1 SAN FRANCISCO POLICE DEPARTMENT RICHMOND STATION April 27th, 2017 Volume 1, Issue 6 Captain Alexa O Brien CAPTAIN S MESSAGE: It has been another hectic week in the Richmond this week. However, a highlight for me was being invited to lunch at SFFD s Fire Station 31 (at 12th Ave & Geary Blvd). Captain Tillman and his crew were very hospitable, and provided an amazing lunch. It was a fantastic opportunity to get to know the Richmond District s firefighters! I am extremely grateful for my warm reception here at Richmond Station by the community. It was a pleasant surprise to receive this invitation from another City Department. I am really excited to build a strong partnership between the SFPD and the SFFD. Check out the photos from my lunch! - Captain O Brien Quote of the week: I hated every minute of training, but I said, 'Don't quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion. 3 INCIDENTS IN THE RICHMOND DISTRICT THIS WEEK Parolee-At-Large Arrested After Terrorizing Local Market Arguello Boulevard & Cabrillo Street 04/17/2017 7:15 PM When an individual known to steal from a local market was told to leave the store, he complied and the police were not called. When he returned to the store and began banging his suitcase against the store window, the store owner decided to call police. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arriving. After speaking with the store owner, the officers were able to locate the suspect nearby. The officers ran a criminal history check on the suspect and discovered that he had a no bail parolee-at-large warrant for his arrest. Thanks to the fast-acting officers of Richmond Station, this suspect was promptly transported to County Jail for booking. The Richmond District market need not worry about this suspect stealing their merchandise for the time being. Speeder With Suspended Driver s License Gets Car Towed Park Presidio Boulevard 04/21/2017 9:15 PM Cars frequently speed along Park Presidio Boulevard. That is why Richmond District officers regularly enforce the speed limit laws along this stretch of road. During a recent traffic enforcement operaton, officers observed a vehicle which appeared to be traveling at a high rate of speed. The officers used their Lidar equipment and confirmed that the vehicle was traveling at almost twice the posted speed limit. The officers stopped the vehicle and contacted the driver. After running a records check on the driver, it was learned that his driving privileges had been suspended. Furthermore, he also had numerous prior arrests for driving with a suspended driver slicense. This individual was subsequently cited for speeding and driving without a license. Due to his prior arrests for the same violation, his vehicle was towed and impounded. Page 3

4 INCIDENTS IN THE RICHMOND DISTRICT THIS WEEK Late Night Assault inside Mountain Lake Park Lake Street & 12 th Avenue 04/23/2017 3:40 AM In the middle of the night, a victim was assaulted by a man with a stick in Mountail Lake Park. The victim was able to make contact with local residents, and asked them to call the police. Officers from Richmond Station were dispatched to the scene, where they found the victim bleeding from the head. The victim, who appeared to be inebriated, was initially reluctant to speak to the Officers. The officers, through patience and rapport building, were able to gain his cooperation. They also requested medics to assess the victim s injuries. Additional officers searched inside the park for suspects. They located a group of suspects sleeping. Next to the group, the officers also located a large stick and what appeared to be blood. The officers questioned the group, and one of them admitted to being involved in the altercation and hitting the victim with the stick. As a result of their investigation, the suspect was booked at County Jail. The victim went to hospital for further medical treatment. Suspects Arrested After Two Robberies on Cabrillo Street Clement Street Corridor 04/23/ :30 PM Richmond District officers were dispatched to a robbery at Cabrillo Street and 4 th Avenue. Upon arrival officers met with the victim, who had also been assaulted. The victim told officers that he was approached by 2 male suspects who demanded the victim hand over his property. When the victim told the suspects he did not have anything, they began to punch him several times. The suspects then fled the scene in a dark color SUV, which had two additional suspects on board. Shortly afterward, another robbery occurred at Cabrillo Street and 21 st Avenue. In this incident, a dark color SUV pulled up alongside the victim and 3 suspects exited the vehicle. The suspects then approached the victim, put a silver handgun against her neck, and told her to give them her belongings. Fearing she would be shot, the victim complied. The suspects then fled the scene. Thankfully these suspects were apprehended in the Central District when officers pulled over a vehicle matching the description. After a thorough investigation involving multiple police districts, 6 suspects were booked at County Jail for the above crimes. Page 4

It is proudly on display in our Community Room, where the officers of Richmond Station and the community are able to enjoy it. We received so many drawings, that they did not all fit on the wall!
