2 MSRAL 2018 CONVENTION Registration is open for the Mid-States Region of the Astronomical League (MSRAL) convention. The convention will be held at Explore Scientific located at 1010 S. 48th Street, Springdale, Arkansas David H. Levy will be the special guest speaker for a Saturday evening Banquet. Additional guest speakers currently include Abbey Bollenbach, Don Ficken, Ken Ledbetter, Jeffrey Lichtman, Rick Marshall, Bruce McMath, Andy Poniros, Denis Svechkarev. Among the topics covered, there will be presentations on the Cassini Mission to Saturn, the Hubble Telescope, Video Astronomy, Science Advocacy & Youth Engagement, and Radio Astronomy with a hands on demonstration. Registration and Check-in begin at Explore Scientific Friday afternoon. Registration will continue at a Star Party and Youth Cosmic Scavenger Hunt at the Arkansas Hobbs State Park. An optional evening meal will be available for purchase at this event. Saturday morning begins with a complementary, continental breakfast for registrants and continues with the MSRAL meeting and a full day of presentations. There will be a lunch break at the noon hour. Attendees can optionally purchase a box lunch to be served on site. Saturday evening, the banquet will be held on the campus of the Northwest Arkansas Community College in Bentonville, Arkansas. After the banquet, enjoy Sidewalk Astronomy and a tour of the Giant Telescope. The Giant Telescope is a Relocation /Restoration Project of a 1911, 24-inch, telescope at a nearby location. Sunday also begins with a complementary, continental breakfast for registrants. Presentations continue, plus the grand prize, before the closing remarks at noon.
