1 West End State School - Stage 1 The proposed new library and general learning facility to the West End State School has been undertaken in response to recent rapid urban growth within the West End precinct. The design intent has been to provide a cost effective new facility that will enhance learning opportunities with the provision of a new resource centre, 8 general learning areas, as well as the inclusion of 4 temporary learning facilities within the undercroft of the existing J block building. A focus on enhanced green play space has been also considered, resulting in an enhanced internal forecourt, new pool change room amenities and storage areas. Consideration of the heritage aspects across the site have influenced the final design proposal with colours and textures of the proposed finishes, reflective of existing finishes within the school precinct. A staged construction programme has been outlined by the builder ADCO constructions, that will aim to limit disruption to the existing services across the site where possible, and consider the safety of students, parents and staff at all times during the construction works.

4 Stage 1 - J Block EXISTING STAIR Temporary flexible learning and music room facilities will be provided to the existing undercroft of the J block building which overlooks the oval. A covered awning will be provided to a new external seating area. This awning will also overhang the adjacent ramped walkway within the forecourt area to provide EXISTING POOL additional covered play space for the students.
