2 Minutes: May 12 Meeting at Mount Vernon: Minutes of the May 12, 2015 meeting at Denny's Mt Vernon. The meeting was called to order at 7:30 PM by the president. Members in attendance was (29): Lonnie & Marlene Anderson, Paul Borgen, Russ Bormeman, Mona Brown, Richard & Betty Carey, Jack Duncan & Joann C, Doug & Linda Gilbert, Jack & Susan Harrison, Gene & Doris Hitt, Ann Humphreys, Dale & Patti McAtee, Ken McDonald, Joanne Olson, Mel Paul, Bryan Pierson, Bob Purrier, Jim & June Reed, Bill & Sandy Ruch, Roger Tenbrink, Mike Yahns. The Minutes of April 28, 2015 meeting in Village Pizza Anacortes were read and approved, Treasurer's report was read and approved. Membership remains at (52). Old Business: Trailer day is May 17th. Meet at Petco at 12 noon. Don't forget that we start the new meeting time at 7 PM June 9, Due to problems with the menus and such at The Farmhouse we will be having our Christmas party at Max Dales. A big thank you went out to Jim Reed for sending out the about the Toyota car show. We had six cars there. We will be having the Cascade Mall show July 26, 2015 from 2 PM to 6PM. Linda talked with Skip Nelsen about a car show (showing) at Shell. The club will be given $ for the day. That will be July 18, Joann mentioned her pot luck Aug. 8, Bill Ruch mentioned the Corning Car show in CA. Jack Duncan talked about the Yakama show. New Business: Anacortes now has a cruise-in at the bowling alley the first Friday of the month. Starts at 6 PM. The Idlers car show is June 27, 2015 from 9 AM to 3 PM in Stanwood. Other car show notices are kept on the front table during the meeting. Meeting adjourned at 8:05 PM. Jokers up was won by Gene Hitt. The Meeting was called to order at 7:26 PM by the president. The minutes of the May 12, 2015 meeting were read and approved with two exceptions. The Treasurer s report was given. Membership (52) Old Business: Our Anacortes shows are June 6th & 7th. Remember to bring your radios and wear your club shirts. Be there at 7 AM for both shows. Dave Overton will arrange to have power supplied. Sandy is making flyers for our Cascade Mall show, July 26. The Shell refinery car show will be July 18. It is only open to Shell employees. Meet at Mt Vernon Petco at 9AM. We had a successful trailer day at the Borgen s. The trailer was washed and organized. The raffle prizes were counted and sorted. We will raffle off $100 cash at each show in Anacortes. There were a lot of complaints about Denny s service last meeting. We will give them one more try. New Business: Lyman show is July 11. We ll meet at Mt Vernon Petco at 7:30 AM. The Anacortes Bowling Alley had 45 cars at their Cruise In. August 8th is Joanne & Brian s pot luck. Meeting Adjourned at 8:00 PM. Joker s up was won by Mel Paul.. Next meeting will be at Mt Vernon Denny s on June 9th at 7:00 PM.

3 Blast from the Past: ANACORTES WATERFRONT SHOW May 17, 1998, by June Reed The day started with clouds and ended with clouds, but no rain. We arrived about 7 AM and helped the other early risers, Overton, DeLeonardo, Duckens, Foster, Gilbert, Humann, Humphreys with Pepper, Mitchelle, Olson and Maryott to get things set up. Overton and Maryott already had their cars in place. I t wasn t long before Holds, Page/Watson. Spurrier, Martin/Franzen, and Strowbridge arrived with their cars. Shortly after their arrival more cars starting coming. When registration was closed we had 71 cars registered. Not bad for a cloudy and rather cool morning. My favorite was the "General Lee" car that was bought from Warner Brothers. I t was one of the stunt cars that did the two wheel stunts in the TV show. Dukes of Hazard. We also had a 1940 "Willys" and a Kenworth replica truck among the many magnificent cars that were displayed. During the day other club members were spotted: Barco, Bartek, Paulette DeLeonardo & children, Anita Foster, Jan Maryott, Linda Gilbert, McAtees, Lucille Mitchelle, Nagels, Nelsons, Brian Olson, Sandy Overton, Shafer/Helen, Sampson and Spurrier s friend, Ruth. (Blast from the Past: continued) Door prizes and raffles were drawn about 2 PM and we sold a lot of raffle tickets for that 10 yards of gravel. The lucky winner was from Bellingham. The trophies were given out at 2:30 PM to several lucky winners. Among them were some of our club members: Maryotts (49 Cadillac), Duckens (65 Corvette), Overton (78 Corvette), and Martin/Franzen (57 Chevy Belair). Congratulations to all! After the trophies were given out we packed up everything and headed over to Dave and Sandy Overton's for hotdogs, hamburgers, snacks and desserts. I think everyone was hungry from the day's activities and everything was greatly appreciated from the food to the good friendships. Thanks Dave and Sandy for having us. See you all at our "All Corvette Car Show" at Red Robin Restaurant in Burlington on June 20. The waterfront festival had entertainment and food booths for the people's enjoyment. Jack DeLeonardo, one of our club members, brought his mobile medical van. Luckily no one had any injuries. Thanks Jack!! Member s ride of the month: Ann's 1977 Coupe

