FOREST CLOSURES Camino Cielo to Painted Cave to Gibraltar Road POWER OUTAGES 400 homes and businesses lost power Wednesday evening within the Jesusita Fire region, mainly in the area of Mission Canyon Drive. Unfortunately repair crews cannot reach the area affected and Southern California Edison estimates the service will be out throughout the night. The public should be aware that power outages are possible. The county is asking people to turn off all unneeded electrical appliances and to have flashlights, batteries and a battery operated radio handy. AIR QUALITY WARNING The Santa Barbara County Public Health Department and the Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District Tuesday issued an air quality warning for the Santa Barbara areas east of Highway 154. Everyone, especially with heart or lung disease (including asthma), older adults and children should limit time spent outdoors. The warning still stands Wednesday. PARTICULATE MASKS: Direct Relief International will be distributing particulate masks to the public Thursday afternoon as the air quality in Santa Barbara worsens due to the Jesusita Fire. DRI will distribute the masks from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Thursday at the following two locations: Jesusita Fire Information Kiosk at Loreto Plaza on the corner of State Street and Las Positas Jesusita Fire Information Kiosk at Lazy Acres Market: 302 Meigs Road near Cliff Drive on the mesa. WATER CONSERVATION In light of the Jesusita fire in Santa Barbara and its potential impacts on water supplies, Carpinteria Valley Water District and Montecito Water District are asking their customers to use water for essential uses only. Reservoir storage levels have been adversely affected by the extreme customer demand resulting from the very hot, dry weather. The Districts are asking customers to postpone such uses as landscape irrigation, washing of vehicles and other outdoor water uses until the Jesusita fire threat has passed. Water supply updates will be issued as the situation progresses.
8 INFORMATION KIOSKS Jesusita Fire public information kiosks have been set up by the city of Santa Barbara at the following locations: Paseo Nuevo (State and De La Guerra Streets) Loreto Plaza (State Street and Las Positas Road) Scolari's Food Co. (222 North Milpas Street) Lazy Acres (302 Meigs Road) The kiosks will be updated as frequently as possible. PUBLIC INFORMATION CALL CENTER: (805) CAUSE: The cause of the Jesusita Fire is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to please call the fire tip line at (805) Santa Barbara County Fire, Santa Barbara City Fire, Montecito Fire, and U.S. Forest Service fire crews have coordinated a Unified Command.
