A short pleasant walk for those who like chat. Pace will be slow. Rain does not cancel ANNIVERSARY HIKE - LIONS HEAD Climb the p of Lion's Head. Great views and champagne at the p! CONSTANTIA GREENBELT VETERANS AND OLD CROCK'S HIKE We will shuffle some cars Constantia Nek. Even if you are not and old crock you are welcome join this slow and casual shaded and sheltered stroll. Let's see some of our ex members, retired members and veterans. If this walk is successful we will plan another 'ama crocker' hike. Bring refreshments and lunch. After the hike we will visit the 'new' Alphen Hotel for either tea and cake, or a refreshing drink. Bring cash and sandals or shoes change in. Overnight at either the Sne cottage or Eagles Nest above McGregor that night.. Returning via the same route on. Ascend via rock scramble the skyline and continue up and over rock ridges teaspot with a view! some more downs and ups before winding back the Neck. Visirs and newcomers route consult leader in advance. ROCK HOPPER Starting at Eerste Tol, a long, strenuous day of rockhopping down the Witte river from the p of Bain's Kloof Tweede Tol. Lots of swimming and beautiful scenery along the way. Must be an experienced boulder hopper and have no knee or ankle problems. Bring your Wild Card or R30. Phone book: or SILVERMINE - OLD WAGON ROAD We will do this trail in reverse as the entrance from Oukaapseweg has been obliterated. So you with keen eyes come and help find it. Bring water, eats and R5 for car guard. Hike down the Old Wagon Road ('ou wa pad'). Return via Silvermine Valley and the waterfall. OORHANGBERG AND SKOORSTEENBERG PRICE DRIVE- VLAKKENBERG- HOERIKWAGGO PATH- OORHANGBERG SCRAMBLE- SKOORSTEUNBERG- BACK TO PRICE DRIVE 7 HR HIKE WITH 500 METRE GRADIENT Please note this is a fit, difficult hike requiring energy,bundubashing and off path scrambling using both hands and feet get Oorhangberg. Please, no slowcoatches. Having said all this the view looking from Oorhangberg wards Hout Bay is exceptional and worth every bit of the effort. Wear leggings or long pants prevent scratches. Refer my pho of Oorhangberg in our hike update. KLEINMOND WEEKEND Easter weekend at Kleinmond, from 6th April Monday 9th April We have rented a large, fully self-contained house with adjoining flatlet for the Easter weekend which sleeps 14 algether. The cost for the weekend is R370 per person which includes a small amount for wood and charka for 3 nights as well as a cleaning fee. Things keep you occupied: Average R30 R40 Distance: 12km Distance: 11km R370 R Hike the full 23km Kogelberg trail for those who are keen - will definitely be doing this, a long time since the club has done it Walk along the beautiful coastal path the mouth of the Palmiet river Stroll down the harbour and browse in the village shops Hike along the Palmiet river Visit the Harold Porter botanical garden Visit Bettys bay In fact there are endless things do in this area. Not far travel so no traffic worries either! If you would like add your name the list please contact at , cell or at bs.ford@iburst.co.za 14/04/ /04/2012 Derrick Robinson :00 SILVERMINE - KLEIN-TUINKOP FROM SUNBIRD CENTRE We will start at the Sunbird Centre and hike up the Silvermine Valley via the Crassula Path the sculptured rocks area and Kleintuin Kop. We will return down Arthurs Path the cars PULPIT ROCK Hike up Silverstream along the conur path Pulpit Rock. We will return Kloofnek along the paths below Tafelberg Road Average 2

