Traverse City needs a more organized and efficient way to manage public art. A merger that will link the visual arts communities in Petoskey and Traverse City is getting a 50- thousand boost from Rotary Charities of Traverse City. A poet and teacher at the Interlochen Center for the Arts has won a major fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts. The Detroit Tigers blew a lead late in the game today (Fri) and LOST to Baltimore seven to six. All through this year s baseball season, the Detroit Tigers bullpen struggled. Traverse City residents will have a chance tonight to weigh in on the future of the city s 111-year-old Carnegie Library building. Northern Michigan s economy is roaring back from the economic recession. The Suttons Bay Township Board unanimously approved a new law this week that s meant to encourage more affordable housing in the area. Look for parking meters at some downtown Traverse City beaches this summer. Reinforcements are on the way to help Traverse City clear snow from its sidewalks and trails. Another auction has been scheduled for Sugar Loaf, the shuttered ski resort in Leelanau County.
