Friends YOUR SUPPORT IS APPRECIATED! FIRE/PRESCRIBED BURNS Controlled burns may be conducted at any time by personnel of the Florida Forest Service. Because climatic conditions often dictate when such burns may be conducted, long range scheduling is usually not possible. As such, all potential visitors to the Forest are strongly encouraged to call the Headquarters Dispatch Office at telephone number , option 4, on the morning of the scheduled event, for relevant information. RECREATION VISITORS CENTER U The office is open Monday-Friday 8-12 and 1-4:30 (Closed Wednesday Afternoons, Weekends & Holidays) CAMPGROUNDS Fees by area Buttgenbach Mine, Silver Lake & Cypress Glen U 11/1-3/31 $24.00/night 4/1-10/31U $20.00/night 11/1-3/31 $12.00/night 4/1-10/31U $10.00/night Crooked River & Hog Island, River Junction & Mutual Mine Recreation Areas $15.00/night $8.00 Tillis Hill & Holder Mine Recreation Areas $20.00/night $10.00/night CMA OHV PERMIT FEES: The CMA OHV Permits are available for purchase at the Gatehouse. Currently the annual permits are $40.00 for Florida residents and $80.00 for non-residents. These permits are valid through June 30, One day pass is available for $15/day/vehicle. As of April 1 st, annual passes will be $30 for FL residents and $70 for nonresidents. Permits are sold only at the Croom Motorcycle Area Gatehouse. To purchase a permit, all Florida residents must have their State of Florida Off-Highway Vehicle Certificate of Title or Registration green and white decal affixed to their motorcycles/atvs; and Non-residents must provide proof of ownership. DAY USE FEES...Day Use Areas (DUA) require a fee of $2.00/person/day. Frequent visitors may prefer to purchase an Annual Day Use pass ($30) at the Visitors Center or at These permits allow entry of up to 8 passengers per vehicle at all DUA s charging fees at any Florida State Forest. TILLIS HILL RESERVATIONS CALL Currently taking reservations April 1 through September 30, PERMITS, YOUTH GROUP RESERVATIONS, GROUP PERMITS & INFORMATION CALL or

2 GATES Silver Lake Campgrounds gates are open from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. Croom Motorcycle Area gate opens at 8:00 am and closes at 5:00 pm. BOAT RAMPS Silver Lake & River Junction Day Use Area boat ramp open daily. Canoe launches at Hog Island and Iron Bridge Day Use Areas. Water levels are improved. HUNTING Information for the Season is available from the Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. You may access detailed information by visiting the FWC website at: HUNT CAMPS For this year, rates are as follows: Richloam Spring Turkey- $50 Valid permit dates for season hunt camps vary and are printed on the permit issued. Overnight campers may arrive the day before the opening of the hunt season, and leave no later than the day after the end of each hunt except for Holder Mine General Gun. In the Richloam Tract only, Pless Place overnight & permit areas are open during Hog Dog and Spring Turkey hunts. Overnight hunter camping & open hunts listed by tract. Fee is $10 per night Baird Unit Motorized vehicles allowed during hunting periods from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, one day prior to each hunting period, except prior to Small Game hunts. Otherwise, roads are closed to motorized vehicles. Access is by foot or bicycle only. No unauthorized vehicle parking allowed at the Safety Zone located in the immediate area surrounding Cedar Hammock Lodge. Trails.Off-Road Bicycle, Hiking & Horse Trails & Trailheads are open during all hunts, unless listed below. During hunting seasons, activity may be on or near trails. For trail safety, fluorescent orange clothing is recommended. Homosassa WMA is closed for public access & use during Special-Opportunity Turkey season only individuals with quota permits are allowed. All campgrounds & day use areas are closed to hunting year-round. Other No-hunt areas include: Little River Trails -Multi-use trails for hiking and equestrian use. Two Mile Prairie -Canoe, hiking and horse trails. Silver Lake Recreation Complex-Includes 3 campgrounds, Day Use Area & River (hiking) Trail/Hernando. Canoe/Kayak trails also pass through WMAs both on and off forest. Check the FWCC website, for locations of WMAs & hunt dates for each area. GEOCACHING.Permits required.
