BEING GREEN AT AJ2019 It's important to be conscious of the environment while we are Scouting, through reducing waste, caring for plants and animals, learning about the environment, thinking global

How we are being environmentally friendly at AJ2019? Here's just some of the ways that the Jamboree is being environmentally conscious.

Utilising bicycles (or walking!) instead of lots of golf buggies. Producing the Official AJ2019 Merchandise from locally sourced materials and supporting South Australian businesses.

2 BEING GREEN AT AJ2019 It's important to be conscious of the environment while we are Scouting, through reducing waste, caring for plants and animals, learning about the environment, thinking global and acting locally, conserving resources. With such a large event, we need to ensure that we minimise our environmental impact in our planning and execution of the Jamboree. How we are being environmentally friendly at AJ2019? Here's just some of the ways that the Jamboree is being environmentally conscious... Sourcing equipment from local businesses, reducing transport distance. Ordering food in the required amounts, reducing food wastage, with the ability to return unused food items. Utilising bicycles (or walking!) instead of lots of golf buggies. Producing the Official AJ2019 Merchandise from locally sourced materials and supporting South Australian businesses. Recycling items that can be recycled, including 10c deposit drink containers. Environmental Activities in our Jamboree Program. Saving paper by using digital admin systems. How can you be environmentally friendly at AJ2019? Don't waste food - even if watermelon bowling is great fun! Keep to the marked tracks around the site, and off-site. Have short showers - but please do actually shower! Don't litter, use the provided rubbish and recycling bins. By working together, we'll ensure that we do our best to reduce our environmental impact and care for the environment. AJ2019 2

SUBCAMPS NAMES AND THEMES At AJ2019, your troop will be staying with a lot of other troops in a 'Subcamp'.

You'll be finding out your subcamp and troop number soon from your contingent.

Here are the AJ2019 Subcamp Names & Themes: (Explorer, Region, Animal, Colour) Flinders - Ocean - Orca

Penguin - Yellow Burke & Wills (Venturers) - Desert - Lizard - Orange Leader Subcamp - TBA Each Subcamp

3 SUBCAMPS NAMES AND THEMES At AJ2019, your troop will be staying with a lot of other troops in a 'Subcamp'. There are six Subcamps, four for Scout Troops, a Venturer Subcamp and a Service Leader Subcamp. You'll be finding out your subcamp and troop number soon from your contingent. Each Subcamp's name is an Australian Explorer, and has a region, animal mascot, and a colour. Here are the AJ2019 Subcamp Names & Themes: (Explorer, Region, Animal, Colour) Flinders - Ocean - Orca Whale - Blue Sturt - River - Cod - Red Strzelecki - Mountain - Thylacine - Green Mawson - Antarctic - Penguin - Yellow Burke & Wills (Venturers) - Desert - Lizard - Orange Leader Subcamp - TBA Each Subcamp will also have a badge, so don't forget to collect them all! Once you find out your Subcamp, you and your troop can start planning your troop's theme and gateway. AJ2019 3

4 EXTRA COST ACTIVITIES AJ2019 is offering two extra cost activities to opt-in to while you're at Jamboree. The extra cost activities are: GLIDING - $120 RACING - $50 These two high adrenaline activities are based onsite at The Bend Motorsport Park, at the onsite airfield and the onsite racing circuit. If you'd wish, you may opt-in to one of the extra cost activities through your online event application - Conditions and restrictions apply to these activities, please refer to and the application system for further details. GLIDING EVER WANTED TO FLY A GLIDER? The JAMBO-AIR team at AJ2019 is offering flights in 2-seater (side-by-side) motorised gliders. Our pilot will handle the take-off and landing, but during the flight you will have the opportunity to take over the controls of the aircraft, and fly it yourself. The pilot will provide instruction on controlling the aircraft during the 20-minute flight. We encourage you to have a go at this, but if you decide that you don t like it, our pilots are always more than happy to fly. With the airfield on-site, you will have the opportunity to see the Jamboree camp site, and surroundings, from the air. AJ2019 4

All the drivers are CAMS licenced and many have championship trophies to prove how quick they are. So... Helmet on, Harness in, ready?

Join us at The Bend Motorsport Park during the Jamboree to get on track as a passenger with our team of highly experienced drivers. All the drivers are CAMS licenced and many have championship trophies to prove how quick they are. So... 6 ALLAWAH MALL The Jamboree has a Mall, where you can hang out with friends, do activities, learn things, buy merchandise and food, be entertained, swap badges, and more! Our Mall at AJ2019 is called the Allawah Mall. Allawah is an indigenous word meaning "stay here, rest, sit down". Here are some of the things you'll find in the Mall at AJ2019: Live Entertainment Radio Station Performing Arts Activities Food Outlets Internet Cafe Post Office Phones (if you really want to call home!) Official AJ2019 Merchandise Store Scout Outdoor Centre Media Centre - drop off your great photos Indigenous Activities Contingent Activities and Stores There will be a heap of entertainment, activities, shops, shade, ice cream, and chill out areas in the Mall to keep you entertained when you're not on activities. Each day the Mall will have a cool new theme, so make sure you check it out daily! Most Contingents have an area for you to drop into, have a rest, play some games, buy some badges, and maybe even free food! You'll be able to send mail, either snail mail though the post office, or s in the Internet Cafe. Or drop in your best photos and submissions for the JNN Daily, the Jamboree's daily newspaper.