Around the reservoir along the road on a path wards Bokkop back car park. Bring Wild Card+ID or entrance fee 'NOT WOODY" BUTRESS This is a new, exciting route for the Trails Club! Exciting rockscramble up CampsBay side of T.Mountain, in vicinity of Wood Butress but a separate route. Get grips with our local rock and be rewarded by camera-essential views. A very interesting, varied route with lots of rock scrambling. Lunch on p; descent via Woody Ravine. Prepare for a full day with enough lunch and water, etc. Visirs and those unsure pls discuss with Nerina in advance.phone for meeting place. Rain cancels. TABLE MOUNTAIN SLEEPOVER Ever thought you would like sleep on p of Table Mountain? Well here is your chance. I have booked the cottage up near De Villiers Dam, it sleeps 10 and has both gas and solar power and also big lounge/dining area with open fireplace. Kitchen is fully equipped. I will have arrange for us park cars in Orange Kloof as I don't think anybody will want leave their cars unattended in the Constantia Nek area for 2 nights. This means we will have walk from Orange Kloof up the Bridle Path (Cement Road) get the p. I think this is actually an added bonus for us. Bring food for two nights. Bedding and portage are included so no sleeping bags are needed. You will find the Clubs banking details at the end of every schedule. First come first served for this amazing weekend on p of the mountain. Cell: OLD CROCKS HIKE OPPELSKOP Hike from Rhodes Memorial up Kings Blockhouse, along the conur path and then up Oppelskop for tea. Return the same route. Rain cancels SOLOLE CIRCUIT Hike along the vlakte behind Da Gama Park and up Rooikrans. Good panorama over Noordhoek - Kommetjie ORANGE FACE TRAVERSE TO TABLE MOUNTAIN BACK TABLE This is an adventurous fit hike and because I have only done it once is partially a recci hike. The hike across the Orange Face is without a path and will require a bit of easy 'B' grade scrambling requiring hands and feet. The views of Orange Kloof are outstanding. We will hike up the Bridle Path past the Overseer's Hut and at the dams turn left in The Magic Forest, ultimately climbing up Orange Face. We will hike across the p and descend back down on Table Mountain Backface. All those hikers who complain we don't do anything different must sp complaining if they don't do this. Cell ELSIE'S PEAK VIA BRAKKLOOF We will start from Risi Road and climb up the Brakkloof Ridge and hike along the ridge which has been cleared of alien vegetation with good views of Fish Hoek, Noordhoek and Glencairn. After reaching Elsies Peak we will descend in Fish Hoek R660 R

Car park at the pay gate Hoerikwaggo area near the dam River Club Start Time: 14:30 Meet at the gate off Theresa Avenue at 14:30 Platteklip Cecilia Forest CONSTANTIA NEK TO EAST FORT VIA VLAKKENBERG Shuttle some cars East Fort before we set off climb Vlakkenberg. Great views over Hout Bay as we follow the Hoerikwaggo route. Early lunch before we head down the old fort on Chapmans Peak drive below. BEAVERLAC Drive up on the 18th, 250 Km the best camp site in the Western Cape with swimming, fantastic views, waterfalls, starry nights, good braai's and a on site shop that sells wine and meat- What more can you ask for? The "road" for the last 1km is a bit rough so if you have a fancy car beware. Phone Robin for directions and more information. SILVERMINE - SPITZKOP Hike from the carpark in a circuit including Spitzkop and the surrounding area IAN COWBURN MEMORIAL HIKE Hike along Steenberg Ridge Tokai fire lookout. Then up Constantiaberg the TV wer. Down Blackburn and along the Panorama path Noordhoek Peak and along the Amphitheatre Path and returning the cars. This is a full day hike which may be shortened depending on the weather. Bring your Wild Card or R15 entrance fee. Phone at or SILVERMINE - BLOKHUISKOP Walk from the car park up the path Klein-tuinkop then turn off the right. This time we will explore in the other direction. So a bit of a recce hike. Suggest wearing long pants as it was a bit scratchy last time. Bring water, eats and R5 for car guard. PERDEKOP - FRANSCHHOEK A lovely hike in this beautiful area. Phone for details SLANGOLIE CAVE A pleasant walk from Camps Bay (Theresa Ave) along the last bit of the Pipe-track the cave on Slangolie Buttress for tea returning the same way SIMONSTOWN - SMITWINKEL TRAVERSE A steep ascent Swartkop, followed by a high level traverse with stunning views of False Bay and the Atlantic. Steep descent Smitwinkel Bay. Car