1 E.A.S.A Western Chapter Annual General Meeting Waterton Park, Alberta September 29 th, Executive Attendee s: President Rene Robertson (SMS Equipment Port Coquitlam) Meeting was called to order at 8:15 AM Vice President Mel Hitchings (GMR Electric Saskatoon) Treasurer David Thorne (Flanders Electric Edmonton) Secretary Danielle Sanmartin (Andarr Industries Inc. Edmonton) Quorum Established with 11 representatives with 7 companies present. (Quorum is established with ten percent of chapter members present) Reading of the 2011 AGM Minutes held in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan on September 17 th, 2011 Read By Danielle Sanmartin (Andarr Industries Inc.) No errors or omissions Motion* to accept the minutes as read: Dwayne Graham (Southern Rewind) Seconded By: Kelly McKee (Tisdale Motor Rewind) Motion Carried. Presidents Report: Rene Robertson (SMS Equipment Port Coquitlam) Informed us of the EMST (Electric Motor Service Technician) status in B.C. (RE: The September 2011 surprise deactivation by the ITA of the trade) There was an RTO meeting in June 2012 recommending the reactivation to ITA in Port Coquitlam, British Columbia and the minutes from that minute were read by Rene. Membership update Our current chapter is down five members from 77 last year. Those include Turbocare in Edmonton (closed), Winfield Industrial Sales in Hinton, AB, R.L Electric Motor Rewinding in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Rio Tinto Alcan in Kitimat British Columbia, and Boundary Electric Motor Pump and Sales in Edmonton, Alberta. There were two Vancouver zone meetings held within the year (November 11, 2011 and June 12 th, 2012) The 2012 International convention in Nashville, TN was well attended with 2700 registrants. 1 P age

2 (Presidents report Continued) Reminds us that our Affiliate Membership information is still available and that Dave Thorne has all application forms. Asks all of us to keep in mind companies who may be interested in becoming Western Canada Affiliate members. Has asked distributors to especially spread the word, and maybe set something up on our social networking sites for member information and updates. (example: LinkedIn) Vice Presidents Report: Mel Hitchings (GMR Electric) No new business to report Thanks Dwayne and Carol Graham for all their hard work in being this year s local coordinator No motion Required Treasurer`s Report: Dave Thorne (Flanders Electric) Projected well at maintaining assets in Waterton Park, Alberta Bank account has finally been sorted out. After some headaches the banking was now transferred and is now assessable in Edmonton, Alberta. All signing authorities have been changed, and there is talk about adding on another signatory so future problems will be nonexistent. Treasurer s report will be available to members on line, and with 2012 minutes. Current assets March 27 th, 2012 were $ Thanks Dwayne from Southern Rewind again, in helping with covering any immediate charges pertaining to our AGM. Awaiting any further financial correspondence that needs to be picked up from the Continental Electric office in Edmonton, and the most current report should be completed. No motion required Secretary Report: Danielle Sanmartin (Andarr Industries Inc.) Received a letter from SAIT thanking EASA western chapter for our sponsorship of the Elliot Creelman Award. Elliot Creelman Award: Awarded to Darcy Brown for the term. Darcy is a student of the Electrical Motor Systems Tech Program at SAIT. We have no further information at this time to where Darcy is located or who he is apprenticing for. 2 P age

3 Reports from Committees Old Business: There are no committee reports at this time. We are still looking for Volumes 1 & 2 technical SAIT Training. They have not been returned from the meeting in (Victoria, British Columbia) Suggestion of ordering replacements has been made, since no one knows where the original books went. New Business: We are due for Chapter officer elections. No new nominations from the floor. Current executive is willing to stand for another term. Current executive to stay in position for new term Motion: Larry Bowler Bowtin Industries Seconded: Steve Garnell Flanders Canada All in Favor Motion put through unanimously. Rene thanks everyone for their support and their letters that were used to support the reactivation of our EMST program. Trade has been reinstated Meeting suggestion by Kelly McKee at Tisdale Motor is Kelowna, British Columbia. Location was supported unanimously. (Flights are easy, wine tours etc.) EMPS in Kelowna (Robert Graton and Cory Lim) will be called to see if they can help be our local coordinators. Third weekend in September is still preferred by most members. Announcements: Thank you to Tom Bishop for presenting the two EASA Seminars; Electrical Testing of Three Phase motors and Root Cause: Stators and Rotors. Thank you to Dwayne and Carol Graham of Southern Rewind for all their work in the booking of the hotel, organizing the meals, and the purchase of some excellent welcome gifts.
