2 From the Staff Knights of Summer: X-STREAM Adventures Knights of Summer is back for the fourth summer and this year we are offering a summer filled with X STREAM Adventures! The goal of X STREAM Adventures is to enhance and s mulate an interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) related concepts while also incorpora ng the Arts and Foreign Language. Campers will increase crea vity through building, learning, and having FUN! Knights of Summer is available for children age 3 rising 8th grade. Both half and full day op ons are available as is before and a er camp care. Register today! Weekly Half Day Camp Rate (9am 12pm): $130* Weekly Full Day Camp Rate (9am 3pm): $160* Weekly Before Camp Care Rate (8:00am 9am): $12.50 Weekly A er Camp Care Rate (3pm 4:30pm): $20 *Please note that several camps have a materials fee. 3 Policies & Information Important Registration Info Full refunds (less a $20 processing fee) will be available un l Friday, April 15 h. There will be 50% refund for cancella ons before May 6th. A er May 6th, there will be no refunds as teachers are contracted for the classes and supplies have been ordered. Knights of Summer at Blessed Sacrament School reserves the right to dismiss, without refund, any student for inappropriate behavior. Knights of Summer follows the same discipline code stated in the BSS handbook. Knights of Summer reserves the right to cancel any class that does not have sufficient enrollment. If a class is full or cancelled, you will be no fied immediately, and you can select another class for your child or receive a full refund. For families that claim Knights of Summer as child care on their taxes, please save your receipt. BSS s tax number is: Dress Code There is not a formal dress code during the summer camps. However, if a student wears a t shirt, please make sure that sugges ve or inappropriate language is not printed on the t shirt. Parents may wish to send aprons or smocks for messy classes. Frequently Asked Questions What time does camp start? Camp starts at 9:00 am each day and con nues un l 3:00 pm. Does Blessed Sacrament School offer additional care before and after classes, and how much does it cost? Yes, AM Care runs from 8:00 am 9:00 am and costs $12.50 for the week. A ernoon care runs from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm and costs $20 for the week. You must pre register so that we can staff accordingly. Does Knights of Summer provide lunch on-campus? No. We ask that all campers bring their own lunch and drink. We do provide a microwave for those who may need it. Can I sign up for half day or full day camps? You have the op on to sign up for full or half day camps. Camps are priced accordingly.

4 Counselor in Training-June 9 & 10 Knights Counselor in Training Our Knights of Summer Counselor in Training (CIT) program is for students interested in volunteering with our younger campers throughout the summer. This program provides rising 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students leadership training and job skills, while learning to work together and gain a basic understanding of summer camp opera ons. This program gives par cipants the opportunity to place the needs of others ahead of their own, share what they have learned and be a role model for younger campers. At the end of the week campers will have the opportunity to sign up to assist with other BSS camps throughout the summer. $100 Thursday, June 9th (9am 12pm) & Friday, June 10th (9am 12pm) Session I: June 6-10 STEM Technology/Computer Science Thursday/Friday Camper Special for Kids in School through Wednesday! We understand that many local campers may be in school un l Wednesday, June 8. Join us for Thursday & Friday of Computer Science Camp! Half Day Camp is $52 and Full Day Camp is $64. (3rd 5th Grade) An introduc on class on problem solving, crea ng computer programs and developing web pages. Our camp is developed to engage and excite students with no prior programming experience while s ll engaging those campers with prior experience. The campers will learn Java Script (programming language for web browsers) on Khan Academy and will also learn how to design simple webpages using notepad and internet browsers. Monday Friday, 9am 12pm Add X STREAM A ernoon Adventures and stay un l 3pm! (K 2nd Grade) An introduc on class on problem solving, crea ng computer programs and developing web pages. Our camp is developed to engage and excite students with no prior programming experience while s ll engaging those campers with prior experience. The campers will learn basic programming skills on Code.org (through drag and drop blocks) and will engage in fun unplugged ac vi es to learn how a computer works. Monday Friday, 1pm 4pm Students may arrange to arrive at 12:00pm for lunch and stay for a er care un l 4:30pm if needed Welcome Summer During this camp our li lest Knights will spend the week welcoming Summer! Ac vi es include fun with bubbles, making goofy goggles and silly sunglasses, sand art, making tye dye shirts, have having a fuity sno cone party! 5 Session II June STEM Exciting Engineering (K 2nd Grade) Challenge your science mind. Build and design contrap ons with daily engineering tasks. From bungee jumping eggs to polishing pennies, have an X STREAM week as an engineer. Throughout the week our Junior Engineers will use 21st century skills of cri cal thinking, collabora on, problem solving, adaptability, curiosity, and imagina on. Campers will modify and crea vely build hands on projects that integrate science, technology, engineering, and math. *Supply Fee applies (3rd 5th Grade) Challenge your science mind. Build and design contrap ons with daily engineering tasks. Have an X STREAM week as an engineer! Throughout the week our 3rd 5th grade Junior Engineers will use 21st century skills of cri cal thinking, collabora on, problem solving, adaptability, curiosity, and imagina on. The campers will learn about simple machines (gear train, wheel and axle, lever, inclined plane, pulley, wedge & screw) and create simple machines from scratch while learning how they work. *Supply Fee applies Little Engineers As a Li le Engineer your child will solve mysteries, inves gate the world and discover new things during their week long adventure of hands on learning. This unique camp will offer an incredible collec on of projects that will amuse and amaze your li le engineer! Ac vi es include building toothpick cubes and prisms, popsicle catapults, funnels, tubes, and balls, push pin art with rubber bands, and fun building with foods! Session III June Art Appreciation Back for 2016, Art Apprecia on Campers will learn about a wide variety of ar sts and create their own masterpieces. We will learn about the style, famous works, and the life of ar sts and choose a piece of artwork to replicate. Campers will be guided, brushstroke by brushstroke, to recreate the ar sts work. Ar sts will be encouraged to put their own spin on the pain ng to cra a unique and beau ful work. Art Apprecia on camp will create a well rounded ar st in just a week! *Supply Fee applies Little Artists Is your Li le Knight ready to be a Popsicle s ck Picasso? If so, this is the week long, fun fllled camp for your camper! Li le Knights will finger paint, make hand print art, create with marbles and bubbles, sculpt with modeling clay, and even color cookies! It's going to be a great week learning about Art!

