Legends is an award winning dance club with the best lighting and sound in the Raleigh area, an outdoor patio, and a dedicated game room, all set in a relaxed atmosphere. This is a great way to stay in shape. We ride approximately two hours on mountain or hybrid bikes. We ride every Thursday (weather permitting). All riding abilities are welcome. The rides are usually followed up with some much needed refreshments and food at a local dining establishment. Location: Meet at the North Carolina Museum of Art parking lot adjacent to Blue Ridge Road, Raleigh. Meeting time: 5:30 p.m. Event Fee: No fee; but, please let the coordinator know in advance if you plan to attend. Coordinator: Paul Santrock 919/ psantrock@mindspring.com AUTUMN PARTY Saturday, October 17 #AD1509 Join us for a Saturday afternoon/evening full of lots of fun activities and other surprises! Come out to the home of Anna and Kurt and enjoy games, such as corn hole, badminton, bingo, poker, and blackjack. There will also be a dance floor for dancing, or you can relax by fishing (bring your own gear for catch and release of bass, crappie, brean and catfish), or sitting around the bonfire. Bring a pot luck dish to share and a lawn chair. BYOB, or bring beer or wine to share. NOTE: Rain date will be Sunday, October 18 Location: 3721 Koomen Lane, Raleigh Directions: Use GPS to locate Koomen Lane (located three miles south of REI in Cary where RSOC meetings are held). Koomen Lane dead ends at an old farm gate. There are three gravel roads on the other side of the gate. Take the middle road which veers left. Look for the small rock sign at the entrance of the gravel road. It has the house number and an arrow pointing to the right direction. The gravel road is also lined with crepe myrtle trees and it will dead end at their farm with a red house. call 919/ if you can t find it. A hash run is a running/ walking route marked with flour, shredded paper, or chalk which you will follow with rewards like beer, snacks, socializing, and entertainment. The trail could be through woods, subdivisions, fields, parks, etc. This will be a real hash run with the Sir Walters Hash House Harriers. We will have an easier route for walkers (turkey route) and a more challenging route (eagles). Our goal is to encourage you to join us again. Children are not allowed on this activity since it involves drinking, and there are sometimes crude comments, songs and other traditions. Location: Triangle area. 3 WILD TURKEY PADDLE Sunday, November 8 #AD1511 The River: Down-East Blackwater River The Black River is our goal by rotation; but the South, the Northeast Cape Fear, the Lumber, and Holly Shelter Creek will be kept in consideration. This is the time of year to find mistletoe hanging from branches above your head! Total paddling distance range is estimated 6-10 miles. Final arrangements by November 2. PLEASE NOTE: Due to the weather pattern that we have observed over the past three years, we have moved the date of the trip forward two weeks. (And, that puts the paddle before the November meeting.) Bring your own or rental canoe or kayak, partner, PFD s, water, lunch, and flat water paddling experience (or skilled partner). (The Cleopatra paddling stroke is popular on this trip.) A group visit to a local fish/steak house for supper is planned, but not mandatory. No walk-ons please. The trip capacity is limited and the Coordinator is not difficult to contact. This is a joint trip with the Carolina Canoe Club. Meeting Location: We will meet in the morning at the I-40 rest area near Benson, North Carolina. Start time: 8-9 a.m. (check with Coordinator) End time: Rarely before dark Event fee: None Maximum attendees: 25 Guests (per member) allowed: 3 Coordinator: Paul Mobus 919/ (home) 919/ (work) SUNDAY BIKE RIDES IN THE TRIANGLE #AD0906 Join your fellow club members for biking on various trails and roads in the Triangle. This is a group ride for the casual cyclist, and is a great way to stay in shape. Contact the Coordinators to have your name added to the contact list to receive weekly updates on the cycling route and time which will vary from week to week. We ride approximately two hours, and the goal is to ride each Sunday. The rides are usually followed up with some much needed refreshments and food at a local dining establishment. Location: We will ride a different route each Sunday. Please the Coordinators and get on the list for ride/ route information. Event Fee: No fee; but, please let the coordinator know in advance if you plan to attend. YOU MUST BE A MEMBER OF A CSC CLUB SUCH AS RSOC TO ATTEND. WHERE: Glenstone Lodge, 504 Historic Nature Trail, Gatlinburg, Tennessee. Toll free or (not toll free). $88 per night (excluding taxes) per room, 1-4 people per room. Call and make your own reservations be sure to say you are with the Crescent Ski Council Conference to get the special room rate. Rooms have a king bed or two queen beds. You can stay from Thursday, October 22 thru Monday, October 26, at the same low rate if you wish to enjoy the Smokies more. AMENITIES: Indoor pool with waterfall/whirlpool, WI-FI thru-out; in-room coffee-makers, refrigerators in many rooms; pavilion on LeConte Creek. Best buffet Smokey Mountain Breakfast in town with made-to-order waffles/ omelets; includes coffee/tea/juice. (Cost not included). COST: FREE when you come to have fun and take advantage of the learning opportunities. Workshops are included. Lunch are on your own. FUN STUFF: Hike in the Smokies on Saturday. Hosted and guided by Tom Cressler, Knoxville Ski & Outing Club. Indicate how many wish to participate for planning purposes. Hikers will meet about 10 a.m. in the Glenstone Lobby, and return about 3 pm. Pack your drinks and a lunch. Saturday Night Halloween Costume Party. Jimmy Buffett Concertless Tailgate Party #9 September 19, 2015 It was a perfect, sunny day for 125 Buffett Concertless partygoers (a record!) to enjoy their journey to the shrine of the parrot god, good friendship, and much laughter. Thanks to all who attended for making the party such a wonderful time, and for their contributions totaling $520 for the party s charity, The Umstead Coalition. Page 4 RSOC October 2015

Past participants can attest to the benefit of this type of program. If you have never tried it, you should; you will probably be pleasantly surprised. However, if you desire, the lesson portion may be deducted. Also, there are other deducts and adds, especially for teens and children. SIGN-UP: All applicants must be a member of a Crescent Ski Council affiliated club (such as RSOC) at the time of the trip to participate. Everyone must sign up directly with our travel agent, Sports America Tours (SAT) in Santa Rosa, California. SAT will require a filled-out and signed application form with payment is required to be confirmed onto the trip (see contact info below). If paying by check, make payable to SAT. Alternatively, online sign-up is available at: (Payment must be received within 15 days of online registration).
