2 President s Report Dan McCoy President@NewYorkCentrals.com..Spring has sprung Another exciting camping year starts for the New York Centrals and it looks to be shaping up to be a rally schedule with a wide variety of themes. It s with sad regrets that we have to pause and remember two members who passed away this winter. Andy Mancini was instrumental in starting of the New York Centrals and also served as the First President. Andy was a life member of FMCA. Andy and his wife Ginny were dear friends and contributed many hours to the FMCA and the New York Centrals and we all share the loss of Andy. Jacobus (Ko) Fay, with health issues was no longer RVing and recently gave up his membership after many years. You could not ask for a nicer individual to call your friend and fellow member. He will be missed by all of us that knew him and called him friend. The big rally event this year is going to be the FMCA 94 th Family Reunion in West Springfield, MA. The theme is Celebrate Your Freedom. The Northeast Area (NEAR) is responsible for hosting the event and all chapters and their members are expected to help. We have already volunteered to help serve coffee and donuts each morning and it will require everyones help (We felt by doing coffee and donuts early, it would allow us the entire day and evening to enjoy all the rally activities). Attending a large international rally like Springfield is a great time with lots to see, learn, great entertainment and a time to just have fun. If you have not made your reservations, don t wait any longer since space is limited. Everyone I know has asked for24hr generator parking spots. At our May rally, we will be Rocking-n-Rolling with a Blue Hawaii, and Elvis theme. Country Music Park in Cortland will be the setting. Time to go way back in your closets and dig out those old s clothes and join the rest of us old sock hoppers and have fun laughing at ourselves. RSVP as soon as possible so reservations can be made. If we make it thru our Rock-n-Rolling rally we can join with the Vrabels and the Bartons for their Graduation at Sned Acres Family Campground in Ovid NY. Reminder Jim and Sherry Miller are also hosting a Memorial Day weekend rally in Waterloo NY, which looks to be full of everything to keep us busy. Those planning to attend need to RSVP by 20 th of May. Advance warning! Our joint TIV s/nyc rally, where we will be expected to defend the Lyn Trophy will take place in August at Owen Orchard and Rolling Wheels Raceway. Bev Vrabel has lots of green shirts, sweatshirts and hats for sale. We will have to wear our green shirts in Springfield, so stock up now. We will have a business meeting in May. If there is anything that has to be discussed, bring it to the attention of any executive board member. Please remember we are all friends and we do not need to disrespect each other if we disagree. Take your disagreements outside and discuss it like adults, disrespect will not be tolerated in our business meetings. Malice toward none and charity for all (Abraham Lincoln Mar 4, 1865)
3 1st Vice President Report Jim Wilson Well, here it is Spring already with another great camping season ahead of us. The first campout is fast approaching on May 20th at the Country Music Park in Cortland. This rally is being hosted by Ralph and Ginger Dudgeon and Rich and Char Burrell. Dolores and I had a great winter in Florida, with a side trip to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for a week on our way back home. While "wintering" in Florida, we had an opportunity to meet up with Dan and Sue, Bev and Mike, Paul and Sandy, and Hal and Judy, along with all the other campers at Turkey Lake for a mini-rally hosted by Dan and Sue. We also got to meet up with Rich and Char at a later date, along with Bev and Mike, and Paul and Sandy, for some card playing, good conversation, and lunch at a local restaurant. If you haven't already done so, don't forget to register for the FMCA International Rally in West Springfield, Massachusetts, being held August 3rd through August 6th. Hope to see you all at the rally in Cortland! Jim Wilson 1st Vice President 2ND Vice President Report Hal Soutar vp@NewYorkCentrals.com Hello everyone, I trust everyone had a safe and wonderful winter. Judi and I came home a week earlier than we had planned, the weather was great and the traffic was light all the way home. It was nice to be away for the harsh upstate winters but it was even greater to be home again. It appears that spring has finally arrived, the trees are beginning to bud the tulips are up and now it s time to knock the dust off the yard equipment and begin the battle with Mother Nature. We started to mow the lawn this week now we have something to look forward to every 4 days for the next month and a half. We managed to get to the Florida rally at Turkey Lake again this year, it was great to see everyone and we enjoyed the comradery. I want to thank Dan, Sue, Paul, Sandy, Mike and Bev for their hospitality. We met some great folks and had a wonderful time. In our travels we discovered some really great camp grounds in southern Florida and maybe one or two not so great; it ll be a good reference for next year. The May rally is just around the corner and we look forward to more good time with our wonderful group. We have never been to the Country Music Park before and it ll be a great adventure. Hal Soutar
4 From the National Director Bart Barton As I write this, Elaine and I just got home from Biloxi, MS. We left 75º sunshine and returned to below freezing temperatures and snow. With any luck, the snow will be gone by the time you read this. Elaine and I are looking forward to seeing you all at the May rally at Country Music Park. We will also be co-hosting the June rally with Bev and Mike Vrabel ay Sned-Acres Family Campground in Ovid, NY. This year the FMCA International Convention will be in West Springfield, MA August 3 6. I would encourage all of you to consider attending. The national convention won t be this close again for a few years. We will be volunteering so we get to go in early. We are caravanning in so we can all park together in the 24 hour generator area. We always have a great time at these national conventions. Bart Treasurer s Report Sue McCoy Treasurer@NewYorkCentrals.com Opening Balance (As of 9/1/15) $ Revenues Membership dues $ September Rally Profits $ Clothing Sales $ Total $ Expenses Newsletter $ Greeting Cards $ 9.23 Memorial Gifts $ Apparel Order $ Total $ Ending Balance (4/20/16) $ Secretary s Report Dolores Wilson Secretary@NewYorkCentrals.com I hope everyone who was "wintering" down South has arrived home safe and sound, and for those of you that "wintered" up North, I hope the winter was kind to you. No matter where you spent this past winter, it is exciting that spring has arrived and we can now focus on the great rally schedule we have in place. I know some of our New York Centrals members did some recruiting over the winter, and our membership has grown. Thanks to each of you. When you have the opportunity, please make a point of introducing yourself to our new members and make them feel welcome. Jim and I are looking forward to the camping season ahead, and hope to see you in Cortland! Dolores Wilson
5 MEMBERSHIP REPORT Elaine Barton HI Everyone, Hope everyone had a great winter. Well it is that time of year again, dues are due! The dues can be paid at the May Rally or by sending them snail mail to me. Looking forward to seeing everyone again and catching up. Thanking you all in advance. Elaine REMINDER: ANNUAL CHAPTER DUES ARE DUE QUILTERS UNITE Hello, I'm passing this message on to the New York Centrals because we were a big part along with the FingerLakers and Penny Mixers and ON Road Quilters. During the FMCA rally in Buffalo we held a weekend sew-a- thon so I'm hoping there are still some quilters in the club so that we could help to break the old record Thank you, Cindy Smith The last time a convention was held in NY (Buffalo), we had over 300 quilts donated and a great many came from area chapters due to the efforts of Millie Worden (Finger Lakers Chapter) and many others. We encourage the area chapters to repeat our record making donation at Springfield. It is all part of "On Road Quilters". Getting word out to chapter members ASAP is important because the quilts have to be made and that takes time. We have also had stuffed animals contributed to help comfort the children. We plan on displaying the quilts in the info center during the Rally. In the past we have donated the quilts to police, fire and EMS offices in the area, but this time they will be donated to the local Ronald McDonald House to benefit the children. Any help the NE can give will be most welcome. My heart is still in the NE. Jean Pryor
