As usual, our group jumped in and got a lot done with the usual bantering that goes on at these events. 4 Page 4 DUANE S WORLD By the time you get to read this, Santa has returned to the North Pole after working his one day a year. What a racket he has! The reindeer have been turned out to pasture to fatten up for the trip next year, and the Santa elves in the motor pool are busy vacuuming out all the cookie crumbs in the sled. Other elves are working to replace the sled runners, because with the shortage of snow, the old runners took a beating on the bare house roofs. Okay, Editor Duane, knock it off. This is getting a little weird! I want to apologize for getting this issue out a little late. A few days after Santa went back north, my computer took a nose dive. After several tries to fix it, it was off to the Geek Squad guys to see what they could do. They complimented me on getting the computer stuck royally and had to completely re-install my Windows program. Just got her back home a few hours ago and am going through all the hoops of getting the computer back the way I like it. They were able to save all my files to be re-loaded on to the new system, including the thousands of photos I have in my collection. I think the biggest hit I took was that I can t find my i-tunes program with 1200 of my golden oldies. I ll go back to the geeks to see if they can find it. Otherwise, I think I ll look for another way to store all my songs, as I have had problems with i-tunes before. If any of you, my faithful readers, have a favorite program for saving all of your favorite music, let me know. I m open to suggestions! Several years ago, I loaded all my i-tunes on an i-pod, and have been running it through the radio in Lil Darlin which sure beats the trash you find on the airwaves today. (The aforementioned opinion is strictly mine.) On Wednesday, January 16, the Southern Cruzers will hold their first meeting of New president, Jerry Forness will be at the helm, but the rest of the crew remains the same. Jerry is not really new. He just took a year off, and thanks to Ed Sanders for taking the club through this past year and doing it well! If you were there for the elections in 2017, you know that Ed was sort of railroaded into being president for But come to think of it, isn t that the way we do things around here? Ed took the job with good grace and humor. In my opinion, humor is a good way to approach many things in life, as it is way too serious out there! I also subscribe to the idea that belonging to a club like the Southern Cruzers should be fun, and we do our best to make it so. Also, at the next meeting, a discussion will be held on the future of the Summer Spectacular. We are trying to come up with ways to save some money, and yet, still put on a good show. This could involve moving to another venue and changing or adding some new car classes to attract more participants. If you have any opinions or ideas on this subject, please come to the meeting and let your wishes be known. A few weeks ago when Jerry Forness and I were presenting the TSS check to the autobody class at Dakota County Technical College, we were pleased to hear that one or two of the young students expressed an interest in attending one of our meetings to see what we are all about. If they happen to be at one of our meetings, make them feel at home as they are the future of our hobby. Wow, I have been working at this computer for over an hour, and it hasn t crashed yet. I may be on to something here! Or did I speak too soon? I m still looking for stories I can use in my garage scene article. If you are doing a project, big or small, this winter, give me a call, and I will come over with my trusty Box Brownie and get some photos. Personally, I m hoping that 2019 will be a little quieter. This past year was quite stressful. We were involved with 7 funerals, including some of our car friends, and we are still trying to get some loose ends taken care of in the move of my mother to a nursing care facility. She turned 97 a couple of weeks ago and is doing well. Let s hope that 2019 is a good one for you as well. See you out there somewhere! Happy New Year! DB

5 Cruz News Page 5 SOUTHERN CRUZER CAR CLUB MONTHLY MEETING MINUTES - No meeting in December OLD LOG THEATER - SUNDAY, DECEMBER 9, 2018 Over the last few months, Mother Nature has been very skimpy on how many nice, sunny days she has given us. She made up for it and gave us a clear, sunny day to take a bus ride out to the Old Log Theater. Photos by the editor TO OUR NEW MEMBER, TIM GEROLD, THANKS FOR THE RIDE! When we got to the bus staging area, the driver was wearing a fancy top hat. Later on in the day, it was revealed to us that Tim who drives for Richfield bus company secured the bus and donated the bus and his time for our trip to the Old Log. The club only ended up paying for fuel, a considerable savings! As a thank you to Tim, Tim Hanna was able to get a meal and theater tickets for our driver. Thanks again, Tim, for doing this. We hope you will enjoy your membership in our club. I personally think we have a pretty good bunch!

The third and largest check for $2500 was awarded to the automotive programs (auto body & auto mechanics) at Dakota County Technical College in Rosemount.

We, the Southern Cruzer Car Club, got a jump on him, several weeks ago, by giving three nice checks from the profits of the Summer Spectacular car show. The first check for $1500 was awarded to the Beyond the Yellow Ribbon, Apple Valley Chapter. The story on that can be found in last month s issue of the Cruz News. The second check given out this season was to the Eagan Open Door Food Shelf for the sum of $1000. The third and largest check for $2500 was awarded to the automotive programs (auto body & auto mechanics) at Dakota County Technical College in Rosemount.
