This last year has gone by so fast and our club has been involved in so many different and fun events. It has been an honor to be your President and I truly hope that the membership has enjoyed my leadership and the wonderful board that made this year full of laughter and growth. Each of our board members stepped up this year to chair or co chair an event. Many thanks go out to Vice President Louie Moore, Secretary Marilyn Budde, Treasure Bob Wetzler, Membership Chris Butler, Events Alma Phillips, Newsletter Brad Parsons and Education Ron Stahlecker, each and everyone of you are remarkable people and it has been such a pleasure to work with you. We really did work well together and had a great time doing it. You all are very special friends to me. Many thanks also go out to the many other members that really stepped up to either chair or co chair or volunteer for other activities and events. Our club was very busy this year with events such as the train trip, poker run, tours, the camp out, Main Street Reunion, fun run days, toy drive and Christmas party just to name a few. There were ton's of awards given to our members this year for there beautiful cars and we also won 3 club participation awards. This is all because of you, our members. Thank you so much Yvonne Westberg for bringing so much Sunshine into the club, you did a great job and Mary Morofsky for taking care of our apparel.

2 The Curb Feeler Award added a special new spark to the club with recipients being, Louie Moore, Marilyn Budde, Ray San Lorenzo, Dave Silveira, Dan and Norma McCabe, Brad Parsons, Mike and Chris Butler and Darryl Cameron. Who knows who will be next? It will be fun to find out this next year. Thank you Brad for coming up with this award. We also lost some very dear members this year, Don Martin, Bill Holbrook and Pete Maple. It was with great pride to memorialize each of them at the Main Street Reunion with our Broken Wheel Memorial. They are all dearly missed but will never be forgotten. Several members also had serious health issues and some lost family members and I send my personal thoughts and prayers to each and everyone of you for better health and strength during the holiday season and through the following New Year. Sunshine Corner Card sent this month for Don Lemmons for the loss of his mother. Don we are so sorry for the loss of your mother. Congratulation to Jeff & Krystal Broyles for bringing Ashlyn Debera Broyles into this world born on September 5, Sunshine Chairman Yvonne Westberg (707) Curb Feeler Award was postponed until January But Darryl did surprise Tammy with a PARKING BETWEEN THE LINES AWARD!!!!

Ladies bring for ladies, men bring for men. This is always a fun event. We will be having our annual Christmas Drawing and also a few extra surprises this year. 4 Olema Campout Thank You First of all I want to thank Bill Hogberg for starting our club camp out's. Our Camp Out Potluck was very yummy as usual, hot dishes, finger food, salads and yummy desserts brought by our members. Thank you Sandy Silvera and Sue Grimm for helping on the decoration. Not only did our group enjoy the decorations, so did other campers in the area. All the hard body men that put all the pick nick tables in place and put them back when finished with our Potluck Dinner. All the men that went on the cruise to pick up the oysters, a big thank you. Which looks like we may not have anymore due to the state closing the oyster farm. Dan Mc Cabe thank you for the salute to Glen every year and for starting the oyster thing. I know he is looking down from the heavens and saying go for the oyster guys. Most of all Mike Royer for cooking the oysters and building the huge roaring fire which kept us all warm. Jerry and Barbra Closs, thank you for bringing so many goodies, you both always out do yourself. All the pumpkin carver's, what out standing artist we have in our club. Sandy and Sue were so happy, they made the table decorations so beautiful. The judges had a hard time judging as there were so many nice pumpkin's to choose from. We had two very outstanding pumpkins. The cancer pumpkin was very touching, then we had the flasher which got a lot of hands over the mouth with disbelief and laughs. We had first, second and third places for the Pumpkin carvings and Paper Bag masks. For the Pumpkin carving, First place Ron and Troy Miller (Cancer Pumpkin and guest of Dave and Sandy Silvera), second place David and Sandy Silvera (darling little girl with pigtails) and third place was Brad and Debbie Parsons with the Flasher. Paper Shopping bag mask contest, first place Bob Wetzler (made with car parts), second place Mary Wetzler (darling little puppy) and third place Ron Jayne (mask with the naughty tongue) Again I want to thank everyone who helped make our Camp Out so much fun. 5 December 7, 1941 Hours after Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, the Secret Service found themselves in a bind. President Franklin D. Roosevelt was to give his infamy speech to Congress the next day and, although the trip from the White House to Capitol Hill was short, agents weren t sure how to transport him safely. At the time, Federal Law prohibited buying any cars that cost more than $750, so they would have to get clearance from Congress to do that, and nobody had time for that. One of the Secret Service members, however, remembered that the US Treasury had seized the bulletproof car that mobster Al Capone owned when he was sent to jail in They cleaned it, made sure it was running fine and had it ready for the President the day after. And run properly it did. Capone s car was a sight to behold. It had been painted black and green so as to look identical to Chicago s police cars at the time. It also had a specially installed siren and flashing lights hidden behind the grille, along with a police scanner radio. To top it off, the gangster s 1928 Cadillac 341A Town Sedan had 3,000 pounds of armor and inch-thick bulletproof windows. Mechanics are said to have cleaned and checked each feature of the Caddy well into the night of December 7th, to make sure that it would run properly the next day for the Commander in Chief. FDR had a snappy response when someone told him where his new car came from: I hope Mr. Capone won t mind.
