3 LIBRARIES FAYETTEVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY SUMMER READING CLUB 2018 Children s Summer Reading sponsored by Fayetteville Public Library Foundation
4 LIBRARIES Who gets a summer reading log? Any child through 4th grade who is reading independently may sign up to be a summer reader and receive a log to track reading progress. Readers may complete as many logs as they want throughout the summer to be eligible for prizes. Sign up in the Children s Library or online at Listeners may also sign up in the library or online and receive a listening log. For independent readers, how does the log work? Readers will record time read. Each clock on the log equals 1 hour. When 5 hours (5 clocks) in the log are finished, readers are eligible for an entertainment coupon for each of the first 3 logs. For the 4th log completed, readers will receive a prize and a book. The first 175 readers to complete log 4 will also receive 2 tickets to a Northwest Arkansas Naturals baseball game. For every log completed, readers enter their name in the drawing for end-of-summer grand prizes. Please note, audiobooks do not count as time read for this age group. What about the log for listeners? Listeners may enroll in the program as a listener and get a listening log at the Children s Desk. Parents and caregivers record the title of each book read to the child in their log. For every 6 books, the child earns a sticker. When the log is filled, the child may choose a book as a prize. Listeners may fill up as many logs as they want throughout the summer. 7-UPs! Rising seventh graders can get involved at FPL this summer. As volunteers, they assist with weekly programs and special projects and plan a children s story time. Sign up at the Children s Desk between May 1 and June 12. Teens Sign up at the Children s Desk or online. Participants will record time read. Each clock on the log equals 1 hour. There will be 4 winners each week as well as 25 grand prize winners at the end of summer. For the 1st completed log, participants will pick out a book to take home. Adults read, too!
