3 YOUR INVITATION TO THE 2018 ANNUAL CONVOCATION Dear Companions, I have much pleasure in extending a very warm invitation to all Royal Arch Companions, their wives and families, and to the Delegations from overseas and the Heads of other Masonic Orders, to the 126th Grand Convocation of the Supreme Grand Royal Arch Chapter of New Zealand. To be held on the Friday, 2nd March to Sunday, 4th March, The Grand Convocation will take place in the Energy Capital of New Zealand, New Plymouth, Taranaki, The Grand Installation will be held in the Devon Hotel Convention Centre on Saturday, 3rd March All other functions will also be held there. 4 ACCOMMODATION Visitors from outside New Plymouth will need to make their own accommodation arrangements for their stay in New Plymouth during the Convocation. As this event is centred around The Devon Hotel and its convention facilities, you may wish to avail yourself of the special room rate they are offered to attendees of $160 for two people per night. Alternatively there are a number of other fine hotels and motels available near the convocation venue including The Auto Lodge opposite and the Novatel Hotel (which might suit Accor card holders) is but a short walk away. 5 NEW PLYMOUTH New Plymouth has much to offer the visitor and we hope that during your stay you will find time to explore some of New Plymouth s wonderful sights and attractions such as: Len Lye Centre Pukekura Park Puke Ariki Govett-Brewster Art Gallery Paritutu Brooklands Park Sugar Loaf Islands Marine Park Taranaki Cathedral Church of St Mary For those of you that enjoy a moment to quietly reflect on life, or the simple pleasure of a gentle stroll and chatting with old and new friends, then a walk along the Coastal Walkway or through Brooklands Park could be just what the doctor ordered. The galleries and museum can provide a delightful light distraction from the pressures of the day and perhaps shelter from a passing cloud or two. Pause for a coffee or tea at one of the many cafes dotted around town. When the day ends you can choose from many first class eateries to relax with friends and reflect on the events of the day over a meal to suit the occcasion. Whatever you choose to do we hope that your stay with us in New Plymouth will prove to be one which you will remember with affection for many years to come. If you require transport please ensure you record your flight/coach details including arrival and departure dates and times when you register. Transport for the tours and outings will leave from, and return to, the Devon Hotel at the times indicated on the programme. Sorry, but we are unable to arrange pick-up or drop-off at any other location. TOURS FOR LADIES AND VISITORS We have organised a very interesting and exciting tour for ladies and guest not involve in the masonic activities on Saturday. More details to follow. Another more casual tour of some of New Plymouths sights is being arranged for Sunday which will be concluded plenty of time for visitors to easily return to their homes in NZ.