6 Session IV June 27-July 1 STEM LEGO Robotics (Two Sesssions for 3rd 5th Grades: Limit of 6 campers per session) The Summer LEGO Robo cs Camp will introducecampers to building and programming robots using LEGO EV3 Robot. Students will learn mechanical design, construc on, programming and teamwork skills. Students will work in small teams using LEGO blocks, motors, and sensors. Students use a computer to program the robot to move, react, and makes sounds in order to solve challenges. Lovin LEGOs Lovin Legos has built a whole new structure for the 2016 Camp so that our li lest builders can enjoy! Campers will build LEGO storage fun boxes, build words with LEGOs, learn math with LEGOs, sort, build, play, and more! Session V July American Girls Back by popular demand, American Girl camp will revisit the old favorites like crea ng clothing and costumes for our dolls. Campers will also learn more about their doll by researching their lives and sharing informa on with the camp. Campers will also work with their dolls to script, rehearse, and perform a play at the end of the week. American Girl camp wouldn t be the same without dress up days like the pajama party and a fancy tea party as the finale of the week! Monday Friday 9am 12pm Add X STREAM A ernoon Adventures and stay un l 3pm! SPLASH: Spanish Culture This week will provide a broad yet in depth look at Spanish language and culture. They will gain an apprecia on for the culture through a focus on tradi onal and modern art from Spain, Mexico and Central and South America. Kids will also gain a be er understanding of daily life in Spanish culture. The Spanish language immersion summer camp gives children the chance to enjoy tradi onal summer fun in a languageimmersion se ng. This camp combines summer fun, outdoor games, Spanish theater, cooking, storytelling, and hands on Spanish learning ac vi es! This program is for students in the SPLASH program through ABSS or na ve speakers. Monday Friday, 9am 12pm / Add X STREAM A ernoon Adventures and stay un l 3pm! Teddy Bear Time It's Teddy Bear me with the Li le Knights! Campers will hand sew their own teddy bear for the week's adventures. The tebby bear will visit the Bear Bou que, a end Bear Book Club, have a Teddy Bear campout, and a Teddy Bear Tea Party!

7 Session VI July STEM Challenge Island (Session for K-2nd and 3rd-5th) Challenge Island is the newest STEM challenge to come to The Knights of Summer! Campers will be stranded' on a desert island with only a small box of supplies and their imagina on. We will need to brainstorm, engineer, and collaborate to get off the island by the end of the week! Will you be a castaway or the ul mate survivor?? Monday Friday, 9am 12pm Add X STREAM A ernoon Adventures and stay un l 3pm! Adventures in STEM Another week of fun and adventures for our Littlest Knights! This week they will engage in activities that are woven with science, technology, engineering, and math. Marbled milk, baking soda volcanoes, scribble art, mosaic masterpieces, and silly faces photoshop are just a few of the activities on the agenda. Don't miss the fun! Monday-Friday, 9am-12pm Add X-STREAM Afternoon Adventures and stay until 3pm! (Sessions for K-2nd and 3rd-5th) Session VII July Science in the Kitchen Science experiments that you can eat! There is so much science and fun right in your own kitchen. We will work coopera vely with other young scien sts in this week of discovery and fun. Are your brave enough to eat your own experiments?! We've researched hundreds of recipes and formulas and have chosen our top favorite chemistry ac vi es. Campers will love digging into and examining and ea ng the results of these crazy chemical concoc ons! This wildly popular camp sold out in Register today! Little Chefs A Li le Knights version of our Science in the Kitchen camp! Li le Chefs will enjoy safe and age appropriate inves ga ons of the science behind our food. Ac vi es include fruit faces, cookie cu er fun, coffee can bread, pretzel design, and even an ice cream party! 8 Session VIII August 1-5 Japanese Culture Spend a week exploring the Japanese Culture with Hiroko Solari. During this week campers will be introduced to the Japanese language and alphabet, learn how to make origami, learn math techniques with the abacus, and see a kimono demonstra on. Campers will sing, make music, play games, cra, and prepare food. The children will develop confidence and be excited to begin their Kindergarten journey in SPLASH a er this camp. This camp is for rising Kindergarten students or rising First Grade students interested in a refresher. Students need to be enrolled in the SPLASH program through ABSS. Session IX August 8-12 Kidstunes Academy Summer Music Camp Intro to Piano a camp for students wan ng to learn keyboard skills in a fun, interac ve, group environment! In addi on to learning to play the keyboard, students will enjoy nota on/rhythm games, drumming games/circles, instrument ensembles, dances and musical stories. Snack will be provided.