shuffle required. Please phone convenor before the end booking date. OPPELSKOP Circular walk starting on Tafelberg road. Climb up the Saddle Saddle Rock on Oppelskop, and down and around back the cars along the lower conur path. HOERIKWAGGO - ASH VALLEY AND A FEW DAMS Hike up the Spilhaus Ravine on the back table. Pass the De Villiers, Alexandra, Vicria, Woodhead and Hely Hutchinson dams. Continue up Steenberg ridge for tea with a view. Returning the same way. BOSS 400 WRECK Hike from above Sandy Bay along the conur track the blockhouse, then down a steep path and around the bay the wreck. Some tricky areas with crumbly path on edge of steep drop! One easy rock scramble with a ladder. Low, overhanging branches on some of the path. No water en route. 4 hr actual hiking at moderate pace with return by the same route. SILVERMINE - St JAMES PEAK Walk from the car park Junction Pool then up past Muizenberg Cave and on St James Peak. Bring water, eats and R5 for car guard TOKAI FOREST - ELEPHANTS EYE - ELEPHANTS KNEE - BOEKENHOUT KLOOF 7HR -14KM HIKE WITH STEEP GRADIENT OF 700M- NO EXPOSURE- MODERATELY FIT HIKE We will ascend from the forest steeply Elephants Eye then steeply Constantiaberg. Before reaching the p we will turn right following the tar road where we will pass outstanding views of the Atlantic Ocean and Hout Bay. Passing Elephant's Knee we will descend down Boekenhout Kloof then take a pleasant stroll through Tokai Forest back our cars. BLACKBURN KLOOF CIRCUIT Hike from East Fort Blackburn Kloof.Up conur path. Then along the side of Constantiaberg back East Fort. Bring Rain Gear. Heavy rain cancels CONSTANTIA CORNER, HOLE IN THE WALL From Constantia Nek, up Constantia Corner De Villiers Dam, lunch at Hole in the Wall and return another way RONDEVLEI Bring bird books and binoculars as we strole through the reserve between bird hides and the look out wer. Birds we are sure see but maybe we will be lucky enough spy the odd mammal o. Boat trips are also R300 for a min of 4 persons. (Booking in advance and if you are intersted let me know) Details folllow TBA DIKKOP TRAIL Circular route through strandveld and sandveld; walk through fynbos, restio fields and along the beach; see the wild flowers, numerous animals and birds. The hike is made moderately difficult only by the length - bring sufficient water. TABLE MOUNTAIN - CABLE STATION TO MACLEARS, CONTOUR PATH We will start from the upper cable station and hike MacLears Beacon using the Southern route. We will track back Platteklip via the front face route which is more adventurous and descend the conur path. The train leaves at 13:00 so don't be late. You have have time buy a ticket as well. Rain cancels SMUTS TRACK Hike up Maclears Beacon (1035m) from Kirstenbosch, via Skelen Gorge. Return via Nursery Ravine. A great hike for views over the Peninsula. Depending on the weather an ascent of Nursery Ravine may be necessary. Please phone convenor before the end booking date. SUTHERLAND HIKE This an advance warning of this popular trail - contact if you are interested - details follow OORLOGSKLOOF A circular hike that follows the route around the plateau above Oorlogskloof. A gem of a trail with interesting rock passages. Go for further information. We have booked the 5 day trail option with the 2 days along the river being short distance days. We will add a slower group this hike if there is demand. This group will hike independently and will have a separate leader but both groups will meet at the huts. TRANSKEI HOTEL HOP A hike in the Eastern Cape similar the well known Wild Coast Meander. Details follow. Contact Anthony if you are interested WHALE TRAIL A 5 day trail at De Hoop Nature Reserve. Spectacular scenery from Potberg and along the coast. Day 1: Climb over Potberg and stay at Cupidos Kraal hut. Day 2: Hike down Noetsie Bay. Day 3: along the coast vis Stinkgat (swimming) Hamerkop. Day 4: along the coast Vaalkrans. Day 5: along the beach Koppie Alleen. See for further details.
