3 Virtual Ryal Air Frce Purpse This Letter f Agreement between VATSIM Italy (VATITA) and virtual Ryal Air Frce (vraf) is t establish perating plicies and prcedures fr Exercise Spring Flag Establishes Prvisin fr usage f dedicated Special Use Airspace within the Rme FIR/UIR during Exercise Spring Flag Intrductin Spring Flag is an air cmbat and grund attack exercise based frm Decimmannu Airbase n Sardinia. This LOA has been develped t establish prcedures fr these exercises. Cancellatin This LOA will remain in effect until replaced by a revisin that has been mutually agreed upn by bth parties, r until it is cancelled by either party, with a minimum f thirty (30) days ntice prvided. 4 Virtual Ryal Air Frce Prvisin fr usage f Special Use Airspace within the Rme FIR/UIR In accrdance with applicable VATSIM and VATSIM Special Operatins Administratin plicies, this dcument establishes prcedures fr the use f the belw listed Aerdrmes and anntated Special Use Airspace (SUA) between VATITA, herein The Cntrlling Agency, and the virtual Ryal Air Frce (vraf), herein The Using Agency : The Fllwing SUAs (Lcatins indicated n chart at Appendix A) Danger Area LID040A Danger Area LID040B Danger Area LID114A Danger Area LID114B Restricted Area LIR39 Restricted Area LIR59 Restricted Area LIR110 AAR Crridr Alpha Planned squawk cde and frequencies Fr ease f identifying traffic invlved in peratins, a blck f squawk cdes has been set aside. Exercise aircraft: All aircraft will be required t cntact the apprpriate civil ATC authrity where applicable. Whilst perating within the exercise areas, aircraft must maintain radi cntact with the exercise cmmander r any AWACS aircraft via a discrete frequency. Shuld a nn-participating aircraft nt be able t remain clear, this must be passed t the exercise cmmander / AWACS aircraft immediately. Any aircraft wishing t transit between exercise areas thrugh cntrlled airspace must be pre-crdinated by the exercise cmmander /AWACS and, where requested, must establish cntact with the civil cntrller. 5 Virtual Ryal Air Frce The cntrlling agency is the wner f the referenced SUA and cntrlling authrity fr the listed aerdrmes 2. The cntrlling authrity shall grant temprary unrestricted use f the referenced SUA t the using agency fr the purpses f cnducting tactical military flight peratins 3. The using agency will reserve use f the SUA by prviding ntificatin t the cntrlling agency f intended dates and times f usage. This ntificatin will be made t directr@vatita.net a minimum f 7 days befre the intended use f the SUA. 4. During the dates and times when the airspace is in use by the using agency and when military aircraft are present, ATC will issue clearances t divert civilian IFR traffic clear f the active SUA, unless the flight has been c-rdinated with the Cntrlling AWACS/Exercise Cmmander, if this is the case the aircraft will be cleared t crss the SUA and restrictins may be placed n any nging military activity within the SUA until the crssing traffic is clear. 5. The Using Agency may prvide Range Cntrl, prvided by vraf GCI, t prvide advisry services fr participating aircraft within the active SUA. Range Cntrl will als mnitr the airspace fr civilian traffic and advise participating aircraft t cease tactical peratins until the area is clear. 6. Aircraft perating within the SUA are cnsidered under MARSA * rules at any time within the SUA. ATC will nt prvide IFR services t military aircraft perating under MARSA * prcedures. 7. N Fast Jet aircraft belnging t the using agency will be permitted t enter any Cntrlled Airspace withut prir permissin frm the cntrller respnsible fr that airspace, r, if a cntrller is nt nline, prir annuncement n UNICOM. 8. It is recgnized that certain training peratins and training aircraft require high speeds. At n time will military aircraft exceed Mach Crews cnducting flights within the SUAs will maintain radi cmmunicatin with an apprpriate cntrlling agency and/r AWACS. 10. Flight plans f crews participating in the exercise will cntain the remark OPR/vRAF BRITMIL/EX SPRING FLAG.
