6 Description of the Host City Nakhon Ratchasima, otherwise known as Korat, is the largest city in the northeastern province, and the inhabitants of the province are mainly engaged in agricultural activities, growing such diverse crops as rice, sugar cane, sesame, and fruit. Located approximately 260 kilometers northeast of Bangkok, the city itself serves as the gateway to the northeastern region. Covering an area of 25,494 square kilometers that is mainly plateaus and mountainous terrain, Korat has fascinating traditions, charming hospitality, splendid natural scenery and awesome historical sites, including Khao Yai, Thailand s oldest national park and newest World Heritage site

7 More About Korat Historically, Korat Province was an important area for thousands of years, first as the site of several ancient prehistoric communities and later as important outposts of the Dvaravati and Khmer Empires. Ruins of both Dvaravati and Khmer temples are located across Korat, particularly at Amphoe Sung Noen and Amphoe Phimai, the latter one of the most important provincial capitals of the Angkorian Empire.

8 How To Get There? Simply take a flight to Bangkok then take a bus to TWP Korat By Car - Route 1: Take Highway No. 1 (Phahon Yothin) from Bangkok to Saraburi and then take Highway No. 2 (Mitraparp Highway) from Saraburi to Nakhon Ratchasima. The total distance is 259 kilometers. - Route 2: Take Highway No. 304 from Bangkok and proceed past Min Buri, Chachoengsao, Phanom Sarakham, Kabin Buri, Pak Thong Chai, to Nakhon Ratchasima. The total distance is 273 kilometers. By Bus Ordinary buses leave the Northern Bus Terminal (Mochit 2 Bus Terminal) in Bangkok every 15 or 20 minutes from 5 a.m. to p.m. Air-conditioned buses leaving for Bangkok arrive and depart from the Korat's air-conditioned bus terminal on Mitraparp Highway. The Transport Co., Ltd. (known as Bo Kho So) has both air-conditioned and non air-conditioned buses departing from the Bangkoks Northern Bus Terminal (Mo Chit 2 Bus Terminal) daily. Air-conditioned buses depart from Bangkok every 10 minutes all day, traveling time is 3.20 hours and the fare is 157 baht. Non air-conditioned buses depart from Bangkok every hour from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m., traveling time is 4.30 hours and the fare is 87 baht. 9 Food & Beverage: TWP Korat has a restaurant and bars that offer a wide range of dishes and beverages to suite different tastes. They normally opens from 9:00 to 19:00, but during the competition days, they ll open till late. Accommodation: As we are in Northeastern Thailand s main transportation hub and economic center, Nakhon Ratchasima has a wide variety of accommodation options for visitors on any budget. List of 10 recommended hotels is on the following page, but we are now working on official hotel partners so that all riders and visitors can get the best deal, and we will announce them soon.

11 What to prepare for Thailand? Electricity: 220V AC, 50 Hz, two-pin plugs are standard. Dialing Code: +66 (Thailand). Weather: It s a tropical climate, with high humidity and an average temperature of around 30 C. The central plains are warmer than the northern hills. Most of the country should be visited from November to March when it s cooler and humidity is lower, though the Gulf of Thailand is best from June to September. Currency: Baht (THB). GMT: GMT +7. Fit In: Visitors who dress immodestly when visiting Buddhist temples might also get some looks, so cover up those lobster-red legs and bare midriffs. Otherwise, respect the monks, wear your best smile and enjoy the friendliest of cultures.
