strps nd crefully tug oth compression strps tut (Fig. e) Putting on nd removing the crrier: The child must e fully uckled in efore putting on the crrier. 1. Crefully put on the crrier. 2. Check the crrier djustments crried out in B: Most of the weight should e on the hips (2/3), with miniml weight on the shoulders. 3. Mke ny extr djustments to the crrying system. 4. The metl stnd is secured with locking support to prevent it folding together y ccident. To fold the metl stnd together first relese the locking supports y tugging on the loop, nd hold this position (Fig. ). Only then cn the metl stnd e folded together (Fig., c). Ensure to follow the steps in this order s otherwise the locking supports cn e dmged. When setting down the crrier fold the stnd out gin efore letting it sit on the ground. The locking supports lock into plce utomticlly when the stnd is folded out. Use of the sun roof nd rin cover Plese note! Use the sun roof nd rin cover to protect your child from dverse wether such s direct sun nd rin. 1. Pss the lck rod t the ck into the lck sleeve close to the neck support, nd the white rod into the mtching white sleeve. 2. Fix the roof in position with the Velcro fstener. 3. Clip the elstic strps into the loops eside the chin gurd. 4. When it is rining you cn use the sun roof nd rin cover comined: Follow points Pull the rin cover over the roof nd secure y clipping the side elstic strp into the loops. MAINTENANCE Before ech use, inspect the stte of the frme, the elts, nd the sewn sems on the crrying system. Py ttention to ny cuts or rsion, nd do not hesitte to set product side if it hs ny weknesses. Ensure to void injuring the child s foot when the crrier is on or close to the ground. Child crriers re generlly quite esy to cre for nd clen. If the child crrier is wet, let it dry out thoroughly. Wipe off dirt with wet cloth. Use mild detergent solution for more resistnt dirt. Spry the zips with silicone from time to time. Then they will work without no prolems for yers.
