Even though the hike is mainly downhill it is tiring so a degree of fitness is required. We will traverse across the 12 Apostles, past Grootkop, passing Separation Buttress the magnificent Pimple Viewpoint just beyond Moordenaarsbos. We will descend down Llandudno Ravine, with some scrambling, past Suikerbossie our cars at Ruyterplaats. Spare cars will be needed fetch our cars at the Cable Station. CONSTANTIA CORNER From Constantia Nek hike on footpath up the ridge overlooking Hout Bay valley. Ascend via rock scramble the skyline and continue up and over rock ridges teaspot with a view! some more downs and ups before winding back the Neck. Visirs and newcomers route consult leader in advance. CONSTANTIA NECK TO WATERWORKS MUSEUM Waterworks Museum, back via the p of Skelen Gorge and Nursery Ravine the Overseer's cottage (matter of interest Overseer's cottage, De Villier's Dam and some of the smaller dams were built by the Delbridges; 2 brothers who were sne masons) LITTLE LIONS HEAD Hike up the side of Little Lions Head the peak. Some scrambling the p. Stunning views. LLANDUDNO CORNER Starting from Suikerbossie, hike up Llandudno corner. From there we climb the plateau and pass Judas peak on Grootkop. OBSERVATION PEAK Difficult Hike Starting at Eerste Tol, cross the Wit River and hike up Bobbejaans River, skirting the waterfall and up the plateau.from there hike north up Observation Peak enjoy magnificent view all round. Return via the same route. EAGLES NEST A scramble the p see the dams. Up Cecila Ridge past Eagles Nest and via Constantia corner the p, past Camel Rock and down the dam, past the huts and on another dam or two. Distance: 11km Distance: 11km Distance: 15km 1

2 Pat Callaghan TABLE MOUNTAIN - CECILIA RIDGE A pleasant and easy scramble Cecilia ridge and back. WEMMERSHOEK DAM TRAVERSE Hike in the Mont Rochelle Nature Reserve above Franchhoek up the valley the dam observation point. Then hike up the plateau and take the path wards the Wemmershoek peak for ± 1km view the dam again. Return via the same route. Lifts will be shared. Phone for meeting time and details: or cell Distance: 10km Permits must be arranged beforehand Tuesday :30 Park at Rycroft Gate Kirstenbosch 08:00 18:00 Glencairn Garage ERDVARK TRAIL Rooiheuwel is a self-catering Karoo Guest Farm in South Africa, situated in the escarpment of the Nuweveld mountains in the Great Karoo with a typical mountain-karoo landscape, 60km north of Leeu Gamka. Hike four trails that are moderate strenuous: Tafelkop trail: 13,3 km; De Aar trail: 8,9 km; Piekniekval trail: 6,2 km; Bulhoek trail: 5,8 km. Starkely beautiful scenery & vistas of the Karoo with shaded kloofsalong the trails. Farm shed for overnight (single beds only - bring your own bedding) with an indoor fireplace and kitchen and braai facilities. See for more detail. 550 km the farm via Leeu Gamka. CONSTANTIA GREENBELT (AFTERNOON) Pleasant walk through the Constantia Green Belt. Will do this back front this time. AASVOEL PEAK This hike is in Fernkloof Nature Reserve in Hermanus. A circular hike the p of Aasvoel Peak (749m) via Galpin's hut. Lovely fynbos and views north the Hemel-en-Aarde valley and south over Walker Bay. Bring binoculars for whale spotting. Bring money for tea and petrol RED HILL - VLOOIBERG We will set off from Redhill, past Grootkop and Varingkop then pick up the track "Flea Mountain", so called because cattle used graze there way back then. Consider this a recce. R Distance: 34km Exposure: Mild Nerina De Villiers :30 Furthest spot on Tafelberg Rd OPPELSKOP This is a circular route with good views of the Bay. Immediately past Peregrine Farm Sre we turn right on a picturesque farm road and travel wards the Indian Ocean. Leaving our cars we hike cross country through delightful wild flowers Perdeberg where we enjoy superb views of the sea at Kleinmond and the Three Sisters.A panoramic route will bring us back the path back our cars.we will sp at the farm sre for cold beers or tea before heading home. 12 Fitness: Average Distance: 14km Add one hour for tea plus one hour drive back Cape Town. Hopefully the watsonias will be in bloom. As always the views will be stunning. Bring