2 THE AVIATION TEAM Jim Morris Partner & Barrister Head of the Aviation Team Mobile +44 (0) Stephen Walker Legal Director Mobile +44 (0) Jim specialises in representing the victims of international air accidents. He was a professionally qualified Royal Air Force pilot prior to becoming an aviation lawyer, and has over 26 years experience in aviation and litigation. During Jim s 12 years as a pilot, he was qualified on a number of military aircraft (single piston, single turbo prop, fast jet, twin turbo prop, heavy jet) and his last flying tour was on the Boeing E-3D AWACS. He received specialist training in aviation accident analysis and crew resource management, to become a Squadron Flight Safety Officer. He also was a flying display coordinator for the RAF Waddington International Air Show. In 2002 Jim transferred to the RAF Legal Branch and qualified as a barrister. As trial counsel, he prosecuted Court Martial jury trials, with a focus on trials involving military aviation litigation. Following his retirement from the RAF, Jim specialised in representing the victims of aviation disasters. He has represented hundreds of passengers/families in many aviation disasters worldwide involving many types of aircraft, from single engine light aircraft accidents to major airline disasters. He has significant experience in litigating cases in the US and many other jurisdictions, including,, Ireland, France, Nigeria and Pakistan. As a barrister, he is also a specialist advocate for families at aviation disaster inquests. Stephen is a Legal Director in the Aviation Team. He has dealt with a wide range of civil litigation matters over the past 28 years. He advises private individuals, sole traders and small/medium enterprises in relation to civil litigation matters including misrepresentation/ estoppel, breach of contract, defamation, debt recovery, professional negligence and high value personal injury cases. Prior to joining Ashfords, Stephen worked for the TSB Group specialising in lease finance for national car dealerships and big ticket items such as aircraft. He has been described by the Legal 500 as reliable and providing a high quality service and excellent value for money. Stephen s experience includes acting for a client struck by the propellers of a light aircraft in an aircraft hangar who suffered life threatening and life changing injuries and recovering very substantial damages on his behalf from the owner of the light aircraft, acting for a cleaner following the landing of an airliner who suffered a serious back injury slipping on food left in an aisle; and acting on an ongoing basis for a number of clients in the Court of Protection who have received multi-million pound settlements.
