1 Scuttlebutt Model A Friends, Who would have imagined we would have had so any nice days to drive the Model A in January and February in Oklahoma. Of course, you can not make your trip too long because the next day it could be bitter cold. We should just enjoy them when they come. Hopefully, we will have one of our nice weekends for the Spring Tour to Ponca City, March We hope you have already made your reservations at the Comfort inn and Suites. The deadline is March 1. It will be a fun time. Sheryl and Greg have worked hard to set this tour up for us and the Tulsa Club to enjoy. Plan to join us and if you have not been on a tour with us, you are missing a lot of fun. Come Join Us. We had a great turnout for the January Model A Inspection Day and the ladies did a little antique shopping. Then we met for lunch at San Marcos on 40 th and MacArthur and some delicious Mexican food. If was a fun, productive day. We had our first Steering Committee meeting on the 31 st. There were 23 members that came and I really appreciate your willingness to help with the 2017 Annual Awards Banquet. It is going to be some work for us but I believe it will be a lot of fun and a chance to show off our city to the national Board. Our February meeting will be on the 21 th so put it on your calendar. We will be having a demo by Bob Bordwine and the ladies will be discussing decorations for the 2017 Banquet. See you on the 21 th, VaughnCille Weidner 2017 President Happy Valentine s Day 2017 DUES ARE DUE NOW REMIT DUES TO: SOONER MODEL A CLUB P. O. This weight comes by the roll and has a pressure sensitive backing, and is marked in halfounce segments. We removed the hub caps and used a modern tire balancing machine, stuck the weights on the inside of the wheel and then painted the weights the same color as the wheel. I don t get any out-of-balance sensation and have driven as fast as 70 miles per hour. Submitted by Dale Gale, Claremont, California.

5 Volume 50, Issue 2 Page 5 Inspection Day January 28 Inspection day is one of our most popular annual events. This year was no different. About twenty two members were present for breakfast at Jim s Café. About fifteen cars gathered at Bill Harris garage for inspection. Car inspections included the usual items such as fluid levels, tire pressure, tire condition, steering condition, and brakes. Brakes are always a concern since the mechanical brakes seem rather mysterious to new Model A owners. The condition of the tie rods, drag link, steering box, and king pins are of utmost importance to safety. Front end toe-in was adjusted on one car. Proper toe-in is extremely important since improper toe-in can cause erratic steering and abnormally fast tire wear. Other activities included replacing the window channels in one car and the starter switch on another. The starter switch was not the original step-on switch so the replacement was somewhat more complex. While the men were poking and prodding the Model A s. the ladies enjoyed a shopping trip to Decades Revisited. Decades Revisited features vintage and antique furniture as well as repurposed antiques and eclectic junk. It is likely that your home could be redecorated to match your Model A with furniture from Decades Revisited. Thanks to Chuck and Karen Dusenbery and Michael Downes for photos of inspection day.