plenty of water and a tea snack. There is very little shade on this walk. JONKERSHOEK- SWARTBOSKLOOF CIRCUIT The hike starts at the entrance Swartboskloof and ascends the intersection of the conur path where the route turns west passing through some riverine forest with waterfalls, one of which is a very pleasant lunch sp. The return ascends gently the fire lookout and then back down the cars. RED HILL LEWIS GAY DAM A circular route in the Redhill area including Kleinplaas and Lewis Gay dams DUTOITS PEAK, MONT ROCHELLE, FRANSCHHOEK Hike from Mont Rochelle at the p of the Franschhoek Pass up 660 m Breakfast Rock and then on Duitskop (1419 m) and return via the same route. excellent views of Franschhoek from the p. Looking the west, Lion s Head and Table Mountain can be seen on a clear day through the Helshoogte gap between Simonsberg and Groot Drakenstein Mountain. Lunch in Franchhoek afternoon - venue TBA. RIVER CLUB TO KIRSTENBOSCH Walk though suburbia as well as forested areas, walking shoes rather than hiking boots required. Shuttle required River Club. KLOOF NECK TO CECILIA FOREST Climb up the Conur path from the cable station and hike around the front of Table Mountain, Devil's Peak and on Cecilia Forest. A long day with amazing views around the peninsula. Self-catering, but there is a restaurant and small shop. Hot baths, saunas, in addition we will hike the surrounding hills, walk, eat, drink (one gets thirsty in the hot pool), sleep and tally relax. Beautiful views over Camps Bay and Oudekraal CAPE POINT - BUFFELS BAY TO KANONKOP We will start at the Buffelsfontein centre and hike Kanonkop via the back route. Descend the coast at Bordjiesdrif and continue along the coast Buffels Bay. We will then hike through the fynbos back the Buffelsfontein centre. Bring your Wild Card or pay at the gate. NEWLANDS FOREST Shady ramble in Newlands forest. HAPPY VALLEY - BAINSKLOOF The easy walk starts in Bainskloof at Eerste Tol, leading up a jeep track past the ruins of an old house and a monument commemorating the 1895 Witte River disaster. The furthest point is the secluded Junction Pools, where two rivers meet, is at the end of the route. Return the same way. Friday Monday CEDERBERG - DRIEHOEK FARM Spend some spring time on a working farm in the Cederberg situated between Algeria and Sanddrift. Travel up on the Friday afternoon and stay in 2 equipped houses. There are 15 different hiking options of various degrees of difficulty - eg hiking up Tafelberg or the Wolfberg Arch, The Cracks or shorter hikes around the farm or just relax in this beautiful area. Something for everyone. R545 R Distance: 0km Phone at: or cell Nerina De Villiers :30 Boyes Dr/ Godfrey rd intersection CAVE PEAK Hike up valley from Boyes Drive. The path leads off left and winds past caves, up rock scrambles the peak. Return via Amphitheatre and Echo Valley. May be safest park in residential area below Anthony Sneath :30 Newlands Forest - (helipad) 08:00 NEWLANDS FOREST From Helipad straight up the conur path, along and down at Rhodes mem, then along through forest back helipad. KOGELBERG - LEOPARD'S GORGE Starting at Oudebosch in the Kogelberg Nature Reserve, ascend the Oudebosch river valley the p of Leopard's Gorge, where the waterfall plunges in Leopard's Kloof and there are excellent views of Betty's Bay. Descend Harold Porter Botanical Gardens via the gorge path. Car shuttle required. 12 Permits required. 4

We will then traverse across Table Mountain via the dams and. Beautiful scenery en route. A long hike, but moderate. MOWBRAY RIDGE Ascend Mowbray Ridge from Rhodes Memorial via the Block House and return via upper conur path. TABLE MOUNTAIN - TRANQUILITY CRACKS VIA WOODY RAVINE Starting from Theresa Avenue, we will make our way up Woody Ravine one of the truly magical areas on p of the mountain. Great views and facinating rock formations abound. Return via Woody Ravine Distance: 14km IMPORTANT NOTES All visirs and members bringing visirs must phone the Convenor first. All persons participate in Trails Club activities entirely at their own risk.. Hikers must bring at lease 1 litre of water & full rain gear (raincoat and hood) on hikes..
