This is our Sweetheart Ball. Boat Club Meeting: 2/10, 10:00 AM in the Lemon Lime Room. There will be coffee and donuts (donation) and 50/50 raffle. Tennis Tournament: Tennis Tournament vs. Del Webb 2/10, 9:00 AM. Come down and cheer on Hawthorne for our final home match of the season. Plenty of seating. Safety Seminar: 2/17, 10:00 AM in the Lemon/Lime and Palm Rooms. Don s Golf Cart will be here along with information on smoke alarms, etc. Come on out for some valuable information on safety. Shuffleboard Meeting: 2/17, 9:00 AM moved to front of Auditorium due to Safety Seminar. Archery Club Open House: 2/17, 10:00 AM-1:00 PM at the Archery Range. Come on up to the Archery Range and have a free hot dog, chips and a soft drink. Give Archery a try or watch some of our archers. A 50/50 raffle will be held. Hope to see everyone at the range! Saturday Night Dance: 2/17, 7:00-10:00 PM in the Auditorium with music by Finesse Duo, Residents & Guests $5.00. VFW Poker Run: 2/24, 9-12 noon in the Auditorium. Community tickets (Tally Cards) are $5 or 3 for $10 and tickets sold thru 2/24. Join the fun and play in the VFW Poker Run. Seven stations will be set up around the community where you can walk, drive, bike, etc. to each station to get your playing card selection. There will be 3 winners based on best 5 cards of seven played. SOLOS Clermont Historic Village Tour: 3/10, 10:30 AM. Tickets will be sold 2/13 at the SOLOS meeting. Tickets are $2 per person. Scenic drive by Lake Minneola. Lunch at Cheeser s Palace Café in Clermont. $12.70 includes tax and tip for 4 choice menu, includes coffee, ice tea or you can order from the regular menu. Then there will be a guided tour of Clermont Historic Village. Drivers needed.

2 SUNDAY Pitch & Putt Ice Cream Social / Card Bingo: 2/11, 6:00 PM in the Auditorium tickets on sale thru 2/9, $4.00 per person and $5.00 at the door. $1.00 from each ticket goes to Card Bingo. Hawthorne Players Walking Parade: 2/11, 1:30 PM. Come one Come all. Get a sneak peek of the Hawthorne Players next play coming 3/19 thru 3/21. A walking parade of the characters in the play will march from Tamarisk to the Clubhouse on 2/11 at 1:30 PM (weather permitting). Please support our players by cheering them on as they march by! Concert Series: 2/18, 3:00 PM in the Auditorium. Concert Series presents the University of Central Florida Symphony Orchestra with an exciting program of great selections. Please join us in welcoming this fine group to our community. Doors open at 2:00 PM. Single performance tickets are $ 15 at the door. Boat Club 2 nd Annual Chili Cook-Off: 2/25, 3:00 PM at the Marina. Guests will be $2 each. Signup sheet will be in the Hall until 2/22. You can have your chili judged if you indicate that on the signup sheet. Hawthorne Dinner Theater: March 4th, Bus leaves at 11:30 AM tickets on sale 2/9, $60.00 per person. UNEXPECTED SONGS: Andrew Lloyd Webber & Rodgers & Hammerstein. Christine, Raoul, Norma, Grizabella, Joseph, the Von Trapps, Anna, Curly and the Phantom. Ring any bells? Menu: Baked Ziti & Meatballs, garlic bread, salad and apple cobbler. Door prizes! BYOB Camping Club Strawberry Shortcake Special: 3/5, 6:00 PM in the Auditorium. Tickets $5.00 and sold 2/14 thru 3/1. Homemade biscuits, strawberries, and whipped cream followed by card bingo. $1.00 of each ticket goes to Bingo. TUESDAY New York Club Be My Valentine Community Dinner Dance : 2/13, 5:00 PM in the Auditorium. Family style Turkey Dinner with all the fixings, dessert, coffee and ice tea. Dancing with Bob Watts Entertainment following dinner. 50/50 and door prizes. BYOB. SOLOS Meeting: 2/13, 4:00 PM in the Lemon Lime Room. Valentine party and elections of officers. 3 2018 Health Fair: 2/20, 10:00 AM until 12 Noon in the Hall. There will be a variety of screening and testing, hearing, vision, blood pressure, blood sugar and more. There will be gift prizes. Mark your calendars and join us. AARP Health Screening: 2/20, 10AM-12 Noon at the Health Fair. All of our service providers will be present; Pearl Vision, Connect Hearing, Hawthorne EMT for glucose and our RNs for blood pressure. We plan to have extra staff to accommodate all our residents. Remember it is a free service. NOTICE: All activities pre-empted 2/20 until 2:00 PM due to Health Fair in the Hall and Lemon Lime Room. Scrapbooking; 2/20, 1:00-3:00 PM in the Gallery. Come join us for the Scrapbooking Clubs Easter and Birthday Card making class. There is a $5.00 supply fee charge. Snacks and drinks will be served. Limited to 20 sign up at the information center. Chair Volleyball: 2/27, 1:00 PM in the Lemon/Lime Rooms. Remember we play on the 4 th Tuesday and 2 nd Thursday of the month. We will be collecting $2.00 annual dues if you have not paid. Florida Friendly Landscaping: 2/27, 10:00 AM-1:00 PM in the Auditorium. Tickets are free 2/12 thru 2/26. Dozens of exhibitors and vendors to learn what you can do to preserve the soil and water. If you are interested, please stop in at the Program Office and request the Finance Office Job Description. Cut-off date is February 28 th. Hawthorne Art & Photography: Reminder Fine Arts and Photography Club Woodworkers al artisans entries for the show are due 2/23. Drop off form at the Birdhouse on the Information Center.?? Call Diane or Donna Rummage Sale: Drop off Jewelry for sale as soon as possible to Anne Kosydar, 223 Palo Verde Drive ( ). Shed #1 will be open Thursday in February from 10:00 AM until 12 noon. For pick up of large items please call or by Wednesday each week. Also windows, doors (aluminum or wood) are not acceptable. Do not leave items when the sheds are closed at any time. Reminder: Effective February 16, 2018 we will no longer accept rummage sale donations due to lack of storage space. Please hold your donations for pick- up in March. Camping Trip: 3/2 & 3/3, Camping trip to Sunshine Village in Webster, FL. We need a knowledgeable captain to right the ship and shape up the crew. This is a plea for anyone, newcomers, or seasonal Hawthorne residents to show us the way. Rummage Sale: Looking ahead to the future needs, the rummage sale chairmen are looking for anyone with an interest in taking over the supervision and planning of yearlong activities, culminating in the actual sale. The person would work closely this year with present chairmen and learn the ropes.
