1 MIDTERM REVIEW OF THE ELEVENTH REPLENISHMENT OF THE AFRICAN DEVELOPMENT FUND (ADF-11) Helsinki- FINLAND 20th 21st October, 2009 Reservation Information note As of 14 th August 2009 Introduction The purpose of this note is to provide participants with early information on the logistical arrangements to facilitate making the initial hotel reservations for the Midterm Review Conference of ADF-11 taking place in Helsinki, on 20 and 21 October, Venue The meetings will take place at the Scandic Continental Hotel in Helsinki, the capital of Finland. October in Finland is late autumn and weather can be expected to be chilly, sometimes sunny but occasionally windy and rainy. Average temperatures around 5-10 C. Coats and appropriate shoes are recommended. General information on Helsinki City, including a map, is available at: Accommodation For the accommodation 120 rooms have been reserved at the Scandic Continental Hotel at a negotiated rate. The special room rates include buffet breakfast. Accommodation can be provided for all the participants at the venue provided that the reservations are made early enough. We would like to remind the participants that October is a busy conference season in Helsinki and thus it is important to make the hotel reservation as early as possible to guarantee the availability of the preferred room and hotel. Participants are required to complete the attached hotel reservation form as soon as possible, preferably by 21 August, and to send it directly to the hotel and to Mr. Francois Museruka at AfDB. Flight details may be provided later. Visa formalities Foreign nationals who need an entry visa are requested to apply for it at the nearest Finnish Embassy, see the list attached. In countries where Finland does not have a diplomatic mission, another Schengen country can represent Finland in visa matters. Kindly be prepared that the processing of the visa application will take several weeks.

From the airport the hotel can be easily accessed by bus or by taxi, but there is no train connection. A map of the hotel s location can be found at the hotel website. By bus: No specific shuttle bus service will be provided for the participants. There is a Finnair s airport shuttle which makes a stop at the Scandic Continental Hotel. The bus departs every 20 minutes. The journey takes approx. 30 minutes and costs 5,90 euros. Time-tables are available at: _0308_AIKATAULU.pdf By taxi: Taxis are available at the airport. The journey takes approx 30 minutes and costs euros. Please be informed that the hotel does not offer an air ticket confirmation service.
