1 Vporizers 97 CHAPTER 13 Vporizers By definition, vporizer is type of so clled oil burner whose primry duty is to cuse chnge of stte of liquid fuel to gs for combustion. There re two generl types clssed ccording s the het necessry to vporize the fuel is pplied: 1, below, or 2, bove, plte or continer holding smll quntity of liquid fuel. They my be further clssed s 1, non-mixing, nd 2, mixing; tht is, the vporized fuel or gs my be delivered s such, or mixed with ir in proper proportion for combustion. The bsic principle of the non-mixing type is shown in fig. 1 nd two forms of the mixing type in figs. 2 nd 3. Ques. How does vporizer work of the type in which the vporizing het is pplied underneth. Ans. The fuel psses from the source to the retort or vporizer which is closed vessel heted by the burner underneth, cusing the fuel to boil nd supply gs to the burner. In the mixing type, the gs from the vporizer psses into the mixer into which the gs is injected bringing with it the ir, the resulting mixture psses out through smll holes where ignition tkes plce.

In this type the vpor issuing from the nozzle drws in ir into mixing chmber where the vpor nd ir mix, the combustible mixture thus formed psses out through numerous smll openings nd ignites t the top. The bottom of the pot is slightly concve nd t the side is n inlet for dmission of oil. The pot is provided with top ring nd pilot ring. The oil supply line connects the control vlve with the oil inlet of the burner. Ques. How does the pot burner work?

When the rings re lighted, the oil in the troughs strts to vporize.
