1 Pilot Taining Opeations Manual APPENDIX G ERATOR AND TYPE RATING PROFIIENY HEKS EU-S/FL ombined Opeato Poficiency () and Type Rating heck (LP). Intoduction The instument ating equiements ae met by completion, evey months, of the type ating poficiency check, efeed to as the LP standing fo Licence Poficiency heck. This makes the instument ating type specific/multi-pilot aeoplanes and is not valid fo opeations in single pilot aeoplanes. The Opeato Poficiency heck () is enewed evey 6 months and will be combined with the LP evey months. Low visibility opeations ae included in the evey 6 months. Notable changes fom the old IR test fomat ae the inclusion of a ejected take-off, adheence to depatue and aival outes as opposed to a fomal aiways oute, and an all engines opeating non-pecision appoach which could be NDB, VOR o LO and may be flown using the autopilot. The cicling appoach is tested duing the initial type convesion (fom LST) and theeafte as a thee-yealy item. Whilst many of the test elements equie flight in IM, icing conditions ae not mandatoy fo the /LP but may be included as may a holding patten which could be flown using the autopilot and FMS. As fa as is pacticable, the check will be conducted as a line oientated flight. Peiods of validity ae as follows: is valid fo six months fom the end of the month of issue. The LP is valid fo months fom the end of the month of issue. If these checks ae evalidated within the last 3 months of thei validity, the new validity peiod uns fom the expiy date of the old validity peiod. Note: The initial type ating LST is only valid fo months less one day but this may be extended to the end of the month in conjunction with a valid ORS issued by the UK AA.. Pupose of the /LP The equiement is to show the ability to act as pilot flying in a multi-cew envionment in I.M.. and to demonstate competence in caying out nomal, abnomal and emegency pocedues in a simulated commecial ai tanspot envionment unde I.F.R..3 Responsibilities The candidate will be the pilot flying (P) in a multi-cew envionment with anothe pilot acting as pilot not flying (P). If an aeoplane, athe than a simulato, is used fo the check, the second pilot shall be an instucto/examine. The flight will be conducted in accodance with the Opeations Manual. The candidate s ole will be that fo the seat he nomally occupies. In the case of a co-pilot undegoing check, it will be assumed that the aeoplane commande has delegated esponsibility fo the flight to the co-pilot. The candidate is esponsible fo the following: Opeation of the aeoplane within its limitations in such a manne that the successful outcome of a pocedue o manoeuve is neve in doubt. Failue in moe than five items will equie the pilot to take the entie test/check again. Any pilot failing not moe than five items shall take the failed items again. Failue in any item of the e-test/e-check including those items that have been passed at a pevious attempt will equie the pilot to take the entie test/check again. Futhe taining may be equied afte a failed test/check. Failue to achieve a valid pass in all items in two attempts shall equie futhe taining as detemined by the examine..5 Schedule of items in ombined /LP Pe-flight checks. Rejected take-off. The pupose of the LOFT execise is to allow the cew to cay out a outine line flight, without inteuption fom the instucto, duing which time they will have to deal with vaious situations. The instucto will povide all necessay biefing mateial and will pefom all the AT and cabin cew functions. It is impotant that the execise is teated as a nomal flight in ode that maximum value can be achieved. Duing de-bief the cew will be expected to paticipate in an evaluation of thei pefomance. It is impotant to ealise that thee may be moe than one way of achieving a successful outcome to the flight. This type of flight can povide valuable lessons to all, paticulaly in the analysis of the decision making pocess and cew hamonisation.. Technical Refeshe Taining Knowledge of the gound and efeshe taining shall be veified by a questionnaie o othe suitable method. On each occasion that a pilot is osteed fo a LP he will complete a technical/opeational/ SEP questionnaie using the LMS/BT, in time to pesent the completion cetificates to the taining captain at the time of the check flight. 5 Pilot Taining Opeations Manual. ombined /LP and Notes to Examines The schedule at.3 shows the content of each check and how to combine them in a sequence that avoids duplication. The sequence is appopiate to simulato checks and TRE s may vay the sequence of events to achieve specific taining/checking objectives. In the simulato, use of aibone epositioning should be kept to a minimum commensuate with time constaints and whee possible the check should be un in eal time. Notes ae included to povide guidance when an aeoplane is used. The LP will aely be conducted as a stand-alone check, except pehaps fo Authoity Inspectos, and moe nomally it will be combined evey months with the. In addition to the check content, a futhe equiement fo evalidation of the LP is that the candidate has completed at least ten oute sectos as pilot of the elevant type o one oute secto with an examine. A oute secto is defined as a flight compising take-off, depatue, and cuise of not less than 5 minutes, aival, appoach and landing phases. At the 6 month point an will be conducted. Refeshe taining foms pat of the equiement whethe o not the check is conducted in a simulato o on the aeoplane. This efeshe taining is ecoded on Foms. JAR-S pemits the combination of aeoplane/simulato taining and. Automatics may be used when not specifically excluded (eg item 0a/b). Howeve, when the MEL pemits despatch of the aeoplane with automatic equipment unseviceable manual pocedues should be pactised. To ensue that both manual and automatic pocedues ae pactised, the use of automatics should be combined with non-nomal opeation of the aeoplane. This extact fom FODOM-0/99 will be intepeted as follows: Items 4 8 may employ the use of automatics if pemitted by the aeoplane flight manual limitations section. Items 9 4 will be manually handled, but automatics may be used at times to assist duing malfunction diagnosis and action and appoach biefing. Duing LOFT execises automatics may be used to the extent pemitted by the AFM limitations section. Poficiency checks in a simulato must be conducted by a TRE/SFE and on an aeoplane by a TRE.. When the only is conducted in an aicaft, the sequence may be amended to items 9, 0a, 0b, 7,, (with item 7 flown manually, engine out), plus items, 3, 4 fo commandes. 7 .4 LP/ Simulato Taining & heck Elements - Thee Yea ycle Pilot Taining Opeations Manual The FTM in liaison with the TRE aptains will constuct LOFT based taining and check scenaios containing the elements listed below as appopiate to thei aeoplane type.