4 Corvette News: The Mecum Auctions event on June 5-6 at Century Link field in Seattle will have a few interesting cars: The Camouflaged Soldier 1969 Chevrolet Corvette L88 coupe is a very rare, unrestored example whose history includes three decades ( ) in careful storage. One of 116 produced in 1969, Sold new at Selman Chevrolet in Orange, California. Original 427/430 HP L88 engine with heavy duty M22 4-speed transmission, F41 heavy duty suspension and J56 special heavy duty brakes. OR two 427 Camaros including a 1969 Yenko, one of the first 50 ordered by Yenko under the COPO 9561 program. Sold new at Joseph Chevrolet in Cincinnati, Ohio, it was also delivered with the COPO 9737 Sports Car Conversion equipment. Fully rotisserie restored. The other is a really pretty Rallye Green COPO. It was also stored from1978 to The former racecar is fully restored and the rebuilt engine block is a replacement dated to 1969 (installed in 1971). The 11.0:1 compression engine is detailed to restoration standards and made 477 horsepower on the dyno. Or, if you re not adverse to the Blue Oval, there s this toy: 1965 Mustang Factory A/FX, 427 CI SOHC engine. Holman Moody produced only 13 of these altered wheelbase cars of which 5 are known to exist. Believed to be the only unaltered wheel base car left. Corvette Racing: MONTEREY, Calif. Richard Westbrook and Michael Valiante gave the Corvette Daytona Prototype its third straight victory in the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship on Sunday. The pairing won the Continental Tire Monterey Grand Prix at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in their VisitFlorida.com Racing No. 90 Corvette DP. Corvette Daytona Prototypes took four of the top five positions in the fourth race of the season. Sunday's result increased Chevrolet's lead in the Prototype Engine Manufacturer championship, and it vaulted Westbrook and Valiante into the lead of the Prototype Driver's standings. In GT Le Mans, Corvette Racing's two Chevrolet Corvette C7.Rs finished sixth and seventh in class. Gavin and Milner in the No. 4 Corvette posted their best finish since a third-place result to start 2015 at Daytona. Milner qualified fifth but was balked at the start and had to cede two positions. Gavin drove the final 57 minutes and suffered a minor hit by a Prototype Challenge car but otherwise had an uneventful stint. Two-time and defending Laguna Seca class winners Garcia and Magnussen found frustration early and often in their race. Garcia started near the rear of the field after an overnight engine change but quickly moved through the slower GT Daytona field. Unfortunately he suffered right-front body damage as two prototypes worked the field.

5 Word of the month: Dudgeon: Noun - a fit of resentment, offense, or anger, now usually in the phrase in high dudgeon ; a feeling of indignation at something regarded as a wrong or insult. I was in extreme dudgeon when I returned to my almost new Cyber Grey Corvette to find an inch and a half white scratch on the driver s side mirror! Recipe of the month: SLOW COOKER BBQ RIBS Ingredients: 1-3 slabs of back ribs (3 pork back slabs are shown in the picture) 1 can / bottle of Coke or Dr. Pepper (I used a bottle for my 3 slabs) Sweet Baby Rays BBQ Sauce (or one of your choosing) Salt and Pepper to Taste Directions: Place ribs in a circular way to fill your slow cooker. Pour soda/pop over ribs, sprinkle salt & pepper over ribs - cover and cook on LOW for 7 hours. Empty liquid from the slow cooker. Pour a bottle of Sweet Baby Rays BBQ Sauce (or bbq sauce of your choice) over ribs and cook on HIGH for an additional 1 hour. Be super careful when removing ribs from the slow cooker - they are FALL OFF THE BONE YUMMY!
