12 Expected Outcomes for the M4 SMART Motorway The M4 SMART Motorway project is expected to: Boost peak time capacity of the motorway by up to 30% Equivalent to adding an extra lane Improve peak travel times by up to 25% Equivalent to a 15 minute journey time saving (Mays Hill to Lapstone) Improve travel reliability by up to 50% Reduce crashes by up to 30% 12
