2 January 12, 2019 To: All Commodores, FCYC Officers, Directors and Alternate Directors, Managers of FCYC Member Clubs The Board of Governors and Members of the Eau Gallie Yacht Club are pleased to host the Change of Watch of the Florida Council of Yacht Clubs on March 8 th, 9 th, and 10 th, A weekend filled with activities, entertainment and dining is planned. We encourage you to arrive early and stay late, while enjoying your time with other Council Clubs members and our EGYC host club members. The registration and information table will be set up in the foyer of our Club from Friday, March 8 th at 11:00 AM until 6:00 PM and again on Saturday, March 9 th from 9:00 AM until Noon. Join us at our Friday night social event outside on the Terrace with cocktails at 6:00 PM, followed by a Shrimp & Suds Buffet with music and dancing and free beer during the buffet hours, 7 p.m.-8:30 p.m. The cost is $34++ per person. Dress is Yacht Club Casual. On Saturday morning we ve scheduled an exciting presentation by NASA s George Haddad in the Trophy Room. Space is limited, so please, reserve early. See the flyer for more details on Mr. Haddad s presentation. All FCYC attendees are welcome to the buffet lunch, at noon, priced at $ per person. Saturday evening highlights the Change of Watch ceremony, followed by a fabulous dinner and a stunning show by Street Talk. The cost of this delightful evening is $ per person. Dress is Service Dress or Cocktail Attire. The weekend finishes with a complementary Continental Breakfast served from 8:00 AM to 9:30 AM. Our Sunday Brunch starts at 11:00 AM; the cost for Brunch is $ per person. We have limited dockage space available for those desiring to come by boat. Slip reservations must be submitted on the enclosed form to ensure proper arrangements. 5 Join us, at EGYC, 10 AM, for an amazing Saturn-day (Saturday) presentation as we welcome George Haddad, NASA Aerospace Engineer, and official presenter. George will share his work on the space mission sent to examine Saturn and its moons, known as the Cassini Mission. He will also share information on some of NASA s future projects. George is an Aerospace Engineer/ Project Manager at NASA Glenn Research Center (GRC) and Kennedy Space Center (KSC). He has over 30 years of work experience on major programs/project at NASA. George worked on the Space Shuttle Program early in his career, then the Expandable Launch Vehicle Program (ELV), the International Space Station Program (ISS), the Constellation Program, and the Exploration Program. Currently he is managing projects for the Space Communication and Navigation Program (SCaN). The highlights of his career are the installation of a new radar station at KSC, the launch of Hubble Space Telescope on the Shuttle, and the launch of NASA s major scientific and planetary space missions such as the Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO), the GOES series of weather satellites, the Cassini Mission, the STEREO mission, and the Gravity Probe B mission. George has a master s degree in Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering from the University of Central Florida. He is fluent in foreign languages (French and Arabic/Lebanese) and lives in Melbourne, Florida. George and his wife have three grown young men, among them a Navy Sailor on the USS Nimitz. 7 FCYC Change of Watch Eau Gallie Yacht Club March 8, 9, 10, 2019 Directions Directions by Car EAU GALLIE YACHT CLUB Datura Drive Indian Harbour Beach, FL From Interstate 95 (exit 183) or U.S. 1, head east on Eau Gallie Boulevard (State Route 518), and cross the Eau Gallie Causeway bridge. Turn left on South Patrick Drive, which is the first traffic light (State Route 513), and proceed north for about 1/2 mile. The EGYC sign will be on the left before the next traffic light intersection. Turn left on Datura Drive and follow the road around to the clubhouse entrance.
