12 Do I need a PayPal account to register? FAQ Frequently Asked Questions Registration A PayPal account is not required to register for Camp ARF. You can manually enter your credit card information online. Credit card payments can also be made over the phone by calling (925) What if I need to cancel my child s camp registration? Instead of canceling, we encourage you to transfer to another session so your child can still enjoy the Camp ARF experience! However, we understand that circumstances change and you might need to cancel altogether. To do so, please submit your cancellation request in writing to youth@arflife.org. If received at least 30 days prior to the start of camp, we are happy to provide a refund minus a $50 cancellation fee. If cancellation is submitted less than 30 days prior to the start of camp, we will refund half of the full camp payment. No refunds are offered for cancellations less than two weeks prior to the start of camp. When I register, can I request for my child to be with a friend or sibling? Many participants have enjoyed attending camp with a friend, sibling or neighbor. It can be fun to have a familiar face at camp, and there are benefits to carpooling! If your child is planning to attend with someone they know, you can make note of your camper s friends in the Additional Information section of the registration form. IMPORTANT - Please be aware that we cannot guarantee friends/siblings will be together during camp. If they are the same age, there will be opportunities for them to be together throughout the camp day. However, camper seating and group selection may vary each day. We believe camp provides a wonderful opportunity to make new friends and have new experiences. If you have special circumstances you want us to be aware of, please include that information when registering.
13 FAQ Frequently Asked Questions Registration Does Camp ARF offer any discounts or scholarships? Camp ARF offers need-based financial assistance. To be considered for a scholarship, please complete the application form online. My child is currently in 2nd grade. Should I register them for the 1st-2nd grade camp or the 3rd-5th camp? For summer camp, you should register your child for the grade that they will be entering in the fall. Rising 2nd graders would want to register for the 3rd-5th grade camp. During the school year, for one day or Winter/Spring Break camps, register for the camp grade that they are currently attending. Can I request an age exception for my child to attend a camp that does not correlate with their age/grade? Please register for the camp that correlates with your child s age/grade. If you have special circumstances you want us to be aware of, please include that information when registering or contact People Connect staff at youth@arflife.org.
14 Will my child interact with ARF animals? Campers will interact with ARF Pet Hug Pack therapy animals on a daily basis. Camp ARF counselors provide as much shelter animal interaction as possible, but cannot guarantee daily interaction with shelter cats and dogs. While animal interactions are a favorite aspect of Camp ARF programs, campers are engaged in a variety of activities to help build relationships with animals. Besides animal interactions, campers should expect a camp day to also include animalthemed activities. Will my child go inside the animal condos? FAQ Frequently Asked Questions Animals! In compliance with ARF policies, only ARF staff, trained volunteers, and people looking to adopt may enter the condos. These policies ensure the health, safety, and comfort of ARF s shelter animals.
15 What does my child need to bring to camp? At least a week prior to camp, you will receive a Camp ARF welcome letter explaining everything your child needs to bring on the first day of camp, including a water bottle and a healthy snack. A few things to consider when preparing for camp: Due to the interactions with animals, campers are required to wear long pants and closed-toe shoes. Camp ARF staff are trained in first aid, but are not authorized to administer medication. This includes allergy medications and sunscreen! Will snack be provided during Camp ARF? FAQ Frequently Asked Questions What to Bring (and What to Leave Home) To better accommodate the varying allergy/dietary needs of all our campers, Camp ARF asks families to provide campers with a healthy snack they can eat with minimal assistance from staff. All campers should bring a water bottle labeled with their name to camp every day. Is ARF a peanut or tree nut-free facility? What is ARF s allergy policy? ARF makes every effort to maintain a clean and sanitized environment. However, the ARF facility contains potential allergens which can cause an allergic reaction, including (but not limited to) food allergens and pet dander. For more information, please review ARF s Allergy and Medical Policy.
